A relatively new type of arts and crafts is diamond mosaic, or embroidery, as it is also called. The popularity of diamond paintings is constantly growing among people of all ages.

Diamond embroidery is a wonderful gift ready-made and as a kit for needlework. Such products become a decorative element of interior design, being at the same time an excellent training of fine motor skills of hands for adults and children.

Positive qualities of diamond mosaic:

Minuses:

• monotony and duration of the process;
• negatively affects the shoulder girdle - the back and neck become very numb;
• great strain on the eyes - it is not recommended to deal with those who have vision problems.

If the set contains defective rhinestones (irregularly shaped, with chips, inaccurate color, with air bubbles), it is better not to use them, especially since there are always more stones than necessary.

To all variants of this type of creativity, one more has recently been added - a diamond mosaic from a photograph. There are two types:

• manufacturing of a finished product to order;
• making a set for self-fulfillment.

If the choice is made in favor of photography, then you need to decide which of the two options is more suitable and place an order.

There are special computer programs to carry out the scheme, which is the basis of the future picture. The developed scheme is applied to a special canvas, then it is covered with an adhesive and a protective film. It can be a plastic base or a canvas made of thick rubberized fabric, some make the canvas on their own using white fabric for stretch ceilings. Plastic is more affordable, but a special canvas gives the finished product a professional and solid look.

The set includes a set of rhinestones of a round or square section of the required colors, tweezers, a stylus and a stone tray. The tweezers are made using a special technology, with thin curved tips adapted to cover the rhinestone.

A stylus is a device for gripping stones, very similar in shape to a pen or pencil, at the end of which there is a rod with a recess and a gel that holds the rhinestone. The diamond tray has an elongated spout, with the help of which stones are poured into the organizer. A characteristic feature of such a tray is the separating edges at the bottom. Thanks to them, the rhinestones lie in even rows, in this form it is easy to work with them, grab them with a stylus or tweezers. The set of materials is small, absolutely available to everyone who wants to try their hand at a new kind of creativity.

A diagram will help you create a portrait yourself, a layout of which you can make at home yourself, or entrust its creation to a special program. The work area is a comfortable flat surface at a comfortable height, usually a table. The canvas is laid out on it, all the crystals are poured into a special organizer - each color requires a separate cell, and all are signed by numbers. In the process, the color that is in work is poured into a tray, from where it is convenient to get stones.

The film on the canvas is separated carefully and in stages, no more than 5-10 cm, the surface is immediately covered with rhinestones, otherwise the glue layer will dry out. There are three common ways to lay out a mosaic:

• by color, while having a full guarantee of the order in which the stones are applied, which eliminates the displacement of the image;
• in a row method - the positive point is that you can grab several stones with the stylus at the same time, and the negative one is the possible displacement of the pattern;
• sectors - the most common method when part of the field freed from the film is completely filled.

Small panel paintings are completed faster and require less time. On such "crumbs" it is easier to understand whether there is enough strength, perseverance, desire to deal with diamond mosaic. The finished canvas must necessarily dry out in a flattened form. Craftsmen advise to roll it with a rolling pin, cover it with a cloth, and press it down with something heavy. The embroidery gets its finished look after covering with matte or glossy acrylic varnish. The finished painting, until it is inserted into the frame under the glass, must be stored rolled up in a roll with the front side out.Thus, they preserve the integrity of the pattern, crystals, and creases are avoided.

When ordering ready-made diamond embroidery from photographs or a kit for self-execution, there is one point to consider. A black and white image looks more sophisticated, stylish and original than a colored mosaic. The point is uniqueness, since a color image at first glance is not much different from a painting, and a black and white panel immediately attracts the eye. If the color photo is slightly overexposed, flaws may be noticeable on the finished canvas.
