Ada Bojana is a picturesque island in Montenegro and a beach of the same name, a kind of nudist Mecca of Europe, where about a thousand tourists can rest at the same time.

Description of the island

The island of Ada Boyana is located in the south of Montenegro, at the mouth of the picturesque Boyana river. The triangular-shaped island was formed by artificial means. In 1858, on this place, the sailing ship Merito was thrown onto a small sandbank by a storm, river waters brought silt and sand here for a long time, and over time an artificial island of impressive size was formed, which is washed on two sides by the river, and on the third by the Adriatic Sea.

Translated from Turkish, ada is an island, and the second part is the name of the river that washes it. The area of the island is 4.8 square kilometers... It is famous for its beautiful nature and a spacious beach with amazing healing sand. It is here that the famous Montenegrin beach for nudists is located. There will definitely be a place here for vacationers who do not like to be completely naked in public.

The island is located in the southeast of Montenegro, 25 km from the city of Ulcinj, near the state border with Albania. You cannot find historical sights here, you need to go to the mainland for them.

People come to the island to enjoy almost untouched nature, warm sea waters, water sports and fishing.

Climate

Ada Bojana is a natural protected area with mild climatic conditions typical for most of the Adriatic. The swimming season for tourists starts from mid-May. By the beginning of July, the sea heats up to + 24 ° C.

The maximum temperature of water and air is observed on the island in August. At the same time, a light breeze emanating from the Adriatic Sea makes staying on the beach pleasant even in hot weather. The mild climatic conditions on Ada Bojana are perfect for the growth of various plants. On the insular part of the country, you can enjoy a variety of rare species of shrubs and trees.

Beach

You can swim, sunbathe on the beach and walk around the territory here absolutely without clothes, and local vacationers are happy about this. The beach is 3 kilometers long and its width varies from 50 to 150 meters. The beach is famous for its soft, fine sand without the presence of pebbles.

In 1973, a nudist village was built on the island. This event helped the island become famous far beyond Montenegro. Lovers of exotic holidays are always welcome on the island. The flora and fauna around the beach is very diverse, which pleases the eye of tourists who prefer to soak up the sun amidst untouched nature.

The beach is pretty well maintained and kept clean. Only occasionally are there pebble zones in which the sea is deeper. An atmosphere of complete unity with nature reigns on the beach. In some places the beach is covered with small corals and shells. The sand of the local beach is enriched with minerals.
