All About Chihuahua Type Deer
Chihuahua is a breed of small cute dogs that has several varieties. The most popular of them are fluffy cobbies and short-haired deers. Babies of the second type are similar to deer, they were named so - deer, which in English means “deer”. In Russia, there are not many of these babies, since larger long-haired cobbies are popular here, but the inhabitants of the North American continent liked the fragile grace of the Deer.
History of the breed
There are several versions about the origin of the Chihuahua breed. One of them leads into the jungle on the territory of Mexico, where even before the discovery of America there were dogs of Techichi. They were long-haired and larger than today's Chihuahuas. Since the 9th century AD, the territory of modern Mexico was inhabited by the Toltec people, who tamed the Techichi.
At first, dogs were used as food, then as helpers during the hunt. They found the burial place of the owners together with the dogs. In the 12th century, the Aztecs ousted the Toltecs from their lands, they adopted the customs of the exiled people and continued to use dogs for hunting and as ritual burials.
By the middle of the 16th century, the Aztec civilization was destroyed by the conquistadors, and domestic animals were brutally destroyed. Only part of the dogs managed to survive, which fled into the jungle and eventually became feral. Much later, the Mexicans tamed forest animals again. In the middle of the 19th century, Americans became interested in cute small dogs and began to buy puppies from local residents.
There is also a second, European version of the origin of the breed of small dogs. Breeders have found that Chihuahuas are born with an uncooled fontanel, just like lapdogs on the Mediterranean island of Malta near Italy. As proof, the supporters of this theory cited a painting in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, where the Italian artist Botticelli depicted a boy with a dog, very reminiscent of a modern Chihuahua.
The painting was done in 1481, before the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. The end of the dispute in this matter was put by geneticists, who confirmed the relationship of the Techichi with the modern species of miniature dogs.
In 1923 in the United States was created first National Chihuahua Club, at the same time, an official dog standard was drawn up, which only referred to the smooth-haired species. In 1954, the British Chihuahua Club developed a second standard (with two varieties) of this animal.
The official appearance in Russia of the Chihuahua is considered 1959, when Fidel Castro presented Nikita Khrushchev with a pair of dogs of this breed.
Description Chihuahua type deer
The fawn-dog is so light and graceful that while running it gives the impression of hovering above the ground, as if its paws were not touching it. According to the breed standard, the size of the animal should not exceed 23 centimeters at the withers. The babies weigh from half a kilogram to three kg. Chihuahua looks like this.
- A small head with an elongated muzzle and large, high-set ears is associated with some with a fawn, with others with a bat.
- The eyes are not large, but protruding, so they seem expressive.
- The nose follows the dominant color, although it may be black.
- The neck is longer when compared to the cobby.
- The body of the Chihuahua Deer is small, rectangular, with a light skeletal system. The lack of visible musculature emphasizes the fragility of the breed.
- The ribcage is narrow, looks harmonious on a small body.
- An even, straight back passes into a slightly lowered croup.
- A toned belly completes the slim figure.
- On long thin limbs, muscle mass is completely unclear. Therefore, the dog's gait seems to be shallow, fussy.
- The tail is thin, quite standard, but when compared to the cobby it is long.
- The short coat is close to the body.
Even before the middle of the last century, the dir type Chihuahua was very popular.
According to the standard, adult dogs should not have the lightness and grace that is often found in modern breeds. Today's deer is on the verge of a standard.
Character
The psyche of Chihuahua Deer dogs is not stable enough, this becomes clear a year after birth. Animals can exhibit irascibility, irritability. In this regard, the cobbies are more agreeable and calm.
Mood swings are perhaps the only flaw in the character of these babies. Their commendable quality is the courage with which they rush to the abuser of the owner. Despite the apparent fragility, Chihuahuas are quite hardy and strong. They become attached to the owner, can get along with all family members and pets, but are wary of strangers. Dogs are mobile, playful, inquisitive and smart enough.
Care
Chihuahua deer is not created for the street, such a dog can live only at home. But she needs to be taken out for a walk, as is done with all dogs. You shouldn't do this in winter. During the off-season temperature drop, the pet is put on special clothing.
If the room is cool, clothes are purchased for the home.
Despite the fact that the dog is smooth-haired, it needs to be combed out several times a week. The pet is rarely bathed. The nails are cut twice a month. Ears and eyes should be checked regularly to avoid overlooking inflammation. The dog is given treats designed to clean the teeth from food plaque, for the same purpose it chews on toys.
The pet's diet may contain special industrial foods intended for small dogs. But often the owners feed them with natural products: meat, boiled fish without bones, cereals. Vegetables are added to the dishes by one third, mixing them with meat and porridge.
Despite the fact that breeders in Russia prefer to breed a Chihuahua Cobby, if desired, you can find a deer with documents. The cost of puppies ranges from 20 to 35 thousand rubles.
