Picturesque landscape views, warm sea, varied cuisine and measured rhythm of life ... All these benefits can be provided by Becici - a small resort town located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Montenegro.

Description

Becici is a village in Montenegro that is renowned for its sandy beaches. A little less than a thousand people live in the village, but despite this it is always full of travelers, and every year more and more new hotels appear there. It is a calm and picturesque resort that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Climate

Becici's climate can be attributed to the Mediterranean type. Here winters are mild and short, while summers are hot and long. In summer, the average temperature reaches + 27 ° С, in winter, the thermometer drops to + 8-9 ° С. If you have a desire to spend the winter in a Montenegrin village, remember that the rainy season begins in November, so you need to take an umbrella with you. The best time to relax is summer. Precipitation at this time is a very rare occurrence, and by mid-June the water in the sea reaches the optimum temperature for swimming. But keep in mind that the largest influx of tourists will be in the summer months.

Until October, the velvet season is maintained at the resort, and in November you can tie up with swimming. In winter Becici becomes empty as it becomes damp and strong winds appear. If you want some privacy, then you might like this place in winter.

In the spring, the town comes alive again. Already in April, you can go here, because the precipitation stops, the trees begin to bloom, and the sun accompanies the walks. There are few tourists at this time.Starting in May, the temperature turns to summer, but swimming is still worth refraining from. If you cannot decide what time to come to this corner of Montenegro, then here is the average temperature by months:

  • January - + 6.2 ° С;
  • February - + 6.8 ° С;
  • March - + 10 ° С;
  • April - + 13.2 ° С;
  • May - + 21.5 ° С;
  • June - + 25.5 ° С;
  • July - + 28.5 ° С;
  • August - + 30.7 ° С;
  • September - + 25.8 ° С;
  • October - + 16 ° С;
  • November - + 10.8 ° С;
  • December - + 7.5 ° С.

What to see?

There are few attractions in Becici and all of them can be found on the map, but at the same time it will not leave anyone indifferent. Of course, the most important attraction is the beach with the promenade. It is large - more than 2 kilometers long, and when compared with neighboring Budva, it is also much better in quality. Most of the sandy beaches have everything you need to relax: sun loungers and umbrellas, showers and changing cabins, cafes. On the beaches that are classified as hotels, there are also water activities, but more on that later.

The water park at the Mediteran Hotel, with its many slides and a wide variety of pools, will definitely please both children and adults. And it is not at all necessary to be guests of this hotel, you can just pay for the entrance.

One of the interesting features of Becici is the pedestrian tunnels that run through the rocks. They can take you to Budva and Kamenevo (don't worry, this is not the only way to get there - you can use the trails). In summer, tired of the heat, just walk through the tunnels. Cool crossings are equipped for walking, while there you can find panels and get a closer look at the history of Montenegro.

The small Orthodox Church of St. Thomas will also appeal to those looking for a place of solitude. This small and cozy place is located in a very picturesque place - on a mountain, surrounded by a rose garden. If you decide to leave the vicinity of Becici for a short while, then go to Budva. It is worth visiting the old fortress and the museum that it houses. The most budgetary leisure option is walking around the city. If you go up the hill a little, then you can contemplate a stunning view. The tiled roofs of the houses, the sea and a lot of greenery can inspire you for any accomplishments.

Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate Becici. Not far from the settlement there are many lakes where a wide variety of fish is found (there are also fishing shops in the vicinity, and you can easily rent a boat at the pier). Travel agencies also organize group fishing trips, where the guide shares all the details and tricks that may be useful in the process of fishing. If you are a shopper, then this picturesque region may disappoint you a little. There are no shopping malls or boutiques here. But you should not deny yourself a visit to the local market and tiny shops. Honey, local wine, olive oil and many other quality products can be brought home as a souvenir. Seafood can be bought literally at every turn.

Now let's go through the list of excursions that you can visit while in Becici.

  • Excursion "Canyons" is the most popular in all of Montenegro. You can see Lake Skadar, which is the largest in Europe, visit the mountains and canyon of the Tara River, walk in the Durmitor National Park.
  • "Heart of Montenegro" will lead you to Cetinje, which has its own ancient history. A trip on a yacht, a platform with a panoramic view of the Boko-Kotor Bay awaits you. Local shops sell delicious homemade cheese and other edible souvenirs.
  • Excursion "Grand Canyons" will lead you to the north of Montenegro. The bus travels next to the canyon of the Moraca River, then goes to the observation deck to the mountains. The next canyon is the Tara River, followed by the Djurdjevic Bridge - one of the main attractions of Montenegro. After lunch, Durmitor National Park will greet you. If you have a desire, then you can swim in the sea (if the season allows). The excursion ends with the Piva River, Piva Lake and the Piva Orthodox Monastery.
  • Excursion to Skandarskoe lake will allow you to get a little better acquainted with the fauna of this country, since the lake is located in a national park. There are a lot of fish in it, if you have a license, you can go fishing. In its absence, you can simply swim.
  • If all of the above seems to you too calm and measured, then Jeep Safari should delight you. The most interesting sightseeing tour will allow you to visit those places where the bus simply will not pass. Biogradska Gora National Park is the oldest in Montenegro, and an experienced guide will tell you many interesting facts from its history.

What to try?

Despite the popularity of fishing in these parts, restaurants still have a lot of meat positions, because locals prefer them (it should be noted that seafood is more expensive here than meat). Both visitors and indigenous people include chopped chevapchichi sausages (they are prepared and served with fresh vegetables or potatoes at your discretion), Negush prosciutto, stewed lamb, thick chorbu soup (it is prepared with meat, fish and even crayfish) for compulsory tasting. Do not forget about the specialties based on dairy products - steam and tsitsvara.

How to get there:

Citizens of the Russian Federation can stay on the territory of the state for up to 30 days without a visa, but it is necessary to register at the place of stay within the first 24 hours after arrival. You go to the post office in Budva and pay the tourist tax, which is 1 EUR for each day of your stay in the country (per person). Then you go to the tourist office in Old Budva and register there. After all the manipulations, you still have a receipt confirming the payment of the duty; at the exit, the border guard may ask for it (if it turns out that you are an unregistered traveler, you will need to pay a fine - 60 EUR).

There are two airports in Montenegro: one in the capital Podgorica, the other in Tivat. The latter is closest to Becici, so it is better to take a ticket from Russia there. Airplanes fly every day, there is a direct flight from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The arrival airport is located 25 kilometers from the village and 21 kilometers from Budva, but there is no public transport along this route. Tourists turn to taxi drivers, who will take them to their destination for 30-35 EUR. If you arrived without a suitcase and are not averse to saving money, then you need to take a taxi to the Tivat bus station (cost about 5 EUR), then change to a bus and go to the Budva bus station (ticket 2.5 EUR). Here you can either take a taxi (5 EUR), or take another bus (1.5 EUR) and so get to Becici.

A flight by plane to Montenegro is the best option. If you want to travel by train, then you must understand that the journey takes several days, and you must obtain visas for those countries through which you will pass. There are no buses from Russia. There is an option to go by your own car, but this is also very time consuming and also requires obtaining a visa for the countries being crossed.
