Dried leaves are a beautiful material, affordable and very easy to use. Another advantage is that it is suitable for crafts on any topic, not only autumn.

Material preparation

Before you start creating crafts, you need to properly prepare the main material, that is, dry the leaves. The easiest way is to neatly lay them out between the pages of a thick book, which is then pressed down with a heavy object. The dried plates will retain their color and even out, but become quite fragile. Fall leaves can also be spread between newspaper halves. When forming a stack, it is better to alternate newspapers themselves with paper napkins. A press from several books or any flat, but rather heavy object must be placed on top of the structure. Paper napkins need to be changed every 2-3 days so as not to provoke plant decay.

A good result can be obtained using an iron. Each autumn leaf is laid out between sheets of white paper and ironed until it dries completely. When working, it is important to be careful and monitor the degree regime, otherwise high temperatures will lead to spoilage of raw materials. Some craftsmen prefer to prepare the leaves with paraffin. To do this, in the microwave, a paraffin candle is melted to a liquid state, and then parts of plants are immersed in the resulting substance so as to cover the entire surface.

Craft materials can also be canned in glycerin. Part of the substance combines with two parts of water, after which the leaves are soaked in the resulting solution for several days.The plates are to be dried between sheets of white paper.

It is recommended to store the prepared material in closed folders or boxes, preventing sunlight and subsequent discoloration.

How to make fish?

With the help of dried leaves of different shapes and colors, it will be possible to populate the entire underwater world.

For example, to create fish, you can use:

  • a sheet of blue cardboard;
  • natural raw materials;
  • scissors;
  • PVA glue;
  • plastic doll eyes;
  • pencil;
  • felt-tip pens.

The work begins with the fact that in the center of the sheet a yellow sheet is attached, resembling the body of a fish. Next, 2 smaller oval sheets are glued in such a way as to form a tail. Together with yellow, burgundy plates look beautiful.

A heart is cut out of another red leaf, which will act as sponges. The rest of it is cut in half to get the fins. At the final stage, the underwater inhabitant receives a plastic eye, and twigs appear next to it, imitating algae.

Another beautiful fish is collected from dry ash, birch and poplar leaves. First of all, the outline of the creature is drawn on the cardboard, and the place for the eye is immediately marked. By the way, it can be cut out of colored paper, or drawn with a felt-tip pen. The mouth is drawn with a felt-tip pen. For the tail, you will need to use two large sheets, which are glued in such a way that one slightly overlaps the other. The fin is attached from above and below. The scales are obtained from small leaves of the same size. Their first row is laid out with a slight indentation from the eye, and each subsequent row should go a little on the previous one.

Appliques with flowers

A very beautiful application will turn out if you combine the herbarium with dried flowers.

You will need:

  • a sheet of cardboard of a suitable shade;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • a huge amount of natural raw materials.

A vase for a bouquet can be drawn, cut out of colored paper and glued to cardboard, or made from dried plates. Next, graceful leaves and twigs, flowers and rowan berries are alternately glued to the surface.

Other crafts

In fact, an applique made from autumn leaves can be done on any theme.

Animals

Usually, children really like to create crafts in the form of different animals. For example, a hare is quite easy to do - under the guidance of parents, even a baby 4-5 years old can cope with it.

For work, you will need beautiful leaves of birch, linden, maple and ash. The process begins with gluing a maple leaf for the body and a linden leaf for the head on the cardboard. The cheeks of the animal are formed from two birch leaves.

The elongated ash leaves are ideal for ears. Small plant plates will have to be glued to make the hare's legs and collar.

It is easier to cut out the details of the muzzle from black paper and fix it with PVA glue.

Quite simply, a protein is obtained from natural material: an oak leaf is suitable for its tail, and ears and paws will be obtained from a cut plate.

A maple leaf will be the perfect base for a fox or wolf face - all that remains on it is to fix a couple of ears made of smaller sheets and cardboard eyes with a nose. The animal's whiskers are drawn with a felt-tip pen.

