Naturalness in care and hygiene attracts women every day more and more. When it comes to modern deodorants, many people think about looking for harmless analogs, because aluminum, which is part of this cosmetics, hurts health when it accumulates. In this article, we will look at how to make a deodorant with your own hands.

What can be made from?

Sweat deodorants can be made from different ingredients. Each of them has its own properties, for example:

  • cornstarch, clay and arrowroot absorb moisture;
  • White clay and baking soda kill bacteria (the source of the unpleasant odor);
  • beeswax eliminates inflammation without clogging pores, is used to make a solid base;
  • diatomite cleans the skin well from toxic substances;
  • coconut or cocoa butter fights microorganisms and nourishes the skin with nutrients;
  • tea tree essential oil has an antibacterial effect.

Advantages and disadvantages

Home-made anti-sweat remedies have many benefits. For example, they:

  • available and easy to manufacture;
  • do not have preservatives and harmful ingredients;
  • relieve moisture without clogging pores;
  • do not accumulate in the body;
  • do not cause breast cancer;
  • do not lead to endocrine system disorders;
  • inhibit the growth of bacteria;
  • have a beneficial effect on the condition of the skin.

    There are no fragrances or parabens in home remedies, they are harmless to health.

    In addition, they often do not interrupt the main perfume, having a light and pleasant aroma. The price is also an advantage: home remedies are much cheaper than their counterparts. In this case, the components can be bought at a pharmacy or in a store.

    Also attractive is the fact that along with eliminating unpleasant odors, homemade deodorants nourish the skin. Industrial counterparts, with regular use, drain it, making it flabby and unattractive. Natural remedies, on the other hand, nourish it, improving its appearance and condition in general.

    However, along with the advantages, homemade deodorants have several disadvantages, for example:

    • they have a not so long-lasting effect;
    • they cannot be stored for a long time;
    • eliminating odor, they do not always get rid of moisture.

      Other ingredients in home remedies for eliminating unpleasant odors (such as essential oils) react to the sun and can cause burns or age spots.

      In rare cases, users are allergic to certain components of home deodorants. Choosing your own recipe for natural hygiene products is necessary taking into account the study of each ingredient. Some oils are contraindicated in pregnancy and hypertension.

      Making at home

      Today you can find a lot of different recipes for making natural underarm deodorants. Deodorant can be solid, powder, or liquid. However, any of them will need a container. This can be a bottle from a previously used hygiene product, which is washed and disinfected. For powder, you will need a tube (like from a powder); empty containers can be purchased in specialized stores.

      Let's take a look at a few proven step-by-step recipes used by fans of natural cosmetics.

      Armpit powder

      For powdered deodorant, you can use regular baking soda (0.25 cups), the same amount of cornstarch, 5 drops of tea tree ether, and a few drops of any essential oil for scent. The preparation of the powder is simple: soda is mixed with starch, after which oils are added to the mixture. Everything is thoroughly mixed, placed in a previously prepared container with a sealed lid.

      To prevent the starch from absorbing moisture, store the jar in a dry room.

      You can use this powder for a month, if during this time it has taken up in lumps, it is thrown away and made again. If the smell has disappeared, you can add a couple more drops of the aromatic ether over time. The product is not rubbed into the armpits, but they are powdered. Rubbing in too much can irritate the skin.

      Solid wax

      You can make an effective remedy for sweat yourself from beeswax (8 g), coconut oil (3 tablespoons), vitamin E (1 teaspoon), cornstarch (3 tablespoons), soda (2 tablespoons), tea tree ether (10 drops), aromatic oil (2-3 drops). The preparation of a solid deodorant begins by melting the wax in a water bath in a ceramic or glass container. Coconut oil is also melted there.

      The mass is removed from the fire, vitamin E, soda, starch are put into it. Mix, add aromatic ether, then pour into jars for hardening, remove to a cold place. You can use cream jars by applying a thin layer of deodorant, like a cream.

      You can modify the recipe using 50 g of wax, 2 tbsp. l. coconut oil, 10 drops of tea tree ether and 10 drops of aromatic oil.

      The wax is melted in a water bath, coconut oil is added to it, removed from the heat, and a little later, ethers are included in the composition. It remains to mix everything and cool, pouring into jars.

