What kind of applications can I do with babies?

Applique making is a fun yet rewarding activity for children to develop fine motor skills and creativity. In this article, we will offer options for applications for the smallest and not only.

It is easiest for kids from 1 to 2 years old to make their first applique from different geometric shapes. Almost any animal can be made of them: a cat, a bear, a frog, a horse, a tiger cub, a duck, a cockerel or a giraffe. To work on the craft, you will need a sheet of paper, cardboard, glue stick, a marker and a pair of compasses. Let's figure out how to make a dog. To begin with, draw 4 circles of the same diameter with a compass and cut out. We put two of them aside, and the other two - bend strictly in half, smooth along the fold line. We make a cut along the same line, thus obtaining several details for the applique at once: a tail, two ears and paws.

Now we lay out the parts in the desired sequence. Two whole circles are the body and the head, the tail and legs are attached to them. We glue the parts, carefully smearing them with glue, and then draw a dog's face with a black felt-tip pen. If desired, the muzzle can be cut out of the same colored paper. Or you can buy plastic eyes in the store - in this case, the applique will look more ridiculous. The dog is ready! By analogy with it, any other animals are created. Even the smallest child can make such an application.

It will be most interesting for boys to make an applique in the form of this or that vehicle. It can be a steam locomotive, bus, truck, train, or even an entire ship. For the smallest, it will be easiest to make such an applique also in the form of geometric shapes. For work, you will need colored paper, a simple pencil, scissors, glue and cardboard.

Let's make a truck. To do this, you need to cut out several rectangles: one large - for the body, one smaller - for its lower part, two - for the cab, while one should be shorter, and one square - for the window. And also you need to cut out two circles of the same diameter - these will be the wheels of the truck.

Now we lay out the parts on a cardboard base in the right order and glue them. If desired, we draw individual details using felt-tip pens and supplement the applique with various elements of colored paper, for example, you can cut out trees, birds, the sun or clouds. All this is done at your discretion.

There is another option for creating a similar application. For it, you will need to additionally print and cut out the templates according to which the parts will be made. The templates must be circled on colored paper, cut and glued in the desired sequence.

For older children, there is a more difficult, but at the same time, more exciting option for creating such a craft - this is a breakaway applique. This unusual work is done quite easily, and the materials for it will be the same: paper, glue, scissors, a simple pencil and cardboard. First you need to draw one or another vehicle on a sheet of cardboard. If you have problems with drawing, it doesn't matter. You can print a template with the pattern you need and circle it, or even just stick it on.

Further, the course of work is very simple: the paper of the desired color must be torn into small pieces. Then these pieces fill the empty areas of the picture. Each of the pieces of paper is carefully coated with glue and glued, thus a color image should be obtained. If desired, the applique can be supplemented with a variety of patterns.

Making vegetables and fruits for kids 2-3 years old will not be difficult. It can be turnips, cabbage, apples, and lemon. If you wish, you can make an applique in the form of a whole bowl with a variety of fruits and vegetables. There are several ways to create such an applique. The first one is the simplest. For it, you need to print a template, cut it out, circle it on paper of the desired color and glue it. This option is suitable for crafts in the younger group of the kindergarten.

For older children, it is recommended to choose a more complex option. It involves drawing fruits and vegetables and then cutting them out. At the same time, the child must also cut out or draw with a felt-tip pen individual elements for the applique, be it a stem or a stem of a fruit.

To create voluminous fruits, you will need to cut several identical parts at once. For convenience, it is better to fold the paper several times into an accordion and cut out the silhouette of a fruit or vegetable from it - this way you can make several identical parts at once. As a result, you should get 4 parts of the fruit or vegetable you need.

We fold each of the parts strictly in half, coat them with glue along the fold line and glue them together, forming the fruit or vegetable you need so that it turns out to be voluminous. After that, we glue the resulting craft on cardboard. If you wish, you can make the whole composition in this way, additionally cutting out other fruits and vegetables, as well as a basket or bowl for them.

There are many other options for creating do-it-yourself children's applications. You can make them using ready-made templates or drawings drawn by children. If you wish, you can use the breakaway technique - this will make the application more interesting and original. The most interesting thing for a child will be to make an applique in the form of heroes from books: for example, in the form of a kolobok, a turnip, or even in the form of a whole house together with its inhabitants.

Cartoon characters can also serve as inspiration for creating an applique, be it Fixies, Cheburashka, Smeshariki or Luntik. Natural phenomena can also serve as the basis for creating an interesting applique: rain, snow, sun with clouds - even a small child can make all this out of paper, without resorting to the help of adults.
