Corner sofa beds are not the most common piece of furniture in our homes. But knowledge of their main varieties is very important. If you ignore this point, no other tips for choosing will help here.

Views

A corner sofa bed is almost a versatile piece of furniture. Not universal in the sense that it can be used anywhere, anytime. The bottom line is that the sleeping place will appear only at the moments when it is really needed.

If the need for it disappears, you can easily free up a fair amount of free space. Therefore, such a solution is definitely recommended for small rooms.

But from the very beginning, people can face difficulties in choosing. It is necessary to distinguish clearly between left and right corner sofas. They can only be placed in a special way, and if the premises do not allow this, the purchase will be, in essence, useless. This point needs to be clarified every time, and not only when making custom-made furniture, but also when visiting large stores. The next important gradation is folding and non-folding sofas.

The second option continues to be relevant, despite the less convenience. The fact is that transformation almost always takes up a lot of useful space... In addition, even the best layout mechanisms are the “weak point” of any furniture. They are the ones that fail earlier than the main parts and the body. But it is also necessary to take into account the features of a particular folding device. It directly affects the height and firmness of the mattress. Therefore, it determines how healthy and pleasant sleep will be.

The classic solution is "French clamshell". Such a mechanism folds in the form of a roll inside the sofa. After removing the pillows, you need to unscrew the base and put it on a pair of support rods.

A mattress about 0.06 m thick is placed on top. Such a mechanism is hardly suitable for daily use. But in order to periodically receive guests, it fits perfectly.

If you are not satisfied with a thin mattress, you can choose "American folding bed" (aka sedaflex). Such a mechanism also outperforms the French counterpart in the layout speed, in addition, it has not one barbell, but two whole supports.

You can expand in one movement "Italian" folding bed. The sleeping area is pulled out together with the sofa back. The final position of the backrest is behind the floor supports.

It enjoys considerable popularity and "accordion". It is not difficult to recognize it - the double backrest folds in the manner of an "accordion". You can unfold the "accordion" by pushing the seat up and pulling it towards you. The mechanism, however, will have to be looked after. Squeak can be avoided by lubricating moving parts with special oil. The "recliner" option is considered universal, because it allows you to control the angle of the backrest and pull out the ottoman.

The undeniably classic solution is "book"... Such a mechanism appeared a long time ago, and still has many fans. It should be remembered about its characteristic drawback: to unfold the sofa, you will have to take a little away from the wall. The improved solution, the roll-out "Eurobook", is free from this drawback. But the wheel stands can damage the floor covering.

Can also be used:

  • "Walking eurobook";
  • "tango";
  • "Click-gag";
  • "Eurosophus";
  • "telescope";
  • "Dolphin".

But the gradation of sofa beds does not end there... Almost all of them are equipped with a spring block. Only the most rigid of free-flowing fillers can compare with such a solution in terms of convenience and technology. Lovers of freedom and frequent rearrangements will definitely choose a flexible modular type. And those who like to arrange parties and get-togethers with friends will prefer a model with a bar included.

Dimensions (edit)

It is generally accepted that a corner sofa cannot be compact. It is used mainly in spacious rooms. At the same time, pay attention to the size both folded and open. And yet, the dimensions of the models are quite diverse. The length and width can vary from 140 to 210 cm.

The depth of the sofa bed is most often 0.6-0.8 m. But it is directly influenced by the type of transforming mechanism. For single use, most often they purchase a small sofa, the width of the bed in which is 1.4-1.5 m. But if you need double furniture or the product is purchased for a married couple, you cannot do with such a small sofa bed.

You need to choose models with a length and width of 1.6 to 1.9 m.

For a very large room, you can buy a sofa bed over 2 m and a depth of 0.6-0.8 m. Some modifications of the "book" type can be up to 3 m in length. The dimensions of modular structures vary depending on their shape. Individual blocks are extremely rarely less than 0.5 m in length and width. However, to order, you can also reduce their size.

