All about the first chakra Muladhara
Living in harmony with oneself and the world around us is the dream of many people who understand how important it is for physical and mental health. But this is not always easy to achieve, it takes a long and painstaking work on the path to excellence. But someday one has to take the first step on a difficult but right path. First you need to know everything about the first chakra Muladhara.
Description
The basic information about any chakra, when we first become familiar with it, begins with its description, meaning and location. The first chakra Muladhara is the lower part of the spine, where the tailbone is located. But there are some nuances, which consist in the fact that in men the chakra is located in the region of the perineum, in women - in the region of the ovaries. The translation of this word from Sanskrit means "root" (or "base"), therefore another name for the chakra is root.
Each chakra has its own color, symbol, stones, characteristic only for it. Muladhara is red. The symbol is a circle with 4 petals inside, each with its own letter. The core is a square in which 8 rays are placed, which symbolizes the Earth, implying a solid foundation. This is considered a growth point in terms of spirituality.
The four petals represent the desires of a person and have their own names: kama, artha, dharma, moksha. If the desires are balanced, the person is happy. Otherwise, problems begin.
Let's take a closer look at 4 petals.
- Kama Is the expression of desires at the physical level. This includes hunger, sex, sleep. Meeting these needs in full creates a positive attitude. But these are the most primitive desires, in this there is a resemblance to the animal world.For a developed and full-fledged person to be happy, this is not enough.
- Artha includes desires of a higher level. The financial component comes out on top. A person needs enough funds to fulfill his various desires: to enjoy life, enjoy good food, travel, interesting meetings. He becomes happier from this, but still it cannot be said that this is the highest degree of happiness. All these components relate to physical and psycho-emotional states.
- Dharma - this is a higher level. The inner world of a person, the search for truth, the meaning of life is important here. More often there is a desire to enjoy beautiful things: the beauty of the surrounding world, works of art, music. A person can develop himself creatively, and he already experiences happiness completely from other things. In this state, a person often turns to God, plunges into a spiritual search. But more often than not, this path requires a mentor and guide.
- Moksha is the highest level when a state of complete harmony and tranquility comes to a person. For him, physical needs are absolutely not important, financial well-being also does not bring happiness, since this is not the highest goal of a person. The main thing is spiritual development and freedom.
What is it responsible for and what functions does it perform?
This chakra is designed to ensure the safe existence of the physical body, to help it survive in any conditions. In the outside world, a variety of situations occur, including unpleasant ones, as in the life of every person. She is rich not only in joyful events and successes, but also in misfortunes and upheavals. This chakra is a kind of balancing in the space that surrounds us. Muladhara is not able to protect a person from troubles and problems, but she is able to help look at the surrounding reality with different eyes. Spiritual cleansing helps in this.
Each of the chakras is responsible for specific senses.... Muladhara is the sense of smell. To take a simpler example, its work looks like this. A small child reacts to smell, and if he likes it, he decides to taste the food. In adulthood, chakra's work is more multifaceted.
Provided that this chakra is well developed, a person feels bad and good situations, he has a sense of whether to contact this or that person, to perform this or that act.
Effect on the physical body
As far as this chakra is in order, the person also feels well emotionally and physiologically. The chakra's area of responsibility is bones, nails, hair - in a word, hard tissues. Accordingly, the following picture is observed:
- if a person lives in harmony with himself and the world around him, he physically feels great, his body works normally, his health does not fail - he accepts himself as he is;
- if a person is tormented by contradictions, constantly plagued by doubts, his health is not normal, he is often sick, disgusted with himself - all this leads to chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system and even disruption of the gastrointestinal tract.
In women and men, the influence of the chakra, if it does not work correctly, is detected in different ways. Men show uncontrolled aggression, and women develop various diseases associated with the legs.
Provided that the chakra is working properly, a person treats his body adequately, he takes care of it, takes care of himself. Health is normal.
