Easter is the most important and brightest holiday for believers of all denominations. One of the traditional ritual symbols of this holiday, in addition to Easter cakes, is colored eggs. Since ancient times, the red egg personifies the beginning of a new life, the resurrection of the Lord. Red is a symbol of the blood of Christ and his royal dignity, and it also gives hope for eternal life... Currently, eggs are painted not only red, but also painted, multi-colored, marbled, using a variety of techniques and methods. In the article, we will consider both traditional methods of making marble eggs, as well as the most creative and original ones.

Use of tissues and food coloring

Eggs with a marbled effect of coloring the shell look very unusual. To do this, use ordinary paper napkins and colored food dyes. This dyeing method is easy and affordable, you just need to prepare a few small containers for breeding dyes, boil the eggs in advance and engage in a fascinating creative process.

  • Prepare some small containers and pour the food paint into them. Dilute with hot water at the rate of 2 tbsp. spoons on each container, also add 1 teaspoon of vinegar there and mix well until the dyes are completely dissolved.
  • Rinse the eggs carefully and boil them in advance. Let them cool completely.
  • Take regular paper napkins and wrap each egg in one layer with them, Avoiding strong folds, tie the ends of the napkins with threads.
  • You can use cotton swabs for coloring. Wet them in prepared dyes of different colors and apply in any order: spots, overlapping, as your fantasy tells you. Paint over the entire shell, creating a speckled pattern. Paint over the areas carefully, being careful not to tear the napkin... Choose matching colors or add vibrant, multicolored colors. Let the food sit and paint over well for half an hour.
  • Carefully remove the napkins, trying not to touch the surface of the egg with wet hands. If desired, you can grease the shell with shine oil. We put for a beautiful dish.

The eggs are very beautiful: colorful and original. And the coloring method itself is very simple and fun, you can attract children and together create a cozy creative pre-holiday atmosphere.

Each egg will turn out to be unique and unlike the others!

How to paint with onion peel?

Our ancestors used onion peel for dyeing eggs for a long time, because it is the most natural and affordable dye. The husk begins to be collected in advance, because for coloring it takes quite a lot to get a bright red saturated color. For this method we need:

  • onion peel;
  • eggs;
  • salt;
  • water.

Tip: take an old waste pot that you won't mind getting dirty. The dishes are heavily stained with onion peels, it will be difficult to wash them.

Eggs must be removed from the refrigerator in advance to bring them to room temperature. This way they will not burst during cooking. The onion solution must be made in advance: put in a saucepan, add water and boil, leave to infuse overnight. The solution will turn dark, very saturated.

Before cooking, add 1 tbsp. l. salt and very carefully immerse the eggs one by one, placing them among the onion skins. The salt will prevent the shells from cracking during cooking.

Boil eggs until tender and acquire a beautiful rich color. Then we take them out and immerse them in cold water. The color can be from red to dark cherry color, depending on the amount of husk and the time of infusion.

You can connect your imagination and cook eggs as follows: find beautiful leaves, moisten them in water and attach tightly to the shell. Wrap with gauze and secure with threads at both ends. You can simply wrap the egg with threads, creating a pattern on the shell, or boil in the same way in a solution of onion peel. The result is beautiful appliqués and line drawing.

With brilliant green

This method of coloring is also very effective, reminiscent of marble, just as affordable and simple, because there is brilliant green in every first-aid kit. The eggs are obtained in malachite brown tones, with imitation of natural stones. So, we need:

  • a bottle of brilliant green;
  • onion peel;
  • salt;
  • toothpicks;
  • notebook paper;
  • gauze;
  • threads.

Finely chop dry husks and paper. Roll the moistened eggs with the resulting paper and onion slices. Prepare pieces of gauze in advance. Wrap each egg in cheesecloth and wrap with threads. Place in a saucepan and cover completely with water. For one dozen, you need to take 10 ml of brilliant green and pour it into water. Place a toothpick in the pot to prevent the shell from cracking.

