Crafts with children is not just another way to organize their leisure time. This is an opportunity to spend time together, at the same time give the child the opportunity to develop a sense of color, fine motor skills, and learn how to work with a variety of materials. Today we will talk about such a simple technique, which at the same time gives a huge scope for imagination, as an applique from threads.

Features of working with material

For children, working with threads is a very exciting activity, especially if the yarn is bright, and the child himself likes the picture. And this activity can also captivate adults - more complex options for techniques allow you to create unique interior decorations.

But let's start with the basic technologies. There are two main types of application:

  • standard;
  • using carnations.

For the first option, you only need the woolen threads themselves, cardboard, scissors, PVA glue, a brush, and a simple pencil to create a sketch. This is a great lesson option for children 4-5 years old.

The course of work in most cases will be the same.

  • Choosing or coming up with a drawing. Its parts should be large enough so that it is convenient to fill them with threads.
  • Making a sketch with a pencil.
  • We select the thread colors that are suitable for our applique. It is better to use fluffy or curly threads only when you and your child have already learned how to work with ordinary ones.
  • Apply glue to the outline of the drawing with a brush.
  • Press the thread to the glue line, wait for it to stick.
  • We draw up the contours, after that we begin to fill in the main parts of the picture. Press the threads tightly, try to fill in all the voids.
  • Leave the drawing to dry for a few hours.
  • Steam the finished work with an iron.

Then the work can be framed, or left as it is.

The second option is significantly different from the first. A wooden sheet will serve as the basis for us here, and in our work, in addition to woolen threads, a hammer, scissors and small nails will come in handy.

The initial stages coincide with the first technique - choose a drawing, make a sketch. Further:

  • carefully drive in carnations along the contour of the drawing;
  • we pull the threads, on the first nail it is better to make a strong knot.

Everything. With a difficult preparatory stage, in general, this method is even easier than the first.

How to make animal appliques?

Let us examine in detail several schemes so that in the future, acting by analogy, you can complete any application without problems.

Mouse

Materials:

  • cardboard, you can color;
  • threads of 4 colors - black for the eyes, nose and antennae of the mouse, gray for fur, pink for the belly and the inside of the ears;
  • PVA glue.

Progress.

  • We draw a mouse on the cardboard. We try to make the drawing come out suitable for our further actions. In fact, a few circles and ovals (head, ears, torso, eyes) and a nose cone will be enough for us.
  • We cut the threads. First for the outline along its length, then much finer to fill the background.
  • Draw out the outlines of the mouse with a dark thread.
  • Choose from which part to start filling the pattern with cut threads, liberally grease this area with glue. Do not coat the entire drawing with glue at once!
  • Fill the prepared area with threads. Press down to fix the material on the base.
  • Fill in the rest of the details in a similar way.

Everything! Our first application is ready. Now let's add new materials and try to make the craft more difficult.

Bear in the north

Materials:

  • cardboard;
  • dense white yarn;
  • white paper napkins;
  • foil or metallized colored paper;
  • red colored paper;
  • black paper with imitation velvet or a piece of black fabric;
  • PVA glue;
  • transparent glue, "Moment Crystal" is well suited.

Progress.

Bear:

  • We draw the details of our bear - the body and 2 legs.
  • Cut out the details.
  • Finely chop the white threads.
  • Lubricate the body of the bear with PVA glue, cover it with "fur".
  • We do the same with the paws.
  • When the parts are dry, cut off the threads sticking out on the sides, and glue the paws to the bear.
  • From fabric or velvet paper we make the nose and eyes of the bear, and from red paper we make the mouth. We glue the details to the applique.

Background:

  • Glue foil or metallized silver paper onto a sheet of cardboard.
  • We crumple the napkins and, having blotted them with PVA, lay out a snowdrift.
  • Optionally, decorate the background with sequins or paper snowflakes.
  • We glue our polar inhabitant.

The panel is ready!

Combined options

As our bear showed, it is not necessary to limit yourself to simply gluing threads to cardboard. Adding other materials to the applique made of colored threads, or experimenting with the yarn itself, you can get very unexpected results. Moreover, it is not at all required to do something supernatural.

