White husky: color features and care rules
Husky is considered the most popular breed of dog, most often such pets are acquired by athletic and active people who prefer to spend their free time dynamically. Despite the fact that the animals of this breed are presented in various colors, the white husky is in the greatest demand, which is distinguished not only by its spectacular appearance, but also by its kind character.
History of appearance
The white husky breed appeared a long time ago - more than a thousand years ago. It was brought out by the people inhabiting the territories of Eastern and Northern Siberia. Since the settlement of people was far from civilization, the purebredness of the breed has been perfectly preserved to our times. At the beginning of the 20th century, gold diggers from America, who participated in dog sled races, immediately noticed these dogs and bought several dozen of them, after which the huskies appeared in the United States. As for Russia, the species was brought to its territory from Belgium and the Czech Republic only in 1995.
Description
White husky is considered not only a good companion, but also a reliable loyal friend.Despite the fact that these pets are pets, the blood of northern dogs and wolves flows in their veins. This type of dog is of medium size, fast, light and elegant in movement. The animal has a rather compact body with gorgeous hair, so fluffy pets do not leave anyone indifferent. The ears of the dogs are of medium size, moreover, they are erect, triangular in shape, the tail is well dropped.
Female huskies have special grace, they have a fragile and refined body. As for the males, they look courageous due to the powerful muscle skeleton. As a rule, at the withers, pets reach no more than 60 cm, their weight varies from 25 to 28 kg.
The snow-white husky has a slightly elongated body, therefore this breed is referred to as a rectangular format. The head of the animal is not wide with slightly tucked up lips. The main feature of this dog is considered to be almond-shaped eyes, the color of which can be different. Most often in representatives of the species, they are brown, but individuals with blue eyes are also found. It should be noted that both eyes can be the same or different in the same color (one is blue and the other is brown).
The neck of animals is curved and rather strong, the shoulder blades are sloping. The ribcage is barrel-shaped, not wide. The chest is usually of medium fullness, which allows the dogs to move freely, while the internal organs are not constrained during movement. The limbs of handsome white men are moderately set, straight and parallel to each other. In addition, huskies have powerful hips.
The paws of the white husky are perfectly adapted to walking on snowy roads, since the snow never gets stuck between the pads. While running, animals move with a gait, move very easily, quickly, which outwardly resembles a "flight" over the ground. During movement, balance is maintained thanks to the tail, which is always straight.
Huskies of white color are found in nature much less often than representatives of other colors. They look spectacular and mesmerizing. It should be noted, however, that such dogs are not albinos, since, according to the standard, they may have a dark brown or black nose and pigmentation on the lips.
A white puppy can only be born in a couple where the father and mother are carriers of the snow-white gene, and they do not need to have a white color. For novice dog breeders, experts recommend using exclusively "white" parents for a bundle. This will increase the likelihood that all puppies in one litter will be completely white. Babies are characterized by good health and quickly learn in training.
Character and behavior
Representatives of the husky breed have a good-natured character and do not show aggressiveness towards other animals and people. The main feature of these dogs is a high level of intelligence: they are able to independently make decisions and assess any situation. In addition, animals have well-developed "running" qualities, therefore, during walks, they often "pull" their owner forward on a leash.
To correct this behavior of dogs, you need to train from an early age, this will further facilitate the interaction between the pet and the owner.
Huskies are extremely sociable animals that require a lot of care and attention. This breed is referred to as a pack, because in the distant past, dogs almost constantly interacted with each other when riding in sleds. If the owner of the pet cannot provide him with a pack, he becomes a “pack” for the dog himself.
Snow-white beauties have high physical activity and are always looking for an opportunity to throw it out. In the house, animals behave perfectly, are affectionate with children, are friends with other pets. The only disadvantage of this breed is the lost guarding instinct, because of this they cannot be good bodyguards.
Nutrition and care
White huskies are very demanding to care, therefore they constantly require the attention of their owner. This should not scare novice dog breeders, since it is not necessary to have certain skills to keep such pets. The most important thing is that the pet is always provided with a balanced diet and has a well-groomed appearance (shiny coat).