To make an applique with a cat, you can draw the outline of the animal along with the tail, and then just fill it in with torn leaves. It is recommended to use plastic parts for dolls as pet eyes.

A large number of raspberry leaves can be folded into a herbivorous dinosaur - brachiosaurus, and from a rounded yellow plate - a turtle. Similarly, a deer with oak "ears", an elephant, a dog, a tiger or a bear with a birch "body" and "head" are obtained. It can be concluded that all animal applications are created in one of two ways: either the sheets are shredded and used to fill the contours, or they are selected in such a way as to match parts of real prototypes. As part of the creative process, it is also allowed to superimpose the plates on top of each other or cut out pieces of the required shapes and sizes from them.

Birds

Dried leaves make a very cute owl. Even children who are barely 3 years old will be able to perform such simple work under the supervision of a teacher in a kindergarten.

In addition to natural material, the following are involved:

  • cardboard;
  • a branch and a bunch of rowan;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • plasticine.

A dry yellow leaf is chosen to represent the body. If desired, its shape can be corrected with scissors. A smaller green plate is glued as a head.

Small pieces of black and white plasticine are suitable for creating eyes. The mouth is cut out of red cardboard or a suitable piece of paper.

A dry yellow plate is suitable for the eyebrows, and a couple of small leaves for the legs.

To make a volumetric applique with a bright rooster with your own hands, you will need to prepare:

  • the basis for work is a cardboard backing or ceiling tiles made of expanded polystyrene with sides equal to 50 centimeters;
  • dried leaves and herbs;
  • coffee beans and ash seeds;
  • napkins.

In addition to them, you will have to use scissors, PVA glue and a brush. Before drying, it is recommended to dip the natural material into a solution of water and glue, taken in a ratio of 1: 4. The work begins with drawing the body of the cock in the center of the base of the applique. The overlapping leaves you like are glued to PVA glue.

Their excess parts can be cut off or simply broken off. After the body of the bird is finished, you can move on to the head and neck. For the head of a rooster, a solid rounded yellow or orange leaf is suitable. From scraps of maple leaves, you can get a scallop and a beard. Ash seeds will mark the beak and clawed feet, and the coffee bean will mark the eye.

In the cock's tail, oblong plates on thin twigs will look great. Bird legs can be obtained from thin twigs or cuttings of leaf plates. The background of the work is made out with dry buds and pink petals. If desired, a frame of 4 cardboard strips is organized for the picture.

A cute parrot is created of colored cardboard, autumn leaves, glue and plasticine. Several thin sausages roll out of the brown plastic substance, which then form a branch. A dry oval leaf is glued to a cardboard base to indicate the body of the bird. The parrot's beak is made of red plasticine, and the eye is made of white and black pieces. Rowan leaves will allow you to decorate the creature with a tuft. A beautiful wing will turn out from a birch leaf. It, together with a part of the cotoneaster, forms the tail of a bird. The paws are most conveniently formed from black plasticine.

To get a peacock or turkey, you first need to collect a beautiful multicolored tail from leaves of different sizes. In the center of the composition is placed a round dark leaf on which plastic eyes are fixed.

Parts can be attached with glue or a stapler, but in the second case, the paper clips will need to be disguised under a piece of paper that imitates a beak.

Trees

To create DIY crafts on the theme of "Autumn" for school, the easiest way is to combine two techniques: drawing and applique. First, the background is drawn with paints and pencils, including the trunk of an autumn tree. The crown is formed from dried leaves of different sizes, they also stick to the ground and create swirls in the air. A more complex composition using the cut-off applique technique is also suitable for younger students to create with their own hands.

The job will require the use of:

  • cardboard;
  • PVA glue;
  • a bar of brown plasticine;
  • plastic stack;
  • rowan berries;
  • a simple pencil;
  • a large number of dried leaves.

