Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on April 12. The production of the Solar System applique can be dated to this date. The craft is also performed for the purpose of teaching children the planetary system in outer space. Usually, silhouettes of celestial bodies made of plastic Christmas tree decorations, colored paper, candy wrappers, plasticine or other material are attached to a dense base.

How to make from paper?

Children can create crafts on a space theme on their own. Most often, the Solar System applique is made of colored paper. The first step is to do suitable blanks. First you need to prepare a blue or black sheet. The child can paint the white Whatman paper in the appropriate color by himself. From above, you can sprinkle it with silver or purple paint. The sheet is toned with a toothbrush and a comb. To do this, gouache is picked up with a toothbrush and carried over it with a comb, moving forward and backward. The spray paint transforms the dark base into a sky dotted with small stars and cosmic dust.

Then, orbits should be applied to the dried Whatman paper with silver paint. The corresponding planets should be glued to them. To make space bodies, preschoolers receive white circles and paint them on their own. You can give kids ready-made multi-colored circles that act as planets. And also children can cut out circles with their own hands from the squares handed out to them.

Then the child sticks each planet or satellite on a Whatman paper with a glue stick at a certain distance from the Sun. You can stick white or orange corrugated paper squares on top of the glued circle. The massive planet immediately begins to differ in its unusual appearance.

In order to give spots on the surfaces of planets, bubbles are blown out of a cocktail tube, obtained from a mixture of liquid soap, gouache and water. Some people prefer to decorate the dwarf planet Pluto with ice floes made from eggshells.

Applique making is a very exciting activity for children. In addition, in the process of work, the baby develops mental abilities and fine motor skills of the hands. While sticking objects, adults should recite rhymes that reflect the order of the planets.

The child remembers it easily.

Making from candy wrappers

A wonderful teaching aid for children is the hand-made manufacture of the solar system from multi-colored candy wrappers. First, you need to depict on black cardboard with white lines a part of the Sun's circle and the orbits of the planets. The next step is to glue the Sun, to which you can add golden rays with transparent glue with glitters.

Most experts believe that Pluto does not need to be glued, since it has been ruled out by astronomers as the ninth planet in the solar system. For this reason, the model most often consists of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are cut from candy wrappers.

The mugs of different sizes have the corresponding color. Each circle must be glued to the desired orbit. The entire planetary system is decorated with stars cut from silver and gold candy wrappers. For this purpose, candy wrappers are folded like an accordion and cut out several pieces at once.

The names of the planets can be glued with double-sided tape. After complete drying, the application is placed in a place designated specifically for it.

Useful Tips

To get even circles that serve as planets when creating an applique, experts advise using a compass. With it, you can easily cut circles of different diameters. A small relief of the structure is given by the coating of space bodies with a transparent varnish. To add volume, a good option is to select the appropriate pebbles or buttons depicting the planets. Celestial bodies can be cut from scraps of beautiful fabric. It is best to do corrugated paper work using ready-made stencils.

For the development of fine motor skills of hands, working with plasticine is great. The difficulty of performing plasticine applications lies in the fact that not every child can make individual elements from this material. The result of the work depends on the creative abilities of the kid and his age.

It is best to use wax clay, because it adheres well to the base, does not leave greasy marks and does not have a pungent odor.

To create the background, select black or dark blue round cardboard. Then a plasticine sun is placed in the center and white stripes around it at a certain distance. A planet is placed in each orbit. First you need to make a circle of the corresponding color. Then you should flatten it and press it against the cardboard with your finger. Large plasticine balls are usually turned into planets, small ones - into stars.

In the process of working on the application with children, they must discuss all the features and main differences of large planets. It is necessary to consider the star atlas together with the kids. Children must imagine the real dimensions of all celestial bodies. Thus it is necessary to compare them with the Sun. Kids are interested in the difference between the terrestrial planets and gas giants.

It is very important to show the child pictures of the Earth. Draw attention to its real shape. Let the kid ponder why the globe is not round, but looks like an apple. Children should try to mold an irregular plasticine ball.

An original applique can be made from Christmas tree decorations.A yellow papier-mâché sun is usually glued onto the blue circle, around which orbits are drawn. Plastic Christmas toys that play the role of planets are glued onto them with a glue gun.
