The application of geometric shapes is a great way to captivate the child, develop fine motor skills of the hands and develop imagination. The use of simple shapes allows even the smallest to create original paintings. You will get acquainted with the most interesting crafts from geometric shapes in our article.

Crafts for the little ones

Learning geometric shapes while playing is very exciting, since it is easier for a child to memorize shapes, as well as colors as a result of the game process. Creating blanks for such crafts does not take much time, which is very convenient even for a working adult.

For convenience, many templates can be printed on a printer.

You will also need glue or glue stick, as well as a paintbrush and scissors.

For the smallest, you can use simple compositions. For example, you can create a picture where grass will be obtained from rectangular strips, a ladybug is made from several semicircles. You can decorate such an insect with circles, imitating points on the back. The creation of this picture will captivate the kid, and will also delight the parents with its simplicity.

It is quite easy to make various animals with a baby of this age. The main shape will be a circle that can be cut in half.

For example, to make a pig, you need two pale pink circles, on one of them you can draw eyes and a piglet. This will be the pig's head. From a darker color, you need to make 3 semicircles. Let's collect our pig.

  1. First, glue the first semicircle. These will be the legs of our animal.
  2. On the legs we glue the first circle of pale pink color - the body.
  3. From the second semicircle we make 2 front legs and glue them to the body.
  4. Then we glue the pink head of the pig with the already made eyes and a patch.
  5. After that, cut the last semicircle into two halves and make the ears of the pig.

You can also "build" an original house from a square and a triangle. You can give the composition a finished look by sticking a bright yellow circle next to this applique. It will be sunshine. A nearby tree will also be quite simple to make. This will require a rectangle and a green oval. The house can be decorated with square windows and a rectangular door.

The kid will love making the chicken:

  1. cut out a bright yellow circle and several triangles;
  2. we glue a circle in the middle, creating the body of the future chicken;
  3. after that, from the two triangles below we make his legs;
  4. a bright red triangle will make an excellent beak, which is glued to the side of the body;
  5. the composition can be completed with a black circle, which will be the eye.

Small children can be entertained with such simple applications of geometric shapes.

For older ages, you can use complicated compositions.

Ideas for children 3 years old

Children 3 years old also love to create various compositions from geometric shapes. There are many options for preschoolers that they can easily tackle on their own as they are able to work with glue stick or regular glue. Let's see what simple applications can be done with a 3-year-old child.

Rocket

It will be quite simple for a preschooler to create a rocket. To do this, you need to do the following:

  • prepare three squares from colored paper, one triangle, the base of which is approximately equal to the side of the square, two triangles that have a mirror image with an angle of 90 degrees;
  • in the last triangles, one side that will adjoin the rocket should be made slightly wider than the side of the square, and the other side of the triangle, which will act as the base of the rocket, should be made with a width similar to or less than the side of the square;
  • you will also need two circles protruding as portholes.

Let's start collecting the rocket:

  1. all triangles must be glued one above the other, imitating a long rocket;
  2. the first triangle is glued to the top, which will become the nose of the rocket;
  3. further on the sides of the base we glue triangles that have a mirror image;
  4. the final stage will be the gluing of the porthole circles.

If you decide to make with the child not just a rocket, but a whole composition, glue the stars prepared in advance around the flying vehicle.

Lamb

With a child 3-4 years old, you can make a lamb from geometric shapes:

  1. the first step is to cut out a large oval, which will become a body;
  2. four legs must be made from rectangles;
  3. a smaller oval will become the face of a lamb;
  4. two flattened ovals are used to create ears, and an additional circle or oval can become a tail for a future animal;
  5. after all the details are collected, you can draw a nose on the face, and also add curls to the body of the lamb.

Hen

Making a chicken is a more complex application than making a chicken, although the principle of operation will be the same:

  1. two bright yellow circles of different sizes are prepared: one will be the body, the second will become a small tail;
  2. also from 2 triangles chicken legs are made;
  3. the beak is made of bright red paper, and is also made in the form of a triangle;
  4. for a scallop, three small red circles are suitable;
  5. an eye can be made from a circle of black color.

Collecting such a chicken is quite simple and exciting.

Wood

Creating a tree with a 3-year-old child is exciting, since the shape will only depend on imagination.

You can suggest making a Christmas tree, consisting of several triangles glued in order from large to small.

You can also suggest sticking green circles imitating leaves on a rectangular brown trunk.

The simplest tree that can be made from geometric shapes is a glued rectangle and a green oval.

Optionally, you can use brightly colored paper to create your fall tree composition.

Small fish

To captivate the child, he can be offered to create a fish made in different colors. The shape of the pet will also depend on the imagination of the child and the parent, but the simplest composition can be created in the following steps:

  1. the body of the fish is made of an oval;
  2. if desired, the oval can be decorated with various patterns imitating scales;
  3. the tail of the fish is made from a triangle;
  4. the fins are made in the form of triangles, they can be glued to the top and bottom of the fish (you can cut out one large triangle, the base length of which is greater than the width of the oval, and then glue the triangle first, and then the oval protruding from the body in the middle - this way you can also get all the fins of the fish) ;
  5. eyes are made from 2 circles for the future fish.

The creation of this composition will greatly captivate any kid and help him show his imagination.

Options for 4-5 years

For older children, you can use more complex compositions and animals with more details.

With a child of this age, you can make an original fox from triangles.