Materials (edit)

Upholstery

The fabric type of upholstery, oddly enough, is more practical than the use of leather. Even perfect leather surfaces are easily damaged by sharp objects. And it is quite possible to choose a fabric that decently protects the inside of the sofa bed from moisture.

In many cases, dense, solid jacquard is attractive. It practically does not wear out and fade very little even in bright sun.

Jacquard weaving retains its original external appeal for a long time. But many professionals believe that flock may be the best choice. He:

  • serves for a long time;
  • mechanically strong;
  • safe in sanitary and environmental terms;
  • little wears out;
  • in appearance it is close to chic velvet.

They are distinguished by strength and chenille. The reason for this advantage is obvious - the base of the fabric is made as strong as possible, if only the technology is followed. Chenille is characterized by the density and softness of the pile. It is formed by carefully selected artificial and natural fabrics. A more traditional solution is tapestry; however, its practical and aesthetic value is overshadowed by its high cost.

Filler

No matter how good the upholstery is, the question "what's inside" is very important when choosing a sofa. Previously, upholstered furniture was equipped with spring blocks. These are solid and modern technical solutions. A circuit with dependent springs is often used. The disadvantage is obvious: as soon as one spring is damaged, the supporting points adjacent to it also suffer. The difference between the models is related to the diameter of the springs and their number per unit area. Dependent blocks are good for upholstered furniture in the living room, but in the bedroom it is better to choose a sofa bed with an independent spring filling.

Reducing the diameter of the springs has a positive effect on the orthopedic characteristics of the product. They sometimes additionally overlap:

  • coir of coconut;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • horsehair.

The density of the overlays ultimately determines how hard the surface will be. As for the independent spring units, they are made by wrapping each support in a separate fabric cover. As a result, nothing sags or wobbles.

Independent execution makes less noise. The springs are calculated and positioned so that they compress and expand under each part of the body, taking into account the nuances of the load.

Design

Talking about modern sofa beds in the interior, one cannot avoid mentioning gray models. The opinion that it is boring and inexpressive has long been refuted. You just need to correctly apply this key and find a suitable task for it in the composition. Both gray, brown and beige colors make the interior feel more relaxed. For a warmer room, different shades of orange and yellow are suitable.

Blue, blue paints will help to visually expand the space. The shades of green will be as harmonious as possible. In a classic setting, pastel-colored furniture looks most appropriate. But in a very light space, you can put the sofa 1-3 tones darker than the walls. It is not recommended to use darker products; only experienced designers will be able to pick them up without being too gloomy.

Selection criteria

The most important point when choosing a sofa bed is to budget correctly. If you strive to buy too cheap something that cannot be cheap, then 100% of your hands will be a fake. When it is necessary to provide a very simple and easy transformation, the "Eurobook" mechanism is preferred. It is desirable that there are flexible slats.

Thanks to them, support in a dream will be optimal.The surface of the sofa bed should be as flat as possible. Any joint creates inconvenience, and ideally it is better to do without them altogether. You need to go shopping only to large stores or to branches of manufacturing firms.

When buying a sofa bed with a dependent spring block, you need to clarify that it belongs to the "bonnel" type. And, of course, consumer feedback on specific models should be considered.

Beautiful examples

The photo shows a light gray corner sofa bed. Despite the seemingly discreet colors, it goes well with a very light floor. Rich red curtains help to make the room more interesting. In combination with light beige walls, the sophistication of the design solution is also manifested. The use of pillows of the same color is also quite appropriate.

And this is what a corner sofa bed looks like with a matting covering. The combination of black and light elements of the composition is perceived very well. Even the shape of the pillows is thought out so that everything looks as elegant as possible.The combination of a sofa with a lush carpet and simple wood flooring is eye-catching.

Also noteworthy is its visual compatibility with paintings of sophisticated subjects hung on light walls.
