Many housewives believe kitchen towels can be crisp white for just a couple of days after purchase. But in practice, this opinion is easy to refute. There are many ways to keep fabrics looking and color, even if the towel is used for a long period.

Whitening products without boiling at home

Grandfather's methods primarily suggest getting rid of stains by boiling, although this method has many disadvantages.

Firstly, an unpleasant smell from containers with boiling cloth will hover throughout the apartment, and secondly, the texture of the material suffers, due to which the life of the matter is significantly reduced.

There are many popular ways to whiten a towel without using boiling water. The main thing to remember is that each method is different in its own way. For one type of fabric, the method with household chemicals is suitable; for the second, the use of soda is required. It's all the fault of the quality of water and the level of pollution of matter. Therefore, you should not immediately despair, if one cleaning option did not help, you should resort to another method or even a third.

First of all, modern housewives are trying to bleach towels using household chemicals, but they only use washing powders. However, the best way to remove greasy stains is with a gel dish detergent. The powder intended for cleaning the drain pipe copes with the work of the bleach fairly well. For tough stains, use dishwasher tablets.

Seeing a fresh stain of fat, an immediate soaking procedure is required. To do this, dilute 50 ml of dishwashing gel in a small container with warm water. A towel is dipped into the resulting liquid for about thirty minutes. After that, the soaked cloth must be transferred to a similar solution, but instead of the gel, use the Mole cleaner. A day later, kitchen textiles must be washed in a washing machine with ordinary powder.

In fact, there are a lot of ways to return the snow-white look to towels. Often offered folk recipes have been tested for centuries and passed down from generation to generation. The most unusual foods can be used, for example, mustard or vinegar. The main thing is that the effect will not be long in coming.

Sunflower oil

Vegetable oil can help whiten kitchen towels effectively. Of course, this method sounds somewhat contradictory, because basically you have to deal with greasy spots. No wonder they say that like is treated like. Another important feature of this method is that sunflower oil helps to get rid of not only visible dirt, but also cleans the fibers of the fabric.

An important tip, the oil must be purchased. During the production process, it goes through several levels of filtration, due to which it is easier to rinse out from the cleaned fabric.

The first cleaning method is suitable for standard types of dirt. Pour half a glass of detergent into five liters of hot water and add a few tablespoons of bleach. If the washing powder itself has a whitening effect, then its amount should be slightly increased. Then add three tablespoons of sunflower oil. Stir the resulting mixture. Soak dirty towels for five hours, then machine wash and rinse. After drying, they will be new again.

The second cleaning option is used to remove stubborn dirt. For three liters of hot water, take half a glass of powder, three tablespoons of bleach, it is better to use dry, ten tablespoons of vinegar, three tablespoons of sunflower oil. Before preparing the mixture, the towels themselves must first be washed and dried. The textile prepared for cleaning is dipped into the solution, and lies there until the liquid has completely cooled down. After that, another wash is carried out, and this time at the choice of the hostess. It can be in the washing machine, or on your hands. By the way, when hand washing, the ideal cleanliness of towels is clearly expressed.

Mustard

The abilities of mustard in the fight against greasy stains are known to many housewives, but due to the rarity of use, they could simply be forgotten. Mustard powder is able to deal with any stains as well as protect the fiber structure.

Having planted a fresh stain on a towel, it is required to immediately dilute the mustard powder to the consistency of a thick porridge and apply to the affected area of the tissue. Half an hour will be enough to eat away at a fresh stain. Then the towel needs to be sent to the washing machine.

The second method is suitable for busy housewives. A solution is prepared from five tablespoons of mustard powder and three liters of hot water. The ingredients are mixed, and then the mixture is filtered. The towel is soaked in the prepared liquid for two hours. Then it is sent to the washing machine using ordinary powder.

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is considered to be a very effective bleaching agent for fabrics. Its composition not only removes dirt from the towels, but also gives the structure of the material additional protection. This factor contributes to the prolongation of the life of the kitchen fabric.

The bleaching solution itself is very simple to prepare. For six liters of hot water, add two tablespoons of peroxide and one tablespoon of ammonia. In case of heavy contamination, the amount of water should be halved.Whitening towels must be washed and dried beforehand. Thirty minutes in the solution will be quite enough, then the towels must be washed.

How to bleach in a washing machine?

Methods for bleaching towels in a washing machine are known to every housewife. There is no difficulty in this. Following the instructions, it is necessary to pour bleach into a special hole and pour washing powder. Set the program and wait until the end of the wash. But the result is not always perfect. This is because the washing rules are not followed.

  • Before you start bleaching in the washing machine, you need to check the dirty laundry. Only white items are loaded into the washing machine drum with a white cloth.
  • To get the result as close to ideal as possible, you must set the pre-wash mode.
  • To bleach towels, baking soda must be added in addition to the bleach itself.
  • When washing white kitchen towels, the washing machine program temperature should not be lower than seventy degrees.
  • To get the fibers of the fabric to their original appearance, you must use a conditioner for washing. In addition to the tactile sensation of novelty, the fabric will acquire a pleasant smell.

"Washing" in the microwave

In addition to standard kitchen towel bleaching solutions, there are modern ways to remove grease stains. In this case, you do not even have to leave the territory of the kitchen.

The soiled towel will need to be wetted, then lathered with laundry soap or dishwashing detergent. The workpiece is placed in a bag and sent to the microwave. The timer is set to a time of five minutes, the power is four hundred and fifty watts. As soon as the program has finished working, the towel must be sent to the washing machine.

It is worth noting that microwave bleaching is more suitable for towels made from cotton and cotton fabrics.

Boiling rules

If the folk methods did not help solve the bleaching problem, you will have to resort to boiling the towels. This treatment is ideal for cotton and linen. These materials are mainly used for sewing kitchen towels and rags. The boiling process itself requires the use of an enamel or galvanized container. But a copper or iron saucepan for the boiling procedure is prohibited. A chemical reaction may occur that will adversely affect the fabric to be bleached.

So that the towels do not deteriorate during boiling, but, on the contrary, get their original appearance, you must strictly follow the action plan.

  • At the very bottom of the prepared container, you must put a white cloth.
  • Next, a soap solution is diluted. You can use washing powder for this. An alternative to powder is a household detergent. Then ammonia is added to the soapy liquid. The ratio of ammonia to water is 1: 10. It is ammonia that plays an important role as a bleach in the boiling procedure.
  • Towels are dipped into the finished solution. If the dirt is old and stubborn, the cloth must be manually soaped beforehand.
  • The boiling time of the fabric lasts up to one hour. To maximize fiber penetration, stir the towels regularly with a wooden stick.
  • After boiling, the kitchen utensils must be rinsed thoroughly.

The boiling procedure for a modern person is not considered an ordinary thing, therefore, the occurrence of an unpleasant odor in an apartment can unbalance. To prevent unpleasant moments, it is suggested to use slightly different substances for cleaning the fabric.

  • Instead of powder and ammonia, potassium permanganate and laundry soap are ideal. Only the maximum boiling time with these elements is reduced to half an hour.
  • "White" and powder. The formula of the compound is as follows: ten liters of water, two caps of "Whiteness" and one glass of washing powder. The maximum digestion time is one and a half hours. Then you need to rinse the towels in warm and cold water.
  • Soda. A few tablespoons are enough. Boil time is maximum fifteen minutes.