Possible states
The first chakra for everyone has its own development, in connection with this, the states can be very different for everyone. Throughout life, development occurs or, on the contrary, a complete decline, it depends on working on oneself.Those who constantly meditate and improve their spiritual growth, come to such harmonization that they feel all the emotions of people almost at the level of smells.
But when a person is engaged only in spiritual practices, he becomes detached from the outside world, he has no desire to communicate with other people. And it’s good if this does not develop further, when the state has already come in which communication with someone else will cause very strong discomfort. So the goal is to reach exactly the golden mean, since both extremes are unattractive in their own way.
Harmony
This state gives a person great health. He feels healthy and happy, nothing can disturb his mental balance. The owner of a well and correctly working 1 chakra does not feel fear of the future. He knows that under any circumstances he will have everything he needs to exist normally.
Such a person gratefully accepts everything that surrounds him, enjoys every new day, an interesting meeting, positive emotions do not violate either mental or physical health. From the outside it seems that this is a person who is in the clouds, but in fact this is complete harmony and a feeling of happiness.
Imbalance
But the downside is a malfunctioning Muladhara. When it is closed, its owner becomes extremely unbalanced, he becomes obsessed with his troubles and problems. And the more he gets angry and nervous, the more the situation worsens. Ultimately, all this can end up with severe mental disorders, serious illnesses that will have to be treated for more than one year.
Another variant of the development of the situation in case of improper chakra work is a tendency to hoarding. In this case, only money is of interest, and they do not bring pleasure, there are always few of them, from this a person wakes up hypertrophied greed. And the extreme degree of closed non-working Muladhara is when a person experiences constant irritation, aggression and hatred towards everything around him.
In this state, it is possible to commit extremely rash acts that will lead to dire consequences. It can even be violence and murder.
Signs and reasons for blocking
Signs of blockage can always be detected independently, as well as the reasons. At the physical level, they can manifest themselves in the form of a wide variety of ailments:
- swelling in the legs, varicose veins, a constant feeling of heaviness and discomfort;
- digestive problems, expressed in obesity or, conversely, in excessive thinness;
- problems with joints and bones, expressed in pain in the spine, neck;
- problems with the genitourinary system, kidneys.
As for the emotional state, the signs of blockage will be as follows:
- constant feeling of tiredness;
- a state of depression;
- Bad mood;
- unfounded fear and anxious feeling;
- the emergence of various addictions: alcohol, tobacco;
- aggression, anger;
- dissatisfaction with their actions;
- a constant feeling of a failed life;
- a desire to blame others, circumstances for everything.
The list can be continued endlessly, but the general principle of this state is clear: everything falls out of hand, nothing pleases, others only cause irritation. Those whose chakra works extremely poorly are focused only on everyday needs: to eat, sleep, go to work, have sex as a way of getting at least some kind of pleasure. This is the basic primitive level.
The reasons why the work of Muladhara has stopped can be different. This could happen even in childhood, if the parents constantly swore in front of the children, the relationship was always tense, and fear and aggression reigned in the house, not peace and harmony. This could have happened in the process of his family life, when something went wrong in the marriage, there was a lack of mutual understanding, conflicts began, and the worst thing was betrayal.
In addition, condemnation of other people, constant conversations with negative connotations, the desire to find as many shortcomings and problems in others as possible, affect the state of the root chakra very negatively.
How to open and develop?
It also happens that this chakra has always been closed, and suddenly the understanding came that activation of this department is necessary. Opening is always possible, and then you need to work out the chakra. Various exercises, affirmations, meditations will help to restore its work. First you need to honestly talk to yourself in order to understand in which direction to move, and how exactly to unblock the chakra. Questions might be:
- how good you look and are you satisfied with your appearance;
- what can you say about your health in general;
- how things are in the family;
- whether there is a feeling of anxiety, and at what moments;
- how much money means to you.
