500 liter aquariums: their sizes and launch

Keeping large aquariums full of fish seems to be very easy and straightforward. But in fact, everything can be done properly only using special technology. It is necessary to study it thoroughly, and not just pour water and start fish.

Quality aquariums of 500 liters have a recommended glass wall thickness of 0.01 or 0.012 m. Most promising designs use a particularly transparent material. Each of its ends is processed on a special machine. This solution greatly improves the characteristics of the finished product. For the assembly of structures, specialized aquarium sealants are used. Special seams are placed between the glasses. The internal seams must have a uniform broach around the entire perimeter.

Large aquariums do not transfer their weight to the bottom, but to the supporting countertops. Equipping vessels with special filtering systems is mandatory. The usual dimensions of a 500 liter vessel are 1.5x0.5x0.7 liters. This is sufficient to provide the required strength. The thickness of the bottom can reach 0.016 m. As for the mass, in its pure form it will be 150 kg. Ribs and ties will give 1-5 kg ​​more.

• prepare water;

• clean the walls, lid and bottom;

• cleaning the scenery;

• change water;

• check the parameters and maintain their compliance with the standards.

From the very beginning, a suitable place for setting up the aquarium is selected. It must be placed on a special stand or cabinet. Classic household furniture will not be able to withstand the resulting load. You also need to take care of equipping the vessel:

It is categorically unacceptable to place the aquarium where it will be illuminated by direct sunlight. In the process of "launching" the aquarium, special preparations are actively used. They are needed to treat fish diseases, to combat growing algae, to stimulate the growth of aquarium plants. The water parameters are adjusted using special air conditioners. As for the decorations, they depend both on the requirements for the content of specific types of fish, and simply on your imagination.

It is necessary to immediately make a choice between natural and artificial plants. The former need regular aquarium soil. The latter allow you to choose a soil of a more diverse type, however, they are usually guided by its external beauty. When it comes to populating fish, it must be borne in mind that 1 sq. m. the outer area of ​​the fish should be at least 1 liter of water. When selecting species of organisms, their compatibility should be considered.

Initially, all new specimens are quarantined. As for the filters, only external options are suitable for a 600 liter aquarium. They are advised to choose them as carefully as possible, because it is this element that most often severely fails the novice aquarists.

Having completed the aquarium with all the necessary equipment, you can immediately proceed to the selection of decorations. They should be checked for chemical safety and hygiene compliance. It is worth remembering that the decorations are purchased not so much for the owners as for the fish. Therefore, the best guideline when choosing is the naturalness of the decor, its familiar appearance for a particular species.

When the aquarium is set up in the right place, it should be washed immediately. To do this, use baking soda. Then you will have to wipe it for a long time and thoroughly so that the alkali does not get into the water. Having filled the container to 50%, keep it in this mode for 24 hours. Then they look at all the places where smudges can be found. Before backfilling the main soil for plants, it is washed; if the soil mixture is of natural origin, it is also worth disinfecting it with boiling water.

After washing, the soil mixture is covered with a uniform layer. Large pieces need to be removed. Plants are fed immediately and only then they begin to lay aeration pipes and install filters.