The main rule in keeping a husky is regular brushing of the coat, which can be done with a special comb or metal comb. Thanks to this, it is possible to rid the animal of excess fluffiness in the undercoat. During the molting period, this procedure is carried out twice a day, while paying special attention to the body, collar, and fluffy "pants" of the animal.
To facilitate combing out during molting, experts recommend purchasing a special device called a slicker.
Besides, Huskies also need to be bathed, they do it infrequently - once a quarter. Since the snow-white fur often gets dirty in rainy weather, it is recommended to wear a raincoat on your pet during walks. As for winter, at this time of year, dogs do not need to be insulated to walk outside, since they do not freeze.
For bathing, it is best to use a shampoo specially formulated for white wool. It allows you to maintain a snow-white color and protects against the appearance of yellow pigmentation on the coat.
Huskies are very fond of walking in the fresh air. In a snowy winter, before walking your pet on the street, you need to wear bright accessories (harnesses or collars), this will allow you to quickly notice them against a general white background. Since representatives of this breed can run away from the owner, it is not recommended to walk them without a leash. Seeing another dog or small animal, the husky will immediately chase after them.
A pet can walk freely only in fenced areas, but outside the city (in the forest and fields), the pet can be released if it is trained in the "Come to me!" Command.
Correctly selected type of food also plays a huge role in keeping a white husky. When composing the diet of an animal, you must follow a number of rules.
- It is strictly forbidden to feed a dog of this type with food "from the table", the menu should be selected, taking into account the presence of all the necessary trace elements and substances in the products.
- The pet should always eat on a schedule that should be strictly followed. For an adult, it is enough to give food twice a day. If you do not observe the frequency of feeding, this will affect the health of the animal.
- The daily diet of the husky should consist of natural food and dry (factory-made) feed. At the same time, it is best to purchase dry food of a super-premium class: it contains lamb, turkey and fish meat. After feeding, the dog must be given fresh water, access to which must be constant. In the event that the owner prefers to feed the pet with natural products, then the balance of each portion should be monitored. It is allowed to give huskies fruits, vegetables, sea fish, lactic acid products, raw meat, as well as greens.
- When purchasing a puppy from a breeder or in a nursery, you must definitely ask what he was fed in the nursery, and not change his usual diet for the first week. Feeding small dogs must be treated with great responsibility, otherwise improper nutrition can disrupt their gastrointestinal tract.
Education and training
Before deciding to buy a white husky, its future owner should be prepared for the fact that he will have to regularly train with the pet, since this is one of the important points of its maintenance.
Experts recommend that dog breeders sign up for group classes with a dog handler, who will clearly tell and show how to interact with the pet.
Thanks to such lessons, the pet will be able to learn standard commands and establish a relationship of trust with its owner. In addition, during group gatherings, the puppy will not only acquire new skills, but will also be able to communicate with its relatives, which is very important from a psychological point of view.
After the baby grows up, the usual training will need to be supplemented with sports activities: taking the pet to fistyle, courses in Frisbee, Ajili and learning various tricks with him.
In winter, training with a dog is best done in places where there is a lot of snow, using a sled and skis for outdoor activities. In summer, you can go out of town with your pet, where you can organize a jog or bike ride. Huskies showed themselves remarkably well in such a test as coursing (running after a mechanical egg), thus they manage to throw out the excess energy as much as possible.
When training dogs on your own at home, you must take into account special recommendations.
- Before carrying out each new lesson with a pet, its owner must tune in to the absence of aggression, perseverance and consistency. In no case should you fall on the animal and beat it. If the owner is in a bad mood, the husky will immediately feel it and think that something bad has happened.
- In addition to occasional outdoor training, educational activities should be carried out with the dog in the house. The animal should not spoil things and furniture in the room. To distract the pet from "pampering", he needs to buy special toys, this will save shoes and furniture from sharp teeth.
- It is also considered important to train the husky to the cage, this will be useful in the future during long trips. The owner needs to purchase a structure of sufficient size in advance, in which the adult would feel comfortable and could turn freely. You cannot close a pet in a cage forcibly - he must independently feel that this is "his territory", and not a place for punishment. Feeding your pet with treats will help speed up the process of accustoming to the cage.
