3. Eliminate the impact on the material of any aggressive substances: acetone, acids, sulfur or mercury vapor;
4. Keep rubber jewelry away from tobacco smoke. The product absorbs smell and changes its color;
5. Use only dry cloths to clean the rubber.

If the item has hardened, several effective methods can help restore it to its original softness.

1. Put the rubber chain in a container with gasoline or kerosene, cover with a lid. When the product becomes elastic, rinse with warm water and wipe dry with a towel;
2. Soften the lace with a hairdryer at a temperature not exceeding 85 degrees. The whole procedure should last no more than 3-5 minutes with interruptions so that the rubber does not melt;
3. A similar procedure can be done with a steam generator;
4. The easiest way to soften the rubber chain is over steam (using tongs), periodically changing the position to achieve uniform heating.
