Balayage for medium-length dark hair

If a woman with dark hair decides to slightly change her image, then one of the most stylish solutions is dyeing in the fashionable technique of balayage. For the first time balayage was presented in France in the 70s of the last century, but it became most popular only in the last decade. Translated balayage means "revenge, sweep", which gives two basic versions explaining the name of the technique:

• dyeing method - chaotic strokes are applied to the strands, which from the side slightly resemble waving with a broom;
• the new shade seems to "sweep away" the original color, giving it brightness, shimmer, shine and undoubted nobility.

The result of this coloring is iridescent strands that form the effect of strands burnt out in the sun. This color looks very impressive and stylish at the same time.

First of all, these are soft accents that are applied to the middle part of the hair and their ends, and secondly, a variety of the technique used.

• Full balayage - the method is very similar to bronding, and in either case, several shades of the same color are used. This coloring looks natural and truly gorgeous.
• Average - rather resembles ordinary highlighting, however, the coloring pigment in this case is applied randomly, and the number of strands is determined only by the woman herself at her discretion.
• On the tips - as the name of the technique suggests, here the paint is applied only to the very ends of the hair. This is the safest and most sparing option, in addition, if the experiment was unsuccessful, then at any time you can cut off the color you do not like without much damage to the length.

In most cases, balayazh is done in natural shades, but if the soul still asks for something bright and contrasting, then you can pick up red, blue, orange, as well as pink, lilac or purple shades, while the boundaries between them are clearly defined and clear.

The balayage technique has many advantages:

• suitable for both natural and colored hair;
• can be used for women of any age, style and social status;
• the composition is applied to strands of absolutely any length, this is the main difference between the technique and the same ombre, which looks good only on long and medium hair;
• balayazh can radically change a woman's appearance, bring zest and sophistication to her appearance;
• it is considered a relatively gentle method, since in this case no more than 50% of the hair is covered with paint;
• masks minor defects in appearance, while emphasizing the depth of the look and a beautiful oval;
• fits stylishly on both straight and curly hair, can be used on thin and unruly hair;
• does not require frequent correction - staining should be repeated no more than 3-6 times a year.

However, it was not without its drawbacks:

• balayazh requires regular styling, if this is not done, then the hair will have an untidy and unkempt look;
• the technique is rather complicated in execution, therefore it is better to turn to professional masters for coloring, otherwise the result may not meet your expectations;
• when performing the technique on your own at home, in most cases it resembles the most common highlighting;
• when balayage on dark curls, it is very easy to make a mistake, choosing the right shades - in this case, the hair will be dull and dirty.

Dyeing using the balayage technique in salons starts from 2,000 rubles, while the higher the qualifications of the master and the longer the hair, the higher the final cost. If you do the work yourself, they will cost you the cost of paint and related materials - brushes, capes and gloves.

In order for the colored strands to look as effective as possible, you should correctly choose the right shade for coloring the strands. Keep in mind that balayage does not accept the use of multiple colors - here you can only experiment with shades of the same tone. To choose it, one should proceed from the main features of the appearance - the color type and the native shade.

Young ladies with dark curls should give preference to amber and bronze tones. Ashy strands look quite stylish, but keep in mind - in order to get the desired shade, for a start, dark-haired young ladies will have to lighten part of the hair.

Black-haired women can be advised with pearl shades that will ideally set off raven hair, this combination looks especially good on women with white skin and light eyes.

These colors are effective on long curls, when the hair falls below the shoulder blades. However, there is a pronounced age restriction here - women who have crossed the 30-year mark should be as careful as possible with the choice of ashy shades, since they tend to emphasize even the smallest wrinkles.

A rather elegant contrast is created by fiery red tones, such a balayazh, painted at the ends, looks especially good.

For dark brown hair, you should take a closer look at honey and caramel shades, which will emphasize the natural color scheme, in this case, the overall look of the hairstyle is as natural and tidy as possible.

If you carry out balayage using golden and beige tones, you can achieve a shimmering effect similar to fashionable bronzing - in this case, the strands shimmer, this coloring looks especially good if you use several related shades.

For girls with dark blond hair, tortoiseshell coloring looks very impressive - here they combine golden blond, caramel, as well as honey and chocolate shades.

As a result, the curls are slightly darker than the natural color, but due to the successful combination of shades, the strands begin to shine and shimmer.

There are several more interesting options for staining using the balayage method:

• cherry shade, as well as burgundy and marsala look very stylish, and not only at the very tips, but also along the entire length;
• often stylists recommend dyeing the roots in eggplant tones, combining them with burgundy flowers - the best solution for brunettes with a winter color type;
• chestnut curls are tinted with amber, and the roots are painted in bronze colors;
• pink looks very good - both by itself and in combination with lilac or fuchsia;
• at the peak of popularity is blue-blue, which allows you to create a dazzling image, distinguishing its owner from any crowd.

Balayage will be an excellent solution for those brunettes who do not intend to radically change their base hair color, but at the same time strive to look more spectacular and attractive. The shade at the very top can be made a little darker or left the same, but the tips can be slightly whitened, the contrast effect adds boldness to the look, a note of determination and challenge.

Balayage technology includes several stages.

• To begin with, the shock is divided into curls, fixing each of them with clamps.
• The desired shade is applied to all strands, while it is well distributed along the entire length. To make the border clearer, the coloring composition is applied to pieces of foil, they are wound on curls. However, if you want the shade to flow smoothly, then you can do without foil.
• 3-4 minutes after applying the composition, the paint should be combed down with a comb - this will make the shade more wavy and the transitions blurred.
• The paint is left for 20-25 minutes, after which it is washed off, and the hair is treated with a fixative.

Girls who intend to do balayage at home should know a few rules:

• all used detergents and care products must be labeled "for colored hair" - that is, without sulfate content;
• when buying shampoo, conditioner and mask, give preference to those that have additional effects - color retention and shine enhancement;
• timely treat the ends of the hair with preparations against sectioning and brittleness, and in addition, trim them from time to time in a hairdresser;
• Apply regenerating masks based on natural essential oils to your hair at least once every 2 weeks;
• when using a curling iron, iron or hair dryer, pre-apply thermal protective complexes to the hair;
• try not to overdo it with foams, mousses and other styling products - an excessive amount of them makes your hair look messy and unkempt;
• when visiting the pool and on vacation, be sure to protect your strands from chlorine and ultraviolet radiation.

Balayazh is a dyeing technique with a history of more than 50 years, but the maximum surge in popularity occurred only in recent seasons.

Today this coloring method is one of the most demanded and, accordingly, expensive staining methods. This style was preferred by such cult divas as Julia Roberts, Gisele Bündchen, Erin Wasson and many other famous Hollywood actresses and popular models.

Balayazh looks spectacular on black hair, especially if you color it in ashy and pearl shades - the image becomes very well-groomed and refined.

For owners of chestnut curls, honey and caramel tones are suitable, in this case the hair looks as natural as possible.

In most cases, I use the technique for long-haired women, but owners of short strands can also take advantage of some subtleties - namely, choose a shade that is as close to natural as possible, use 2-4 similar tones so that the transition is almost imperceptible. By the way, stylists believe that the most daring experiments can be carried out on short hair - since such hair grows quite quickly, and a woman at any time can cut off everything that she did not like when coloring, trying some new interesting option.

Experts predict that balayage will remain in fashion for more than one season, this is not surprising, because it helps women look younger, more spectacular and attractive.