You need to cook for 15 minutes, then let cool directly in cheesecloth. Next, carefully free the food from the wrapper; you can grease them with vegetable oil for shine.

It is possible to achieve the effect of marbled coloring of an egg using only paper and onion wrapper, but without brilliant green. You will also get a nice and attractive effect.

With rice

For this method, we need onion infusion for boiling eggs, prepared in the evening, rice and old tights or socks for wrapping.

Here's what to do:

  1. moisten eggs in water, roll in rice cereal so that it adheres well to the shell;
  2. carefully wrap the prepared material so that the rice fits snugly against the shell, wrap it with threads;
  3. boil eggs in 15 minutes;
  4. let cool directly in the wrappers and only then carefully remove them.

You will have a nice and fine-grained fractional pattern on the shell.

Painting with oil

This option for coloring Easter eggs is also unusual and creative. For it, we need food colors, vegetable oil, citric acid, and as a result, we get marble-like dyes with a fancy pattern on the shell.

The step-by-step recipe is as follows.

  • First you need to boil the eggs, adding 1 tbsp to the water. l. citric acid. Thanks to this life hack, the original drawing will appear on the shell when painting. Dilute food colors: orange, green, blue, red, yellow in separate small containers with hot water. Add 1 tbsp each to light colors. l. vinegar.
  • We paint over all the eggs first in these containers and let them dry on a napkin. Next, add 1 tbsp each to dark solutions (blue and green). l. vegetable oil.
  • Take a spoon and dip each light egg, first in blue and then in green. We do this dive several times. Chaotic beautiful sketches with stains due to the oily substance of the solution will appear on the shell.
  • Put the painted eggs on a napkin again to dry. Lubricate with shine oil if desired.

other methods

Currently, there are a huge number of very different unusual ways to dye Easter eggs. Let's try to talk about all the well-known new ideas that modern housewives use at home, so that the result pleases you, and the festive table looks dignified and elegant.

With potassium permanganate

With this dyeing method, eggs are obtained with a bright pink color. Let's get down to the process itself.

  1. First, dissolve a small amount of potassium permanganate (on the tip of a knife) in 30 ml of cold boiled water. Stir until the crystals are completely dissolved.
  2. Dye 5-10 eggs for an even color.
  3. Take a saucepan, fold the eggs and cover with water, and when it boils, add 1 tbsp. l. salt and the same amount of vinegar. Pour in the potassium permanganate solution.
  4. Work in rubber gloves, watch your hands, otherwise it will be difficult to wash them: potassium permanganate can greatly stain the skin.
  5. Continue cooking for 10 minutes. It is important that the solution is very dark, almost black, add more diluted manganese if necessary. Remove from water with a spoon, cool.

With iodine

With this method, the shell acquires only a slight shade of brown or beige. Later, you can decorate such eggs with all kinds of glue-based stickers or thermal stickers. Color a small number of eggs this way for variety. And they can be marbled using paper or napkins, as in the methods described earlier.

Take a saucepan, fold the eggs and cover with water. When the water boils, add vinegar, salt and half a bottle of iodine. Cook for 10-15 minutes. Remove and dry, decorate to your liking.

With hibiscus

If you want to get blue eggs without the use of dyes and any chemicals, use hibiscus tea:

  • wash the white eggs well with the addition of baking sodato make the coloring even. Cook with salt for 10 minutes. Further 4 tbsp. l. Pour boiling water over the hibiscus and let it brew for 15 minutes, the solution can not be filtered.
  • Dip each egg in hibiscus tea solution up to 10 times, until they acquire a bright rich color: from blue or blue to bright purple;

To make a marble pattern on such eggs, you can stick hibiscus petals to them and wrap them with cling film for a couple of minutes.

  • Let dry well and wipe with a cloth soaked in oil.