      Solid from soda and powder

      To prepare this cosmetic, prepare shea butter (3 tbsp. l.), soda (3 tbsp. l.), 2 tbsp. l. cocoa butter and baby powder, and lemon (rosemary or mint) essential oil. The base oils are melted in a water bath, without boiling, the remaining ingredients are added, ethers are added at the very end to achieve a fragrant smell. The mass is cooled slightly and then poured into a used solid deodorant bottle. It is placed in a refrigerator and stored there in the summer.

      Liquid

      Liquid deodorant can be made from apple cider vinegar (3 tbsp.l.), a glass of water and a few drops of any essential oil. The recipe is simple: water is mixed with vinegar, after which essential oil is added to the liquid. The mixture is poured into a previously prepared container for liquid deodorants.

      If you need a liquid preparation but don't want to use vinegar, you can change the recipe by removing the water from it and using rosemary hydrolate instead.

      You can make a natural deodorant from other ingredients: coconut oil (5 tablespoons), starch (70 g), baking soda (30 g), 3 drops of tea tree ether and 0.5 tsp. brewed green tea. Soda is mixed with cornstarch, after which green tea is added to the mass, and then coconut oil. Mix well, combine with ether, mix again.

      You can make a liquid deodorant spray with baking soda and boiling water. Soda is poured with boiling water, cooled, poured into a prepared jar with a spray. They use it like a regular spray deodorant. The effect of the drug is short-lived, but it eliminates the smell.

      Oily

      Natural antiperspirant deodorants made from vegetable oils have proven to be effective. You can take almond oil, grape seed oil, apricot oil. In addition to the oil itself (50 ml), you will need ethers of rosemary, tea tree, lavender (3-5 drops each). The ingredients are combined, after which the mass is poured into a clean roller bottle.

      It is necessary to use the product in dosage so as not to leave stains on clothes.

      With probiotic

      Such a remedy is made from cocoa butter (0.5 cups), potato starch and soda (70 g each), as well as essential oils (lemongrass, geranium or lavender) and 2 capsules of powdered probiotic. A sweat remedy is made according to the following scheme: the butter is melted over low heat, combined with starch and soda, mixed and kept for about 7-10 minutes. Then you need to cool the mass a little and add essential oils to it.

      The probiotic is included in the composition only after the mass has completely cooled down. The agent is placed in a cold place to solidify.

      With clay for sensitive skin

      The solid antiperspirant formulation for hypersensitive underarm skin includes: 1 st. l. coconut oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, 2 tbsp. l. corn starch, 1 tsp each soda and bentonite clay, 5-7 drops of tea tree ether... Prepare a remedy for sweat as follows: mix starch, soda, clay, heat wax in a water bath, combine with oils. Then they are removed from the stove, and dry components and ethers are added as it cools.

      How to store and use?

      Storage conditions will depend on the type of product manufactured. For example, powder cannot be stored in a bathroom where it is damp all the time. Deodorants with a base of beeswax or coconut oil are stored in the refrigerator, because in summer they can melt and flow out of the container. If the composition contains components that do not react to temperature and humidity, store these funds at room temperature.

      Apply them on clean armpits... Moreover, they should be dry. Some formulations are not suitable for application immediately after shaving and epilation as they may irritate the skin. Others are anti-inflammatory and therefore work well for soothing shaved underarms. Apply them about 5 minutes after epilation.

      Apply natural preparations in a thin layer, literally in a couple of strokes without indentation. After application, depending on the type of product, it is necessary to wait 5-7 minutes so that the product is absorbed and no stains remain on the clothes.

      If the clothes are black, it is undesirable to use preparations with talcum powder (powder), this leaves light spots on the clothes.

      Do not apply products to skin if it has cracks or cuts after shaving. Getting into wounds can lead to skin irritation and burning. Do not treat the armpits before visiting the gym, bath, sauna or beach. Do not smear your armpits if they already smell, you need to wash them before using the deodorant.

      The product applied in the heat can interfere with normal thermoregulation, which sometimes leads not only to age spots, but also to edema. If redness, rash, irritation appears after application, this product should not be used. It is removed from the skin with warm water and is not used in the future.

      Wash off homemade deodorants just like store products.

      The skin must breathe; it is undesirable to leave hygiene preparations overnight. You cannot use the product for a long time, because there are no preservatives in it. After about a month or two, it's best to make a fresh deodorant. It will take a little time, and fresh products are safer for skin health.
