How to wipe off plasticine?
If there are children in the house, or you yourself are fond of creative processes in the form of modeling from plasticine, it is quite possible that you had to deal with such a problem as removing the dirt obtained thanks to this material. The difficulty of removing plasticine, of course, is incommensurate with an attempt to remove a red wine stain from a white sofa, however, you will have to tinker with it, especially given the area and localization of the "plasticine" violation of cleanliness and order.
How to remove from a hard surface?
Of course, the best option is when you cost a little blood and all you need is just to wash the plasticine from wood, glass or plastic. For example, if the table, toys or special children's boards for modeling were smeared with it. This process does not take much time and effort. So, to erase plasticine from toys or boards, it will be enough draw hot water into a wide container and place contaminated objects there for a few minutes. The material will melt quickly, and you can easily scrape off the remains with a plastic knife or an alternative that is at hand, for example, an old discount plastic card. After that, it is enough to wipe the item with a clean rag soaked in soapy water or a mixture of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide (in a 1 to 1 ratio).
With the table, the actions are practically repeated. Prepare a warm soapy solution, dampen the stain and gently remove it with a sponge and scraper. Do not scratch wood or glass. If the plasticine does not wipe off the table immediately, try to heat the defect with a hairdryer, this will make him more obedient and you can reapply the sponge and soapy water.
Removal from textiles
It is still easy to remove wax and other components of plasticine from plastic and wood, but what to do if the clothes are damaged? First, remove the top layer with a plastic knife or any other similar object. Then you can apply two contrasting, but effective methods: cooling or heating. The first will reduce the sticky properties of plasticine, and it will better separate from the fibers of the fabric. Freezing options:
- packed in polyethylene, put in the freezer;
- apply ice cubes to the stain;
- apply a special cooling spray.
After this procedure, the plasticine stain will harden, and it can be cleaned off with a plastic knife or a stiff brush.
When you don't want to freeze your hands turn on the iron. If, using ice, the plasticine components solidify, then the heating device will melt them. The method will help to cope with the problem on dense fabrics, for example, jeans or trousers. To do this, you need to take several paper napkins and place one under the soiled area, and the second over the fabric.
Without turning on the steam effect, it is necessary to iron the napkin a couple of times, as a result of which the plasticine will remain on it.
Grease stain removal
Unfortunately, after removing a significant part of the sticky material, it will still leave a stain in the form of particles of dye and grease embedded in the fabric. For its subsequent removal, it is possible to use laundry soap, ammonia, vegetable oil or dish detergent.
It is recommended to grate a third of a regular bar of laundry soap. Then pour this soap shavings with water until a thick foam forms, where you should place the spoiled thing, and rub the stain with soap. Half an hour later, the problem area must be brushed and washed as usual. The method is effective for all types of materials, but you should be careful with delicate things. - it is better not to make too intensive movements with a brush.
If you find yourself on the shelf ammonia - you can safely use it. To do this, dissolve 10 drops of the substance in 200 ml of water. A small stain should be treated with this solution using a cotton pad, and then washed completely. It is allowed to soak a heavily soiled thing for half an hour. The composition of the solution is the same, just increase the volumes according to the outgoing proportions.
And, finally, one of the simplest and most effective methods of removing plasticine grease on clothes. The good thing is that dishwashing detergent with vegetable oil is almost always available at home. Here it is enough to wet a cotton pad with oil and rub the problem area with it for several minutes.
This will dissolve the fats, then treat the trail with a product and leave the thing for an hour. A subsequent wash will completely remove the dirt.
How do I clean my wallpaper?
However, you can get dirty not only objects and clothes - children know a lot about this. If plasticine is on the wallpaper, and you do not consider it as a conceptual wall decoration, arm yourself with several objects to get rid of the stain as soon as possible. In the event that smooth canvases are damaged, be sure to prepare the following:
- scraper;
- hairdryer;
- dry napkin;
- sponge and detergent.
First, use a scraper to remove the top layer of plasticine with gentle movements. Don't smear it, just scrape it off. After removing the top of the dirt, plug in the hair dryer. Use it to warm up the stain, and then blot with a napkin. You can repeat these steps several times in a row. In the case of wallpaper, a greasy stain may also remain after being soiled with plasticine, so you need to use a sponge, having previously wet it in soapy water. Avoid pouring water over the stain or saturate the sponge. It is enough to moisten, wring out and rub the soiled area.
After that, it remains to dry the treated area with a hairdryer.
Cleaning different textures
Embossed wallpaper damaged by plasticine will require additional plasticine, no matter how strange it may sound. Nothing scary, it just needs to be white and used like an absorbent. To do this, you need to attach white plasticine over the adhering one and try to abruptly tear it off the wallpaper. It should not be strongly kneaded, the material should not melt. It is better to repeat the procedure several times.
Then follow the same steps as for smooth ones. We heat the problem area with a hairdryer, then we try to get rid of the remnants of contamination with a napkin.
And a trace in the form of a greasy spot will help to wipe off a sponge soaked in a previously prepared soapy solution.
Additional life hacks: if you don't have a hair dryer at hand, try to gently melt the clay with a heated iron or an ordinary damp cloth. And be sure to keep in mind that a dry paper napkin used when removing plasticine should ideally be white, without drawings and soiled marks. Otherwise, you can contrive to worsen an already polluted place.
Blue, red, green or any other color - regular plasticine will still be sticky. Don't worry if it sticks where it doesn't need to. For this, there are simple methods that will help solve the problem even at home.