With blueberries

Another natural method of painting with blueberries has proven itself quite well. The shell color also turns out to be blue, quite saturated. Let's consider how to properly carry out such a coloring.

  1. Take white eggs, boil them in advance with the addition of salt. Cool it down.
  2. Take 2.5 cups frozen blueberries and place them in a deep bowl lined with cheesecloth. Squeeze out the juice. It turns out a glass of juice.
  3. Add 1 tbsp to the juice. l. vinegar, so the color will be more uniform and deep.
  4. Place eggs in the resulting juice, soak them for half an hour.
  5. Remove gently and air dry completely.
  6. You can't touch it right away, since the color is very delicate at first. But after drying, the color is absorbed, penetrates into the shell and becomes brighter. The marble shade appears on its own, since the eggs are colored unevenly, with stains that resemble natural ones.

With turmeric

With the help of turmeric, eggs are obtained with a rich yellow color. In addition, it is also a natural and safe colorant. In order for you to get a bright yellow shell color as a result, you should take white products and cook them first. Let's describe the sequence of work.

  1. Before boiling, eggs should be taken out of the refrigerator in an hour so that they reach room temperature.
  2. Boil them in water with added salt for 10 minutes. Cool in cold water after boiling.
  3. Dilute about 20 g of turmeric in 1 liter of water and keep on fire for 2 minutes, cool and strain. Take a pan, preferably an old one, made of stainless steel, not enamel. The dishes are heavily stained with turmeric.
  4. Dip foods in the turmeric solution for 10-12 hours.
  5. Remove with a spoon and let dry on a napkin, oil if desired. The shell will absorb the color over time and turn bright yellow.

You can decorate the finished dish with all kinds of beautiful leaves, for example, parsley leaves are perfect for this. Before painting with any of the above methods, simply attach the leaves to the shell, wrap it tightly with gauze or stocking and wrap it with threads. You will have a beautiful applique.

Lace

If you have any remnants of lace, you can use them to create a very beautiful pattern on the surface of the shell. Wrap the lace around the egg tightly with the threads. Next, cook them in any way: in onion skins, or simply paint the already boiled eggs in a solution of food coloring.

Rainbow

Let's see how to create wonderful rainbow colors:

  1. Boil white eggs first;
  2. paint with food-grade paint in a light color, such as yellow;
  3. prepare dyes of other shades in different containers;
  4. dip in different colors, holding with your fingers, halfway until the paint is taken;
  5. let dry and repeat, painting over the other part.

Thus, showing imagination, you can create beautiful multi-colored dyes with a rainbow gradient.

You can decorate the eggs with a variety of stripes using scotch tape. To do this, you need to paint the shell in any light delicate color with food dyes. Stick the strips of scotch tape at your discretion and dip in a darker color. Allow to dry and remove the tape.

Decoupage technique

For those who are familiar with this technique, it will be easy to try to paint in this way. True, you have to tinker, but you will be happy with the result:

  1. buy special napkins for decoupage;
  2. boil eggs and paint them in a delicate color: yellow or blue;
  3. prepare liquid gelatin glue: soak the gelatin and heat it over low heat until it is completely dissolved;
  4. cut out a piece of napkin and attach it to the surface;
  5. apply glue on top (from the middle to the edges) with a brush;
  6. let dry completely.

You will get unusual beautiful dyes.

Drapanki

This decoration method is quite complicated and requires artistic ability. Thin graceful patterns or inscriptions are scribbled onto painted plain eggs with a sharp clerical knife or sharp needle. The process is laborious and long, but the effect is simply amazing.

Finally, you can simply paint them with food coloring and stick on any Easter stickers. If you hold it in the paint for a very short time, then the shell will turn into gentle pastel colors.

Great Easter, Christ's Resurrection is a beloved and long-awaited holiday. We hope that our recommendations will help you beautifully paint eggs and decorate with them a festive table, at which the whole family will gather.