Twisted threads. Snail

A master class for those who have already got the hang of making simple applications. The peculiarity of the twisted thread applique technique is that, before placing the threads on cardboard, they must be screwed onto a pen or pencil and the resulting column must be glued. However, you can twist the threads in any other way convenient for you.

Materials:

  • cardboard;
  • threads of different colors;
  • acrylic paints;
  • felt-tip pens;
  • PVA glue.

Progress.

  • First, draw a pencil sketch of our snail. The curls of her "house" should be quite large.
  • When the sketch completely satisfies us, we outline it with a felt-tip pen.
  • We coat the lines of the main contour with glue.
  • We twist and glue the thread of the first color.
  • We glue the tip of the twisted thread to the center of the “house” greased with glue, form a spiral, gradually filling the entire shell. You can twist threads of several colors together.
  • The snail's muzzle and "tail" can be filled with just cut threads, or played with twisted ones.The main thing is to fill as much space as possible.
  • When the snail is dry, we decorate the background with acrylic or felt-tip pens.

As a result, we get a bright and, most importantly, three-dimensional picture.

Picture from cotton wool. Lamb

Cotton wool is the best material to imitate clouds and snow on appliqués. Or, for example, the wool of a lamb. Volumetric, soft, is in every home. It's time to use it and make an adorable lamb in the meadow with your own hands.

Materials:

  • cotton wool;
  • colored threads;
  • White paper;
  • cardboard;
  • napkins;
  • paint, acrylic or gouache;
  • glue.

Progress.

  • As in any of our other examples, first draw a sketch of our sheep.
  • We decorate the horns of our sheep with cut threads.
  • When they are dry, go to the fur coat. We tear the cotton wool and carefully glue it to our curly lamb.
  • From napkins torn into pieces of different colors, we twist balls - pink for beads, cheeks, flowers, yellow - for the sun and the heart of daisies.
  • First we glue the beads, cheeks and a flower hairpin.
  • Coloring the eyes of the lamb.
  • We collect daisies from white paper and yellow balls.
  • We decorate the sun.

You can add even more flowers to the drawn grass, make cotton wool clouds in the sky, or add threads to some of the blades of grass.

More ideas

The scope for your creativity is not limited to these works. Almost any drawing can be decorated in similar ways.

Autumn forest

Before that, many of our works were in one way or another connected with different animals. Now let's try to make a landscape.

Materials:

  • printout with tree trunks;
  • cardboard;
  • yarn in autumn colors;
  • yarn for decorating individual elements of the trunk (optional);
  • PVA glue;
  • acrylic or gouache.

Work progress.

  • We print the trunks of our trees on the printer and cut them out.
  • We try them on a cardboard background, outline where they will be.
  • We draw grass and sky on cardboard.
  • We glue the trees to the designated places.
  • We cut the threads into small centimeter strips.
  • We glue our foliage to the trees.

If there is a desire, we supplement the bark with threads. Ready! The result is a warm, autumnal composition.

Dandelion

Well, of course, this method can be used to make a flower arrangement. In our case - mother and stepmother or dandelion, depending on the chosen thread color.

Materials:

  • green cardboard (for leaves);
  • yellow (white) and green threads;
  • colored paper;
  • colored napkins;
  • watercolor;
  • glue;
  • Toothbrush;
  • toothpick.

Progress.

  • We dip the toothbrush into the paint and, holding the brush over the paper, we brush over the bristles with a toothpick. First we use yellow, then green.
  • Cut out dandelion leaves from green colored paper.
  • Finely chop the green thread, decorate the leaves with it.
  • Cut out the stem from the same green paper. We glue the leaves and the stem to the cardboard.
  • We cut out a square from a sheet of cardboard, fold it and wrap it with yellow or white thread. We remove the blank of the pom-pom from the cardboard.
  • We tie the middle of the "flower" with a thread of the same color and cut along the edges.
  • We open the pom-poms.
  • We glue them to the stem.
  • We make grass from torn green napkins.

We enjoy the results of our labors.

As you can see, everything is very simple. But how can your fantasy and the fantasy of a child unfold.

Applications can be supplemented with a variety of details, resulting in the most real masterpieces, which you are not ashamed to decorate your home with.