Meditations
A very effective method to open the first chakra is meditation. You can meditate in the morning and in the evening, indoors and outdoors (in the forest, on the seashore, river, lake, in the yard of your own house). The main thing is that nothing distracts, there is silence and the opportunity to concentrate only on your feelings.
Mandala can also help in this. The technique is very simple. You just need to consider the mandala, moving from the edge to the central part. In this case, it is a lotus of 4 red petals with a yellow center. The sequence of actions will be as follows:
- you need to print the image of the mandala and place it directly in front of you;
- turn on pleasant calm music;
- sit up straight, straighten your back, the posture should be comfortable;
- then you need to focus on inhaling and exhaling, you should breathe slowly and calmly;
- at the same time, you need to look at the mandala, but not with a focused gaze;
- at the same time, you need to imagine how you fill your chakra with the light emanating from the mandala, how it is filled with warmth and love.
This meditation should be carried out daily, starting from 5 minutes and bringing with time to 15. In the activation of the chakra, the mudra, intended specifically for Muladhara, can also help. To do this, press your thumbs to your palms, covering them with the rest of your fingers. This provision is referred to as "ant behavior". It is not necessary to use the most difficult meditations, the main thing is to plunge into it totally and believe in success.
You can just stand barefoot on the grass and, with your eyes closed, imagine how all the negative energy, as it were, flows from you and goes deep into the ground, while purifying your body and mind.
Yoga
For body and mind to function harmoniously, it is helpful to turn to yoga. There are asanas, thanks to which you can open Muladhara. These include, for example, Warrior 1 Pose, Eagle Pose, Garland Pose.
You need to perform asanas regularly. And it is better not to consider individual poses, but to practice yoga, using all asanas, this will help bring the body and mind in order and open absolutely all the chakras. There is no point in looking at poses and doing them yourself. At the initial stage, you need an instructor who will see how correctly the asanas are performed. This is important, because if you experience discomfort or even pain, you can harm your health. Later you can move on to independent exercises.
Listening to mantras
The main mantra for the root chakra is "Lam". You need to chant it, pull the sounds and feel how they pass through the whole body. This is done in conjunction with breathing exercises and meditation. This should be done regularly. To understand how to do everything correctly, and how a mantra should sound, you can listen to mantras or do it with a mentor or in a group of like-minded people.
Other options
You can use any methods that are considered convenient for you. You can devote just an hour a day, but this will be your hour when you will cast aside all negativity and focus on yourself. It is good if you combine meditation, yoga and chanting.At first, even a simple exercise is enough, when yantra (the symbol of the first chakra) is present in front of you, you can even draw it yourself. First you need to look at the yellow center, then focus on the red triangle that is inside the yellow square.
Another very simple and effective way to open or restore the root chakra is through affirmations. They are convenient in that you can pronounce them at any time, both mentally and aloud. The main thing is to believe in what you are saying. These can be the following affirmations:
- I am in a state of love and peace;
- I am always and everywhere protected by the Higher powers;
- I feel the help and protection of the Universe;
- I am discovering new facets of the Universe;
- I am open to love and happiness;
- I accept myself for who I am;
- I take care of myself, I like to take care of myself.
Helpful hints
You can normalize the work of the chakra, open it and cleanse it in the usual household ways, doing your daily activities, the main thing is to do it with pleasure, focusing on pleasant thoughts. It can be just a walk along the seashore or river, a trip in the woods or a hike in the mountains. More often you need to be in nature. The sound of the surf, the smell of the forest, the rays of the sunset - all this contributes to pacification, a sense of harmony and endless happiness.
If it is not possible to take long walks, you can simply walk barefoot on the grass, sand, pebbles, listen to birds singing in the morning, and the chirping of cicadas in the evening. Even ordinary gardening works to open the first chakra. You can take care of trees and flowers and at the same time focus on the positive energy that gives strength, this is the pure strength of the earth.
To feel the energy of the first chakra, you can often wear red things, use red stones as jewelry, eat red vegetables and fruits.