  1. The fox's face is made from a large triangle, on the edge of which a black small triangle is glued, which acts as a nose. Or paint in black with felt-tip pens.
  2. Two triangles are glued to the muzzle, protruding through the eyes of the animal.
  3. The ears are also made of two triangles in orange and black. The orange ear triangles should be larger than the black ones.
  4. A large orange triangle is also used for the body, in the middle of which a small white triangle is glued, imitating the belly of a fox.
  5. For the tail, cut out two triangles of orange and white colors, which are glued together with bases.

Also, with a baby of this age, you can make a person, a car, a cat and other applications of animals.

The truck is a popular craft that both boys and girls love to do. To create it, you will need to cut out two rectangles, one square and two large gray circles and two smaller circles, as well as a small light square.

Two rectangles and a large square are connected to the body of the car. Wheels are made from circles. The car applique is completed by gluing a small square that plays the role of a window in the body cab.

The child will love to make various animals from geometric shapes. You can show your imagination and create a stork, elephant, bear.

Most often, triangles, circles and ovals are used to make these applications.

It will be very interesting for the kid to collect parts among themselves, but some may need to use templates on which the figures are glued, or the help of an adult.

Preschoolers of this age love to make a frog, because it has bizarre shapes and does not require complex shapes.

  • To create a frog, you need to cut out some green circles. The larger one will be the body, the smaller one will be the head. Here you can use two identical circles to make the frog's applique volumetric.
  • For the paws, you need 4 identical circles.
  • The eyes are made of green circles, into which smaller white circles and still very small black circles are glued.
  • You can make an orange frog tummy from a circle and a red mouth from the same geometric shape.

It is not difficult to assemble such a frog from simple forms.

  • A green circle-body is glued onto a piece of paper. An orange circle is placed on it, imitating the belly of a frog.
  • After that, the legs are glued: 2 from the bottom, 2 from the side.
  • Next, one of the green circles for the head is glued.
  • The second green circle and the red circle are folded in half, the halves are glued together, after which the other side is also glued to the green base.
  • Next, eyes are attached, over which you can draw cilia.

Boys can be encouraged to create a robot from geometric shapes.

For older kids, making various ornaments will become attractive. It can be a carpet decorated with fancy patterns of squares, triangles and circles. With such an application, the child will be able to show his imagination, as well as develop perseverance and patience.

Products for grades 1-2

Schoolchildren attending the first and second grades can perform more complex applications using small details.

For these guys, a composition is suitable, where the child himself will need to cut out suitable figures for his future craft.

Children 6-7 years old also love to create various animals, for example: a cat, an owl or a dog. Making an owl is not that difficult. Here you just need to show patience and perseverance. Such activity develops the thinking and observation of the child.

Boys of this age love to create cars or boats, since squares, rectangles and triangles can be used for these applications.

Girls 8 years old most often give preference to making a bouquet in a vase.

Applying applications to thick cardboard will allow it to last much longer.

The design of a bouquet or a boat will depend only on the flight of the child's imagination and his observation. However, in some cases, they cannot do without the help of an adult.

Compositions for 3-4 classes

Students in these classes can create more complex compositions and present them as homework. In addition, such crafts help the child to concentrate, as well as to get carried away for a while.

Schoolchildren in grades 3-4 are happy to make flowers from colored paper, which can be a great gift for mom, grandmother or sister. In winter, they often have to create applications on winter themes, where they can depict various birds arriving for the winter and feeding from the feeder.

On the simplest applique, you can depict a clown, since bright elements are required to create it. The choice of colors will depend on the wishes of the child and the availability of paper in the house.

If you wish, you can use ready-made templates that are quite easy to find on the net.

Progress:

  1. you will need to cut out 5 bright circles that will play the role of balls for the performance;
  2. the sixth circle is made of light-colored paper to depict the face of a clown;
  3. the body is in the form of an oval;
  4. to create a stage clown costume, four triangles of the same color are used, and the hat is made in brighter shades;
  5. the legs and arms of the clown are created from 2 circles, which will be cut in half;
  6. a cut out five-pointed star will help the clown to make an original shirt-front;
  7. to collect a clown, first of all, an oval is glued, which acts as a body;
  8. after that, a star is glued to the top;
  9. a head with drawn eyes, nose and mouth will be placed on it;
  10. 4 triangles are attached to the oval, acting as sleeves and trousers;
  11. halves of a circle are glued to the sleeves, which play the role of hands, and halves of a circle, which will become legs, are glued to the legs;
  12. a triangle is glued on the clown's head - a hat;
  13. after collecting the clown, you can place colored balls around it - the applique is ready.

Having shown imagination, you can not only build houses from geometric shapes, but also build more complex structures. For example, you can make a castle. For it, you will need to cut out squares and rectangles that will act as the wall of the tower.A triangular roof should be placed on each wall, on which the same triangle or rectangular flag can be placed.

The walls of the castle are decorated with windows of various sizes and shapes. The selection of the shape for the windows will depend on the child's imagination.

Ideas on the internet can be used as inspiration.

The castle created by the kid can be supplemented with the moon and stars located nearby. You can suggest creating a forest of various trees or other details next to the castle.

The considered age (9–10 years) allows you to create more complex compositions and use a larger number of geometric shapes. Having shown perseverance, the child will be able to get various pictures and please his parents with talents.

Geometric appliques are a fairly simple way to keep your child busy for at least half an hour. They help develop perseverance, imagination and thinking. The main task of parents is, depending on age, to choose the most suitable picture, with the help of which the child will be keenly engaged in gluing geometric shapes.

When doing a craft with a baby, it is important to help him, and not do all the work for him.

Using templates that can be printed on a printer, you can spend time with your child in a fun and useful way, and decorate the room with ready-made crafts or send them to a competition.

Another way to create a rocket from geometric shapes is presented in the next video.
