Organizing a child's room can be difficult. In addition to the work and play area, the child needs his own place to rest - both during the day and at night. You can get a full-fledged sleeping place and save room space using a sofa equipped with a roll-out mechanism. Finding a sofa suitable for a child is not difficult, but you need to take into account many nuances.

Features, pros and cons

All sofas with a transform function have quite a few positive characteristics:

  • they save space;
  • can be used as a place to sleep, play, watch cartoons;
  • they are practical and replace part of the furniture (this will save time and money);
  • have a wide selection of models for every taste;
  • construction and materials are safe, they are designed for long-term use and intense stress.

But it is roll-out sofas that are better suited for a children's room. Their main advantage is that it is easier for a child to control such a structure. Moreover, children's models are designed so that the children themselves are engaged in expanding the sofa, and they can do it. Of course, at the initial stage, the intervention of adults will be required, but usually such mechanisms are of interest even to babies.

Moreover, helping parents and cleaning bedding on time will be the first skills on the path to developing independence.

Views

There are not so many varieties of roll-out sofas. Moreover, in a narrow sense, this can only be called a model, the moving part of which is equipped with wheels.If, after extending, it is required to lower or raise any parts in order to get an even berth, then the sofa can also be called a folding or sliding sofa. For the nursery, varieties equipped with mechanisms are most often chosen:

  • "Dolphin";
  • "accordion";
  • "Telescope (conrad)";
  • "Eurobook".

In addition to the above structures, which roll out forward, there are sofas with sideways extension. The easiest option is when the seat moves to the side, and the side board folds down and becomes part of the mattress. In addition, there are:

  • direct (traditional);
  • corner sofas that easily turn into a berth after rolling out the second half.

Almost all of these models can serve as storage for laundry, toys or other things. For this, most products have boxes or niches. In addition, the back or side panels can be equipped with shelves or pockets.

Colors and designs

The appearance of the sofa depends on:

  • interests of the child;
  • age group;
  • coating material.

The design of the product, the shape of its seat, backrest and sidewalls are practically unlimited. It can depict cartoon characters or small prints in a specific theme - animals, flowers, natural phenomena and objects (stars, the sun, etc.). Boys are most often attracted to transport or sports. For girls, more cute options are suitable - for example, with animals.

There are no clear color recommendations. Children first of all pay attention to everything bright. Red, orange or yellow colors can brighten both the boy's and the girl's room.

But if the child is overly excited or gets tired quickly, it is better to pay attention to the calm shades of blue, green or purple.

It is important for preschoolers that the sofa has bumpers. Besides convenience and protection, they can become an independent decorative element... A voluminous back in the form of a house, a princess castle or a car looks especially attractive.

If parents want the sofa to last longer, then it is worth choosing a more discreet design, because the tastes of children change with age.

Dimensions (edit)

Each upholstered furniture manufacturer has its own dimensional grid, however, most of them can make a custom sofa. For children under 14 years old, a single bed is quite suitable, but it should not be already 80 cm.

If the child sleeps restlessly, it is better to increase the width so as not to hamper movement and to exclude the possibility of falling.

The length of the berth is always taken with a margin. This parameter for children's models can, on average, reach 180 cm (in the unfolded state). To find out the length that is comfortable for the child, add 25-30 cm to his height.If the children are very small, and the space of the room allows, you can order a wide sofa (from 120 cm). Then the baby will be able to sleep on it for the first time without rolling out additional parts.

The height of the product depends on the length of its sliding part and the built-in mechanism. For children under 5 years old, it is better to choose the lower option. It should be remembered that the dimensions of the product are larger than the dimensions of the berth. Armrests and a massive backrest can take up to 20 cm from the usable area. This should be taken into account when choosing a place for furniture.

Selection Tips

In the selection process, it is important to formulate the main criteria, which will help determine the appropriate option.

  • It is necessary to consider all possible types of withdrawable mechanisms, their complexity and reliability. Only practice can show how easily the sofa can be brought into the open position.
  • Pay attention to the materials of all parts... Natural wood is preferable for the frame of children's sofas, but plywood will be much cheaper and lighter. The metal frame is quite strong and reliable, but it will not affect the weight of the product for the better. It is better not to save on fittings, because the service life of the furniture depends on it. Another important point is the upholstery.The cover of a children's sofa should not only be beautiful, but also practical. It is better to choose a material that is dirt-repellent and easy to clean.
  • It is necessary to make sure that the sofa does not harm the baby's health and makes his rest comfortable.... Among modern fillers for sleeping places, priority is given to polyurethane foam or latex. Spring blocks wear out faster and can cause spinal diseases.
  • For two children, it is better to choose separate sofas. So that the interior of the children's room does not look scattered, the furniture for both children should be made in the same style. But the color and decor can be different, according to the preferences of each.
