Kartopu means "snowball" in Turkish. This is the name of one of the best Turkish yarn companies. This word is best associated with tenderness, beauty, grace, joy and the desire to warm up in products from Kartopu yarn.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Kartopu company, founded in 1952, organizes production according to the traditional technologies of raw materials processing, which have been proven for decades. At the same time, high-quality equipment of the latest generation is installed at the ERSUR textile factory. The manufacturer develops new technologies in addition to classical yarns in accordance with the demands of modern fashion and the increasing demands of consumers.

Both natural and synthetic materials are used in the manufacture of yarns. Most often it contains acrylic, wool, viscose, polyamide, bamboo, mohair, cotton and other components.

The advantages of Kartopu yarn include:

  • budget price;
  • a diverse color palette: from pastel delicate to defiantly bright saturated colors;
  • when knitting, the threads easily slide along the knitting needles and the hook, lay down tightly and evenly, if necessary, freely unfold without losing their original appearance;
  • the ability to use certain types of yarn for crocheting and knitting;
  • most species have a mark of hypoallergenic composition;
  • finished products do not fade after washing, dry quickly, are durable;
  • it is in this yarn that the label has an anti-pillrng inscription, indicating that the thread is impregnated with a special solution that prevents the formation of pills.

The yarn also has some drawbacks, which, with a competent approach, can be made insignificant.

  • Electrification of certain types of yarn. It can be reduced if the product is not dried on a radiator, but by spreading it out on a towel with free access of air.
  • Acrylic threads are poorly permeable and give off moisture. You should pay special attention to this if you want to knit summer or children's things. In this case, it is better to choose yarn with cotton threads.
  • Finished products require special care. Gentle or hand wash at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees is desirable.

Assortment overview

The assortment of Kartopu yarns is large: a varied combination of materials allows you to satisfy the needs of even the most fastidious needlewomen.

  • Matryoshka ("Matryoshka") is one of the latest novelties. The yarn has sectional dyeing. It is soft, hypoallergenic. The combination of wool (15%) and acrylic (75%) looks very beautiful, visually creating an openwork warmth. And its Lincoln wool complements the yarn with softness and subtle shine. During knitting, it is pleasant tactilely, does not get confused, easily fits on the knitting needles.
  • Melange Wool is a kind of bulky yarn. It is used for knitting and crocheting. The thread has a medium twist, thanks to which the products are literally airy and very beautiful. 80% of the composition is polyamide, 20% is wool. Most often, needlewomen knit children's things and blankets from it.
  • Angora Natural is a fine and soft thread with few lint. The composition is mainly acrylic (80%) and 10% mohair and wool. Wool saturates the product with warmth, acrylic gives strength and does not allow shrinkage, and mohair creates a delicate fluffiness.
  • Alpaca polo - yarn, which is valued for its alpaca wool (20%). The structure of this coat is extraordinarily silky, soft and shiny. It also contains acrylic (60%) and wool (20%). It makes products ideal for the cold season.
  • Amigurumi - yarn is good for summer wardrobe products, since 49% of the composition is cotton, which will allow the product to pass air and moisture. The body will feel very comfortable in such a knitted thing. 51% of the composition is acrylic. With proper, careful care, knitted items will retain the relief of patterns for a long time.
  • Nubuk is a velor yarn used for knitting toys and doll wardrobe items. It consists of polyamide (78%) and acrylic (22%). Products made from it are comfortable and very delicate to the touch. This yarn is somewhat problematic when it is necessary to dissolve products.
  • Lana merino - 100% merino wool. Very soft yarn, visually reminiscent of plush. It is a pleasure to knit from it, the patterns are just perfect. It consists of 4 strands of medium twist. During knitting, they do not delaminate or cling. Due to its naturalness, the thread is not always uniform in thickness, but this does not spoil the product at all.
