But, be that as it may, the priority for most people is still a dog, which was, is and will be a true friend of man. And few people can argue with this! Probably, you don't even need to look for the reasons why a person chooses this particular animal as a pet. There is an opinion that it is not a person who chooses a dog for himself, but the dog itself chooses its owner.

There are many different breeds, and they all can differ in size, character, behavior. The Japanese Akita Inu is becoming more and more popular every day. In this article, we will talk in more detail about this breed, its features, proper maintenance and upbringing.

History

Everything in this world has its own history - this also applies to the breed of dogs. There are species that have been artificially bred, and there are those whose origin is so deeply rooted in the past that there is even no way to fully study it. These are the Akita Inu. This breed is considered one of the most ancient.

The homeland of these truly beautiful animals is Japan. Yes, it was in the Land of the Rising Sun that rock paintings with their images were first discovered in caves. From this it follows that for the first time a person began to contact with wild dogs, which later received the name Akita Inu, about 8 thousand years ago.

According to various studies, it has been found that initially, people used this breed for hunting and protection, since the dog was able to fight absolutely every animal, regardless of its size. And only after a certain period of time, the Japanese Akita Inu turned from a hunting and watchdog into an elite breed, which only fairly wealthy people could afford.

Today Akita Inu is the dream of many dog lovers. Especially the animals of this breed became recognizable and popular after the story about the dog, which for 10 years was waiting on the platform of the station for its deceased owner, thundered all over the world.

They found out about her thanks to the film "Hachiko", which many saw and cried. While in Japan, you can even admire the monument erected in honor of this dog.

Color features

The World Cynological Association identifies several types of Japanese Akita Inu, among which I would like to separately mention the tiger one. Today this breed is considered exotic, it is not so often found as, for example, white or black.

Tiger Akita Inu has its own color characteristics. There are such varieties of this suit:

  • blue;
  • white (with light stripes);
  • black (stripes can be of different saturation in color);
  • redhead.

General information, character

Tiger Akita Inu is a fairly large animal that stands out for its very beautiful exterior among other dog breeds. A male of this breed can weigh up to 45 kg, and its height can be 70 centimeters. As for the "weaker sex", the maximum weight is 45 kg, and the height is 63 cm.

Dogs are happy owners of small triangular ears, large and expressive muzzles. Their back is quite strong and massive, the neck is muscular.

Tiger Akita Inu love communication, they need to constantly feel the love of the owner. As for the character of the dog, it is worthwhile to separately talk about both its positive aspects and negative ones.

Positive character traits of the dog:

  • reliable protection for all family members;
  • fearlessness;
  • trainable;
  • cleanliness and tidiness;
  • loyalty and devotion;
  • barking only when necessary.

Negative traits of the dog:

  • there is aggression towards other dogs;
  • need a special approach during training and training;
  • stubbornness.

How to care?

The big advantage of this breed is that such a dog can be kept both in the apartment and, if possible, on the street.

Water procedures for such a pet are mandatory, they must be carried out constantly. After washing, it is advisable to comb the dog, but it is quite enough to do this once a week. But when the dog sheds, which happens twice a year, it should be combed out well at least 3 times a week.

It is imperative to monitor the cleanliness of the mouth and teeth. You can buy a special toothbrush or dental sticks at the pet store.

Also, do not forget about the need to clean the auricles. Akita Inu are very active, so her ears often get dirty.For cleaning your ears, you can use ordinary cotton-tipped sticks, which are sold in any supermarket.

Separately, it is worth talking about how to properly feed the Akita Inu. It should be borne in mind that the birthplace of the breed is Japan, for this reason, for a long period, dogs ate foods such as rice, seafood, vegetables and seaweed. But time goes by, tastes change. Today, a representative of the Akita Inu can eat various cereals, meat, fish, dairy products.

What is sick?

Like all living things, dogs are characterized by various diseases. Akita Inu is prone to diseases:

  • joints, which is most often inherited;
  • vision;
  • thyroid gland.

The main reason that can contribute to the development of a particular disease in this breed of dog is the lack of physical activity, which the dog needs constantly. To avoid possible diseases and protect your pet, you need to walk with him for a long time, several times a day.

How to educate and train?

As already mentioned, the Akita Inu is active, it is a cheerful and curious dog that gets along well and plays with children. But, given the rather mischievous temperament, she needs to start to educate, train from childhood.

Training should take place in a calm atmosphere - there should be no orders and no severity. The dog will obey the command of the owner, not because he orders her, but because he is her friend.

A pet of this breed should have only one owner, whom he will listen to and who will allow himself to be trained and educated.
