Variety of Tetra feeds
Feeding aquarium fish has been a big problem on the road to widespread aquarium hobbyism. Large-scale research in the 40s of the XX century helped to create the world's first inexpensive product that allows you to fully provide aquarium fish with a nutritious diet. This is how Tetra was born, which gave the name to a successful company that now has an extensive network of branches around the world. The company's products will be discussed in this material.
Peculiarities
Since its inception, Tetra food has been significantly different from numerous products from other manufacturers. Their main feature was a deep scientific approach at all stages of production.... The development of food for the inhabitants of aquariums, and subsequently terrariums, includes the study of the composition of natural food objects for certain fish, the selection of ingredients that allow to optimize the production technology, the testing of food prototypes for their subsequent launch into production. Thus, the company manages to create a quality product with an optimal cost.
As a rule, the description of a particular Tetra product contains a complete list of its properties: preferred fish species for which the food can be used, the nature of the buoyancy of the food particles, their size, the ability to swell or soak. In addition, the company's specialists indicate the most significant quality characteristics of the feed: effect on color, increase in activity, effect on reproductive functions of fish.
Among the Tetra products, you can choose food for any age category of fish, for representatives of various ecological groups (upper, middle and / or bottom layer of water), for predators or herbivores. In addition, highly specialized feeds are being developed, taking into account the species characteristics of fish.
Basic feed
Tetra's product range is very wide. However, there are several main parameters that can be used to classify products.
First of all, this is the so-called basic dry food. Tetra has developed food for both aquarium fish and other aquarium inhabitants such as aquatic turtles and amphibians.
The traditional product of the company, which received the name TetraMin, has a wide variety of types of release, allowing it to be used for almost all inhabitants of an artificial reservoir.
Flakes
- TetraMin Babi is suitable for fry up to 1 cm long. It is a complete micro-flake food suitable for daily feeding of fry of most aquarium fish species.
- For the growing young fish, the company produces a product TetraMin Junior, in composition, it is very similar to the previous variety, but with a larger flake size. This food is often used for the daily feeding of fish with a small mouth size, such as discus fish or scalar fish.
- Flakes are great for feeding adult fish TetraMin with Flakes designation... They support the growth, development and intense coloration of all ornamental aquarium fish species. Flakes absorb water for a long time, therefore they float on the surface of the water for quite a long time, which is very important when feeding fish that prefer the upper and middle layers of water, for example, cockerels, barbs, cichlids and some others.
- Flakes TetraMin XL Flakes have similar characteristics, but a larger size, they can be successfully used for goldfish and other relatively large inhabitants of the middle, surface and bottom layers of water in an aquarium. Soggy flakes slowly sink and are perfectly eaten by fish both in the middle layer of water and from the bottom. It is for this reason that this version of the popular product can be used to feed a wide variety of fish, including catfish.
Granules
The granular version of TetraMin Granules has its own distinctive features. It is most preferable to use this variety for feeding the inhabitants of the middle part of the aquarium. The size of the granules, as in the case of flakes, can be different:
- Mini Granules - Suitable for feeding small fish such as neons or zebrafish;
- variety XL Granules - can be used for feeding all large aquarium fish, including corridors.
Crisps
For the simultaneous feeding of inhabitants of aquariums of different species and sizes, the food is ideal TetraMin Crisps in the form of chips.
The chips, prepared using a special technology, float on the surface for a long time, gradually soaking up, which makes it possible to provide food for both large and small fish. Non-eaten particles, sinking to the bottom, become an object of food for bottom dwellers. For the larger inhabitants of the aquarium, chips with the XL mark have been developed.
Assorted
For aquariums containing a variety of fish, a mixture has been developed - TetraMin Selection, allowing the fish to choose the most preferred food from a mixture of flakes, pellets and chips.
Once in the water, one portion quickly differentiates: the flakes slowly get wet and, sinking to the bottom, become food for the inhabitants of the middle layer, the granules, falling to the bottom, are eaten by the bottom inhabitants, and long-floating chips allow the inhabitants of the near-surface layer of water to get quality food.
Either way, the eaten particles of almost all TetraMin dry foods end up on the bottom, where they provide an excellent food base for catfish.
The company has carried out a thorough study of the diet of various types of aquarium fish and developed special dry basic feeds with specific species.
- A whole series of products TetraMin Ciclid intended for feeding different types of cichlids, at all stages of their life.
- TetraMin Discus was developed specifically for discus - this group, which is difficult to maintain and above all, to feed.
- Separate feed line TetraMin Malawi developed for Malawian cichlids - endemic to this particular system of African lakes, which have a large amount of freshwater algae in their diet.
- Products with markings TetraMin Guppi not only are able to fully support the activity of these restless fish, but also emphasize their bright and varied colors.
- Stern Betta specially designed for fighting fish.
- Specialized feed for bottom fish received the name Pleco, most often these are fast-sinking tablets.
- There is also a product line for red parrots, one of the components of which is a component that stimulates the production of red pigment.
Tetra's products are sold packaged in packages of various sizes. For amateur aquarists, it is most preferable to pack in bags from 100 to 200 g or in plastic jars with a sealed lid, up to 250 g. For aquarium farms, it is more justified to purchase food in buckets from 2.5 to 10 liters.
Overview of special products
The scientific approach to the creation of feed allowed Tetra to organize the production of special dry food not only for aquarium fish, but also for other inhabitants of the aquarium.
- The most versatile feed is Tetra Wafer Mix, which can be used as a base for both bottom fish and crustaceans. This mixture contains shrimp meat and spirulina algae.
- For feeding aquatic turtles, food has been developed Tetra Repto. The specialized food line has options for all size and age groups of these reptiles.
- For fish with small mouths that collect food from the surface of the water, a food line has been developed Tetra Micro.
- Dry food Tetra Holiday in the form of a gradually soaking completely edible gel block was developed for specific conditions when the aquarist for one reason or another cannot carry out daily feeding of his pets, for example, leaving on vacation or a business trip. One block, when soaked, provides food for the inhabitants of the aquarium for two weeks.
Some feeds can not only provide fish with all the necessary substances, but also turn feeding into a kind of show that can captivate even a small child with aquarium hobby - it was for these purposes that they were developed.
So, for the exciting feeding of small tropical fish, adhesive tablets were invented. Tetra FunTips Tablets... Feeding with Tetra Delica, produced in special tubes, can bring even more pleasure to the observer.
Assortment of goodies
For some fish, primarily those originating from temperate latitudes, with very sharp changes in the composition of food according to the seasons, it is recommended to periodically alternate the main food with other species. So, for the goldfish originating from the common crucian carp, the Tetra company has developed sticks Goldfish Energy.
Also feed in the form of sticks floating on the surface Pond stiks are available in large bags for feeding pond fish and can be used as a treat for ornamental carp.
