Balayage on black hair: what is it and how to do it?
Balayage made on dark hair looks very impressive and stylish. This is a completely new technique, but every season it becomes more and more perfect, and the result of such coloring looks great. The method is good for those brunettes who dream of changing their appearance, but do not dare to do it.
Description
The balayage technique was presented in the fashion capital Paris, in translation the term means "sweep away" - and this fully corresponds to the coloring technology: in this case the master applies dye to the hair, and after a few minutes sweeps it away along the entire length of the hair... For a long time, balayage was used only for light hair, but recently the technique has become in demand among the owners of dark curls, while it is better if the hair is natural - previously colored ones do not give the desired effect.
Increased interest to the dyeing technique balayazh for black and dark blond hair explained quite simply:
- coloring gives the hair additional splendor and volume, visually makes them thicker;
- helps to quickly change the color of the hair, without resorting to a radical change in the basic tone;
- does not need frequent adjustments, as it grows, it looks aesthetically pleasing for a long time;
- affects no more than 50% of the hair, in addition, it does not affect the roots and does not come into contact with the scalp, therefore the technique is considered more gentle than monochromatic dyeing;
- allows you to carry out a variety of beauty experiments with shades that can be either similar to the native tone or contrasting, while if you don’t like the result, you can always repaint it;
- balayazh on black hair has practically no age restrictions - it looks harmonious on both young girls and ladies of mature age, moreover, it can effectively disguise gray hair, therefore, women who have crossed the 40-year mark appreciate it.
Balayazh used for strands of any length, density and structure, it lies equally effectively on straight and curly hair, with and without bangs, on thin and dense ones. Coloring successfully masks some defects in appearance and allows you to set off the merits - it is no coincidence that toning was appreciated by many movie stars and famous models.
However, this coloring has its own limitations:
- the technique is difficult for masters with low qualifications, and if you do it yourself at home, then staining looks like ordinary highlighting;
- balayazh on black strands requires good styling, otherwise the hair may have an unpleasant and unkempt look;
- when toning dark hair, there is always a risk of not getting the color that was expected, and as a result, the hair can look dirty and dull.
Despite the fact that the technique is quite gentle, it still involves a chemical effect, therefore it harms the hair shaft and causes the ends to split.

Balayage on the owners of dark curls is performed in several basic techniques - gradients between the tones used can be soft, blurry, or rather harsh and laconic. Coloring mixtures can be applied both over the entire mop, and in its individual areas.
- Full balayage - This is a dyeing process that involves dyeing most of the hair. It is this option that allows you to give the strands maximum density and volume. This procedure is carried out in several main stages: first, only the strands on the crown are painted, then in the center, at the final stage, the hair is treated in the frame of the face, as well as at the ends.
- Average - in this case, several small strands are selected from the entire head of hair, covered with lightening compositions, and then a tint composition is applied. The result of such coloring looks quite gentle, as natural as possible. The strands are chosen randomly, so the hair looks as if it has burned out a little in the hot sun.
- On the tips - in this version, only the ends of the mop are painted over, this toning option largely depends on the wishes of the woman herself: they are made out both perfectly clear and in the form of asymmetric zones. The first option is suitable for strong and elegant young ladies, while the second is more suitable for young and daring girls.
- Photo balayage - this is an interesting and non-trivial way of coloring, when the stretching of the palette is made very soft and smooth, so that the tips visually differ from the base tone by only a couple of shades. Despite the blur, the contrast effect of the photo balayage is clear and pronounced.
- Balayage near the face - as a result of this coloring, only those strands that frame the oval of the face are toned. This solution allows you to emphasize the contours, tighten the oval, refresh the complexion and focus on the expressiveness of the features.
- Gradient - here they use several shades that are similar to each other, which smoothly merge into one another, while the shades can be both traditional and saturated, contrasting.
- Bright - this is an effective and stylish method of changing the color of native strands, in which case they turn to red, green, blue, as well as purple or orange shades - the choice is limited solely to the woman's own imagination and lifestyle.
How to choose the right shade?
Depending on from the color type of the woman and the shade of the native head of hair brunettes are recommended various options for selecting tones for coloring.
On black hair
Looks very impressive here gray and pearl strands, they look especially stylish on ladies with white skin and very light eyes. This option changes a woman almost beyond recognition, however, for women who have celebrated their 30th birthday, it is worth being careful with ashy tones, since they can emphasize even the smallest wrinkles and add extra age.
Lovers of bold bows should take a closer look to fiery red shades or ginger - they create a stylish contrast, and such coloring can be performed both along the entire length and on just the ends. But in order to achieve the most natural effect, it is better to give preference to tones. tea, chocolate and coffee colors, also looks good wine, bronze and raspberry. For supporters of bold experiments, you should choose lilac, pink or purple shades.

Brown-haired hair will be best set off caramel and light honey notes, they will accentuate the natural brown color, thanks to which the hairstyle will look as natural as possible. You can get an effect similar to bronzing if you take it for coloring beige, golden and wheat shades - as a result, the dyed hair will flicker and shimmer in the light, especially if you take several tones of the same light color.
If you want to make a bright colored balayage, then here you should choose yellow, red and orange shades.
For light brown hair
It will be appropriate here tortoiseshell stainingwhen caramel, chocolate and chestnut colors are used in combination for balayage with mahogany... The dyed strands are slightly darker than the original color, but the effect is truly impressive.
Technique for different hair lengths
The dyeing technique may vary depending on the length of the strands.
Short
When dyeing very short hair in the style of balayage strands first comb so much that they stick out almost vertically, if the curls are initially recalcitrant and do not keep their shape, you can lightly sprinkle them with varnish.
The foil is cut into small squares, smeared with paint and wrapped around the ends of the hair. After the allotted time, the pigment is washed off with water and washed with shampoo. Of course, not all hairstyles go for balayage - usually it is done only on a bean or square.
Average
For balayazha into curls up to shoulder length, the heap is divided into several identical sections and tied with an elastic band. Places near the rubber bands are wrapped in foil, and protruding tips first lighten and then tint with a brush.
Long
Long strands of brunettes are dyed as follows: from a total head of hair choose several thin curls in a chaotic manner, put chopped foil under them, then smear with paint and carefully wrap.
When coloring for long and medium curls, the paint is kept for half the time, after which it is swept down with a comb, after which it is left for a few more minutes and only then washed off.
Care advice
Any head of hair requires good care, but for dyed dark hair this is especially important, since in order to achieve the desired shade, black and brown hair is corroded first, and only then tinted.
In the course of such manipulations, under the influence of reagents, keratin scales are lifted, which are lined with the upper layers of each hair, which is why the key factor in leaving hair after balayage is to restore the natural protection of the strands.
In order to solve such a problem, you should use the following recommendations:
- if you color dyed hair, then you can carry out all the necessary manipulations no earlier than 3-4 weeks after the main toning;
- the procedure is recommended to be carried out no more often than once a quarter;
- for high-quality care for dyed hair, preference should be given to specialized products that do not contain sulfates;
- every two weeks you need to do nourishing and moisturizing hair masks;
- after washing your hair, it is better to dry your head in a natural way, and if you have to use a hairdryer, then supply cold air;
- try not to create heat-laying too often, and if necessary, be sure to use protective compounds.
And, of course, don't forget about the special vitamins - colored strands require replenishment not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Nowadays, in any pharmacy you can always buy multivitamin complexes, which are created to improve the condition of the hair. They need to drink 2-3 courses a year.