The work begins with the fact that the trunk and branches of the tree roll down from the plasticine, which are immediately attached to the cardboard substrate by pressing. The stack will create small cracks on their surface. The contour of the crown is marked with a pencil, which is then abundantly coated with glue. The leaf blades are crushed into crumbs and scattered in the required area. Having marked the ground on the cardboard with a pencil, it should also be covered with glue and crumbs. Rowan berries are randomly scattered over the crown, imitating ripe apples.

A real work of art will be the work called "The Girl under the Umbrella". Since it cannot be called too easy, the help of parents may be required, but the result is worth it.

From materials and tools you will have to prepare:

  • white cardboard;
  • glue gun;
  • PVA glue;
  • black felt-tip pen;
  • various dry leaves;
  • pieces of bark;
  • scissors;
  • dried blades of grass.

The process begins with the silhouette of a girl under an umbrella being drawn on white cardboard. Then it is completely painted over in black using a felt-tip pen or paints.

The tree will need to be placed on the side of the girl. To get it from the bark with scissors, you will need to cut the trunk and several branches. It is recommended to fix them on paper with hot glue, since ordinary such heavy material will not be able to hold. The dried leaves are crushed into small pieces. It's great if they come out in different sizes and shades.

Small details will be needed to form the crown. To do this, the required area is covered with glue, after which it is abundantly sprinkled with blanks. Add new material until the tree is lush enough and the existing gaps are completely filled. The bottom of the picture is decorated with dried blades of grass, or thin elongated leaves. A few more plates can be placed near the tree, as if falling down. The hot glue creates a couple of drops on the umbrella.

Insects

It is more convenient to create a snail from dried leaves by combining several techniques. First, the body of an insect is drawn on a sheet of white paper, and the background is immediately drawn up with colored pencils or paints. The shell of a creature is formed from a large number of leaves, which are glued slightly overlapping, and all together create a rounded shape.

Using the same natural materials, the child can also create a butterfly, dragonfly, ladybug, bugs and other insects.

To create a butterfly, it is better to pick up paired leaves or approximately similar ones in order to get an even pattern as a result.

In addition, you will need:

  • paints;
  • a piece of the album sheet;
  • a pair of petals;
  • PVA glue.

The insect's chest and abdomen are laid out from long rounded blanks, and the head is formed either with a leaf of the desired shape or with an acorn cap. For the wings, petals of zinnia or any other flower are suitable, under which birch leaves are placed. Butterfly eyes can be painted with paints or molded from plasticine.

The dragonfly gathers in the same way. A couple of circles cut from leaves and one long plate - that is, a little body - are first glued onto a cardboard background. After the insect, four wings are added, and the two smallest circles are fixed on the head. The missing details of the work are drawn with a marker.

Carpet

Craft on the theme "Carpet of dried leaves" allows the child to show their imagination to the maximum, because there are no special requirements for its creation. The main thing is to prepare a large number of sheets of different shapes and sizes: birch, oak, maple and many others, and do not forget about the seeds of beans, chickpeas or peas, rowan berries and other additional materials.It will be more convenient for a child to glue the carpet details with glue or plasticine on a sheet of white A2 paper.

Technique

The application on the theme "Ship at sea" does not require any special materials.

For work you need to prepare:

  • mix of different leaves;
  • stick;
  • ash seeds;
  • paper;
  • watercolor paints;
  • a brush with PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • water.

The background is drawn with paints on white paper. The lower part will have to be painted over with bright blue, and the upper one with light gray or blue. In principle, several clouds and thunderclouds can be marked in the sky, and curls of waves can be drawn in the sea.

In the upper corner, the sun is formed from a rounded birch leaf and ash seeds.

The mast of the ship is indicated with a piece of a branch, and on top of it is attached a small leaf flag of a green hue. Sails are formed from large plates, if necessary cut off, and a boat and its reflection in the water are formed from a half of a leaf. Ash seeds, glued on the bottom, will act as fish.

By the way, dried leaves are also suitable for applications on the theme of "Robot", and a variety of machines, in general, can be cut from especially large plates.
