Autumn is the best time to be creative with natural elements. All kinds of twigs, dried flowers, small stones, moss and leaves are used. Maple leaves, which have changed their summer color to autumn gold with burgundy spots, look especially beautiful in applications.

Let's take a closer look at what appliqués can be made from maple leaves, and also find out what additional materials you may need for work.

How to make a tree?

Perhaps the tree is the simplest and most understandable version of the maple leaf applique for children. The child can do this work on his own or with the help of his parents, depending on the desired result and the age of the baby.

It is worth noting that small leaves are more suitable for such an application - this way the crown of the tree will look more saturated and rich.

For work we need the following materials:

  • a sheet of paper or cardboard that will serve as a background;
  • colored pencils or paints;
  • glue.
  1. Optionally, you can prepare the background for application and depict a landscape with the sky, clouds and grass on it. But you can leave the background space free to focus on the tree.
  2. Next, we need to draw a tree trunk with spreading branches. The more branches there are, the more elegant and beautiful your applique will be. If you don’t know how to draw, or you don’t have any attributes at hand, you can use a stencil or a clipping of a tree from some children's magazine.
  3. While the paint or glue dries, let's prepare the foliage. The leaves must first be cleaned of dirt and dried, giving shape.A fabric or thick paper and an iron will help you with this. Each leaf must be placed between the layers of material and ironed well.
  4. After the leaves have cooled down, you can proceed to further work. At this stage, we need to use glue - we coat the back surface of each leaf with an adhesive mass and fix it on the branches of the tree.

The applique can be supplemented with fallen leaves, as well as with figures of animals and mushrooms made of paper.

Animal making

Crafts in the form of animals look very unusual and original, for the manufacture of which not only leaves are used, but also some additional materials. Let's take a closer look at the most interesting options for applications.

Fox

There are several ways to make a fox from maple leaves. Let's consider two of the simplest and most common ones.

The first method involves a certain sequence of actions.

  • We need maple leaves that are even and in different sizes. It is best to pre-prepare them by ironing them with an iron to keep them in shape.
  • Leaves must be painted with gouache or orange acrylic paints. It is worth taking a paint of a soft shade, then the animal will have a more delicate look.
  • Draw the fox's face in white along the edge of the sheet, and in black - the nose.
  • As eyes, you can use plastic elements intended for creativity. In the absence of those, we just draw the eyes.
  • Once completely dry, your application is ready. You can fix it on a piece of cardboard or use it on its own to play with your child.

By the same principle, an applique in the form of a wolf is made, if you replace the shades of colors with the appropriate ones.

The second way is also pretty simple.

  • We need one or two maple leaves, a piece of cardboard, glue, black and white colored paper. It is best to use one large maple leaf, which can be cut into three parts - in half, and one of the halves also divided into equal parts.
  • The whole half of the maple leaf will be the body of the fox, and two parts of the other half will be the muzzle and tail. We place the details on a piece of cardboard and glue them. Cut out parts for the eyes and nose from black and white paper, fix them with glue. The application is ready.

Swan

There are a number of steps to follow to make swans.

  • For work, you need to prepare a blank sheet of paper, colored pencils or paints, prepared maple leaves, cotton wool or feathers, small black beads, glue.
  • First, you need to decorate the background by painting it with the color you like. It is better to use light shades so that the background does not draw attention to itself from the swan itself.
  • Draw a neck and head with a pencil, then fill in the drawn space using feathers or cotton wool and glue. If you don't have black feathers, you can use paint. Then you get two birds of different shades.
  • Glue maple leaves as a torso. The applique should look like the birds have spread their wings. The beak needs to be painted red or orange, and we glue small beads as eyes.

Hedgehog

The ideal version of a children's applique on the theme "Autumn" is making a hedgehog.

To do this, you need to draw a stencil of the hedgehog's torso using a different arrangement of the animal. You can cut it out, or leave it just drawn on paper.

Further actions are very simple - the leaves are glued in the area of the body, where the needles should be located.

Thanks to this shape of the foliage and the dense arrangement, a thick needle-like hair is formed in autumn shades, which looks very original.

Craft in the form of a vase

A maple leaf vase can be made in several ways.

The first option is a voluminous craft that can be used as a decor in the interior.

The sequence of actions when working.

  • First you need to arm yourself with everything you need.To do this, you will need glue, a balloon, a paintbrush, scissors, leaves, and petroleum jelly.
  • The ball must be inflated to an elastic state, after which it is necessary to lubricate its surface with petroleum jelly - it will prevent the leaves from sticking to the surface.
  • Next, grease the leaves on both sides with glue and attach to the surface of the ball. The final coat only needs to be applied on one side.
  • We leave the craft to dry for several days, then gently blow off the ball. After complete drying, you can varnish the product.

The second option is an applique in the form of a vase on paper, but it can also be made voluminous. Let's take a closer look.

  • We need a sheet of thick paper or cardboard, half a plastic container, a glue gun, PVA glue, a frame and decorative items for decoration.
  • We glue the plastic part to the pre-arranged cardboard and decorate it to taste. You can use paint, decorative beads, or stones.
  • Apply glue to the leaves and attach them in the area of the resulting vase. For a more dramatic look, you can use a small branch of a maple tree.
  • The applique can also be supplemented with rowan branches or flowers.

Other interesting ideas

In addition to the above options, there are also many other ideas for making maple leaf appliques.

The applique manufacturing technology is very simple, therefore, it is actively used in children's art.

And how beautiful a peacock can be, whose tail is made of maple leaves! For the manufacture of the body, it is best to use plasticine - it will be firmly fixed on the foliage and diversify the application with shades.
