Face painting (from Latin aqua - water) is a special water-based makeup that is applied to the skin. It is harmless to children and can be easily removed with regular soapy water. The paint is non-toxic and does not stain clothes.

It is worth refusing to apply face painting only if there are wounds and a rash on the skin, or in case of an allergic reaction. You can check your skin for allergies by first applying a small amount of paint to the back of your wrist or palm. For children under three years old, water makeup is not contraindicated, but the work on application is quite painstaking, and it will be difficult for the baby to sit for a long time without moving.

Face painting is produced in different forms, packages and volumes by both domestic and foreign manufacturers.

• Pressed... Usually in the store you can find dry face painting, similar to eyeshadow. It is easy to dilute it with plain water, the amount of which will determine the brightness of the final work.
• Spray... Paint in spray cans can be used to paint not only the body, but also the hair, but not every beginner can cope with it.Spray requires dexterity when applied freely, but when working with ready-made stencils, on the contrary, it is most easy to use.
• Mehendi in tubes. Such face painting is not intended for small children, as it stays on the skin for at least three days. This effect is achieved due to the content of natural henna, which is familiar to all lovers of red hair dye.
• Cream... The most beautiful face painting, which can be removed with any oil emulsion, as it is made on the basis of oil or wax. Bright juicy colors and increased durability make the makeup especially festive and memorable.
• In the form of pencils... Markers or crayons require no special tools to apply and are ideal for light face painting during outdoor parties.
• In split cakes... This makeup is similar to plasticine and is designed to quickly create a rainbow or gradient background. On top of it, a normal brush painting is required.
• Palette... Large sets of paints resembling ordinary watercolor or gouache. Perfect for professional makeup artists, but superfluous for beginners who are just starting to master such makeup.

In addition to the paints themselves, you will also need other accessories and tools:

Face painting is not a classic make-up, it is done for both girls and boys. In order for the reincarnation to please both parents and young participants of the holiday, several important rules should be adhered to.

• For preschoolers, it is better to choose a cute and unusual make-up, and not a scary one, so that the child does not get scared himself and does not frighten other children.
• It is not necessary to paint over the entire surface of the face for a very long time. It is enough to highlight 2-3 zones, for example, the forehead and cheeks.

The classic attributes of a Halloween vampire are blood flowing from long fangs and deathly pale skin. For older children, you can completely whiten the face by drawing folds and bruises near the eyes. The blood flowing from the teeth to the chin will perfectly complement the sinister image.

In the baby's makeup, you can limit yourself to drawing long fangs without blood and theatrically curved thin eyebrows. For girls, beautiful shiny eyeshadows can be applied. A snow-white shirt with a dark fluttering cloak or an elegant fluffy dress will complement the look.

It is not at all a terrible image, too, you can choose for this holiday, if you do make-up deliberately exaggerated. If sequins are used, then let them cover the entire face, if feathers are on the eyelashes, then let them be real wings, and not two or three decorative elements. Such seductive costumes are often chosen by young girls.

An unusual novelty in recent years is pixel makeup, which seems to be taken from the famous computer game. It consists of many even squares, turning the face into a blurry mask. And traditional make-up in the form of masquerade masks is rightfully considered a classic of any Halloween party.

And the last, but not in popularity, make-up option for the holiday - face painting for the whole family. It can be a group of characters from a movie or cartoon, or just a pair of mum and daughter make-up repeating elements of each other. If two children are very different in age, the older one can make a full-fledged mask of paints, and the baby can draw only a few similar elements. Such images always look very thoughtful and effective.
