The main task of removing a balcony is to increase its area. Unfortunately, most of the housing stock, especially the old one, cannot boast of large apartments. Therefore, it is quite understandable that people want to enlarge the rooms, combining them with balconies and enlarge the balconies themselves to make the resting place more comfortable. In recent years, loggias and balconies have been massively glazed. This gives an obvious advantage - the space is protected from wind, rain, snow, dust and dirt.

This kind of installation also has disadvantages - the massiveness of the structure takes up part of the area for itself. Even the lightweight version minus the dimensions by about a square meter. In order to equip a beautiful and comfortable balcony without reducing it, many are considering the possibility of taking it out. This method has both pros and cons.

Advantages and disadvantages

It is unlikely that anyone will be delighted with the idea of significantly reducing the balcony area. If it is possible to avoid this, then this is a method of glazing balconies with a take-out. Due to such glazing, not a decrease, but an increase in area... In this case the window opening and the bottom of the balcony are moved outside the slab... Such a balcony hangs above the ground, as if bulging forward.

The increase in size is especially important for small apartments in the old housing stock, for example, "Khrushchev".

In housing of such a layout, meters were saved on everything, including on the balconies. However, there are many options when the balcony space combined the kitchen and the hall. Such an enlarged balcony can become much more comfortable. If you combine it with living rooms, the apartment will become much more spacious. On a balcony with such glazing, you can equip a wide-type window sill, very comfortable.

As for the loggias, these works are not very effective.: no one will allow you to move the walls forward, and one increase in the slab will do little. Despite the obvious advantages, the dispute over the appropriateness of this arrangement also has disadvantages.

Advantages:

  • an increase in the space of either a balcony or combined premises;
  • great opportunities for design and improvement;
  • the appearance of a comfortable window sill, which can also be used;
  • originality and uniqueness of the interior;
  • the windows get larger, so the amount of natural light also increases.

Disadvantages cannot be ignored:

  • this type of improvement requires strengthening the balcony slab, since the weight of the structure is significant;
  • it is necessary to obtain permission from the regulatory authorities, to coordinate the expansion;
  • if you entrust the work to non-professionals or make a mistake, irreparable may happen, and collapse, in turn, is a criminal offense;
  • serious financial investments - this type of work requires a considerable budget, you cannot save on craftsmen and materials.

Each region of the country has its own legal nuances. Before seriously thinking about taking out the balcony, you should get advice, find out all the restrictions and the number of documents for permission.

Overview of methods

If you made up your mind, received all the necessary permits and decided how much you need to take out the balcony, then you can proceed to the next step. This is the choice of a way to take out the balcony space. You can expand the balcony by removing the window sill, it is possible with orientation on the basis of the balcony slab. In the first situation, the floor dimensions remain unchanged, and the space increases due to the removal of the structure of the walls, window openings. The structure is extended only at the top.

The glazed frame can only be moved forward or to the right and / or left. The remote space is obtained equal to the width of the window sill. In this case, the increase in space does not increase too much, about 30 cm. This method is perfect for those who do not see the point in increasing the floor area. Its advantage is that you can place a comfortable window sill, hang shelves, and arrange plants. You won't be able to put anything extra on the floor.

You can use both warm and cold, semi-warm glazing.

The second method is more complicated, in which the room is transformed due to the removal of the floor. A huge plus - increase in area by 50 cm. Walls with window openings are flat, the area is larger.

Another interesting way of arranging a balcony with a take-out has an unusual name. "butterfly". In this case the construction of the balcony is fixed on the sides by the angular method. Glazing takes place on a triangular-shaped truss, it is fixed to the wall of the house and the balcony from the sides.

Do not forget that there are a number of situations in which it will not work to take out the balcony. Especially with self-assembly. This applies to the following points:

  • structures of large weight and serious height - a reason to refuse to carry out, especially if the weight exceeds 80 kg;
  • the age of the balcony, or rather, its condition - if the house is more than 20 years old, this type of improvement is a big question;
  • unfortunate location, if the apartment occupies the first floor, then everything that flies from above from the balconies will end up on your roof.

    If the third point can be considered relative, then the first two are mandatory for analysis. It is not only the question of desire that is at stake here, but also safety. The same can be attributed to the production technology, the quality of work, the competent conduct of all stages. The sequence of work on the removal of the balcony in any way includes:

    • installation of a remote-type frame on brackets resting on a slab - by welding or screwing with an anchor to concrete;
    • installation of a frame that combines a stem and a balcony slab;
    • exterior cladding of the structure;
    • glazing itself;
    • additions in the form of a plum, visor, decorative elements.

      It is impossible not to take into account the weight of the glazing itself; correlate it with the parameters of the slab. To perform all types of work, specialized equipment and special skills are required, therefore, only a person who is confident in his professionalism can perform them independently. Before deciding on such an arrangement with your own hands, you need to study the materials of a regulatory nature, familiarize yourself with safety precautions, work technologies.

      A lot depends on the quality of work and materials - not only the durability of the structure, but also the life, health of people on and under it.

      Frame construction materials

      These types of reconstructions include a very important stage - glazing. Its purpose is increasing the comfort of using the balcony space: heat and sound insulation tasks. You can take out the balcony with both warm, semi-warm, and cold glazing. The main advantage of a warm balcony is the possibility of combining it with an adjacent room, increasing the area. In addition, in terms of the level of heat conservation, sound insulation, such structures are most effective.

      The main disadvantages are the severity, complexity of installation, high financial costs. Such an installation involves strengthening thermal insulation, strengthening all parts of the structure. Plastic double-glazed windows weigh quite a lot - this significantly increases the load. This type of glazing is generally preferable for glazing loggias.

      Semi-insulated glazing is lighter, in addition, it allows you to use the balcony all year round. It will not work to connect such a balcony with a room.

      Cold mounting is the most suitable for remote balconies. This structure is made of lightweight, but durable metal, therefore, it is permissible for installation on any balcony. No additional load is created in this case. In addition, the work budget will be much more modest.

      Materials for window openings are different.

      • Wood. Suitable for any kind of landscaping. This material is often chosen by supporters of sustainable ways of arrangement. Wood is safe, retains heat well, the price of such windows is low. Among the minuses, one can note the fragility, without special treatment with antiseptics, the service life of such options is short.
      • Aluminum... Among the advantages: light weight, strength, reliability, long service life. Most often used for cold mounting balcony space.
      • PVC. Plastic frames are preferred for the renovation of insulated balconies. They perfectly protect against noise and frost. The price is quite affordable.

      In addition to the listed methods, arrangement without frames is quite common. Frameless glazing is a wall made of glass. This method opens up the view, allows more light to penetrate. visually expands the area.

      Features of exterior decoration

      Exterior finishing is a stage preceding glazing. One of the most common finishing methods is vinyl type siding. This material is considered one of the most practical, budgetary and modern. It weighs a little - which makes it even more preferable when finishing outrigger structures.

      Another popular type of finish is corrugated board... These are galvanized sheet metal sheets, which are decorated with polymer on one side. Among the advantages is durability - the service life of this material is quite long. But it is somewhat more expensive than plastic lining and siding of all kinds.

      If the budget is unlimited, you can use siding made of aluminum, steel, as well as aluminum composite type panels. The latter material actually consists of two sheets of aluminum, in the space between them is a layer of polymers.
