Montenegro in February: what is the weather and where is the best place to go?
Every working person wants to take a break from routine work in the summer, soak up the beach and see the world. But it often happens that a vacation falls in the winter, and in this case, one literally gives up due to ruined plans. But don't despair because in February you can relax no worse than in summer. We propose to consider several options for cultural recreation for tourists in winter in Montenegro.
Weather
Before going anywhere in February, it is advisable to find out the temperature of the area during this period. I would like to note right away that in different parts of Montenegro, these indicators vary greatly. On the southern coast, the temperature can reach +12, which will only contribute to a comfortable pastime, in such weather it would be wise to go on an excursion - the abundance of historical sites will not let you get bored.
If you are a fan of snowy terrain, the northern part of the country will be the best choice, where temperatures vary from +5 to -7 degrees Celsius. Here you can spend an active holiday, namely, skiing.
If you are used to cold weather, you can risk swimming in the sea, the water temperature reaches +12 degrees, which is not so cold.
Where to go?
If you decide to go to Montenegro, another equally important question arises, which city is the best to go to. Here the question is purely personal, it all depends on your own preferences. We propose to briefly consider three cities most suitable to visit in winter: Kotor, Tivat and Budva.
Kotor
In addition to the ski resort, the city offers an abundance of other entertainment options in February. Of all, it is worth highlighting the most popular carnival and mimosa festival... It should be noted that this event is one of the most demanded events in the country. Every year, several thousand people are present at the festival, the city is filled with foreigners who come to admire such a wonderful event.
The holiday involves an annual masquerade ball, fascinating parades and concerts. In addition, gourmets and simply food lovers will be pleasantly surprised by the unusual dishes of local cuisine, which are also actively offered at this event.
The festival marks the imminent arrival of spring. On the streets of the city, you can see costume parades, while all participants will have mimosa twigs in their hands. The abundance of flowers, costumes and just an extravaganza of colors will certainly delight and leave a pleasant impression for a long time.
But that's not all. The city is replete with other cultural components. The tourist will be able to attend various musical concerts, attend theater performances and masquerades, as well as visit local exhibitions.
Kotor in February celebrates a holiday dedicated to St. Tryphon, who is the patron saint of this city. During this period, tourists can enjoy the skill of church choirs or the folklore of national groups. Due to the fact that a more devout Catholic population lives in the city, the holiday is very honored, in this regard, a festive mass is held. The Christian Church treats the remains of the hero of the occasion with reverence because of the legends about the miracles of Tryphon.
It should be added that the event takes place on February 14, so you can combine Valentine's Day with the local celebration of St. Tryphon's Day. The sailors of the Montenegrin fleet also take part in the holiday.
Tivat
It is a city by the sea, and in summer it is a seaside resort. Since the weather in February is not conducive to leisure on local beaches, you can visit local museums or cultural sites, since there are enough of them. You will most likely not be able to find out the history of all man-made historical buildings - there are too many of them. Each of the ancient places has its own interesting history and design, some have their own legend that leaves a pleasant sadness in the heart.
February is not only a time of cultural recreation, this time of the year is downright created for shopping. The prices of the goods are being reduced, so you will be guaranteed to purchase a valuable piece of memory or a useful item on sale. Thus, you can not only culturally relax with your family, but also buy imported gizmos. The winter month in this city is famous for the Bokel night, where all tourists are invited, without exception. The holiday is famous for the abundance of a rich and varied program, built in accordance with the well-established traditions of the local population.
Budva
The city is perfect for those who want to save money on vacation or those who have limited finances. This is due to a decrease in prices for air travel, rental of living space, as well as other services necessary for life. In this case, you should pay attention to the ski resort. The reduced cost of services and the presence of nearby mountains for skiing will make the vacation not only rich in positive emotions, but also relatively cheap.
The cultural program, as in the previously listed cities, is also replete with its diversity, therefore you can dilute your vacation by visiting various museums and exhibitions or historical sites, which are enough in this city.
Particular attention should be paid to wine tasting. During this period, you can taste the best strong drinks at ridiculous prices, snacking on them with homemade products, such as cheese or seafood. It is worth noting that in February the cost of almost everything drops by 2 times, which makes it possible to live in grand style.
Holidays in February cause only negative emotions for the majority. It's clear that you want to soak up the hot sand, listen to the cry of sea gulls and plunge into the warm sea. However, if everything did not go according to plan, you should not give up and spend a well-deserved rest with a sour mine at home. The Montenegrin February resort welcomes tourists even at this seemingly inhospitable time. Of course, you won't get warm on the beach, but you can visit a ski resort, go shopping or see one of the national holidays. Montenegro welcomes guests at any time of the year.
