Volumetric applique making
The time when parents are engaged in creativity with their children is priceless. One of the favorite creative activities of preschoolers and children of 7-8 years old is the technique of volumetric application.
What it is?
Everyone knows the applique technique, when cut figures of a certain shape are glued to paper or some other material. The result is flat pictures or whole compositions. But the technique of cutting and gluing shapes from paper to the base is much broader. One of the interesting varieties of this type of visual technique is volumetric applique. It looks much more realistic than a flat one.
Cutting and bending exercises are useful for developing hand motor skills, as well as for fostering accuracy and hard work in children. The creation of a volumetric applique also contributes to the improvement of spatial thinking.
How to make flowers?
In kindergarten, you can make beautiful postcards with voluminous flowers. In the process, the little ones will get acquainted with some flowering plants and learn to distinguish between them. Children over 5 years old can easily cope with work on volumetric appliqués with the image of flowers. It is better to choose a simple pencil of medium softness. Scissors used by children should have rounded ends. What other materials are required are indicated for each application separately.
Cactus
Most people have live cacti on their windows. Everyone is familiar with these thorny cuties. Crafting materials: light-colored cardboard, glue (better than PVA), colored paper (green, red or pink, brown).
Manufacturing workshop.
- You must select a background color.
- Cut out patterns: small flowers and semicircles of different sizes.
- Fold a green leaf in half.Place the fold on the flat edge of the template. Prepare 5 sets of identical parts each (less is possible, then the cactus will be lower).
- Prepare 3-4 pink or red flowers.
- The thorns will be brown. They should be in the form of very elongated triangles 1.5-3 cm long.
- You need to glue the cactus fragments from the bottom up. For this, the largest part is taken, half of its outer side is greased with glue. 3-5 needles and the other part of the cactus process are glued there.
- In the same way, you will need to make 3 or 4 more blanks.
- We glue all parts to a cardboard base in the form of a cactus.
- Next, you need to take the prepared flowers, raise the petals up. So they will look like they are alive.
- Attach them to the cactus.
Lily
Lilies are very graceful, and their colors are varied. To make a volumetric applique "Lily" you need:
- white cardboard for the base;
- orange and white paper;
- PVA glue;
- felt-tip pens (green, black, yellow).
Making a lily step by step.
- Cut 8 identical orange petals.
- Glue 6 chamomile-shaped petals onto the prepared cardboard base. Glue the petals only in the center, leave the edges free.
- Put small black dots, the view will be more natural.
- Make the petals voluminous by lifting in the center, and fix the tips on the base with glue.
- Cut 3 thin strips of white. These are the future stamens of the lily.
- Paint the edges of the stamens with a yellow felt-tip pen.
- Glue the stamens with a cross in the center of the flower.
- Draw the trunk and leaves of a lily with a green felt-tip pen.
- From the remaining 2 blanks, buds will be obtained.
chamomile
For work you will need: white and colored paper, compasses, ruler, colored cardboard.
Application "Chamomile" step by step.
- Cut 9 white stripes. Each strip should be about 10 cm long and about 15 mm wide.
- Fold the strips in half and glue the ends. These will be petals.
- Cut a long strip of green paper. This will be the stem of the chamomile.
- Cut out the chamomile leaves.
- Using a pair of compasses and scissors, draw and cut out the core of a daisy out of yellow paper. The core diameter is 3 cm.
- Glue the white paper loops to one side of the yellow circle.
- Glue the stem, chamomile leaves onto the base, and the resulting volumetric flower on top.
If you wish, you can make a chamomile bouquet from several identical daisies.
Tulips
Tulips are popular spring flowers. For the holiday on March 8, you can invite children to make a beautiful volumetric application "Tulips". This will require: white and colored paper of different shades, light cardboard, a small ruler, glue.

- Fold the circle in half 2 times. Expand. Cut one of the 4 parts obtained by folding.
- Roll up the cone and glue it. This is the roof of one of the towers. Do the rest in the same way.
- Attach them to the cylinders.
- With a felt-tip pen, draw windows and doors.
