Visiting the Crimean peninsula, each traveler can find several attractions on the map at once. This mountainous area is famous not only for its impressive nature, but also for places of particular popularity. One of these places is the Gazebo of the Winds. Considering that it is located in the open area of the mountain top, the name seems even more beautiful.

The gazebo of winds in Crimea is one of the observation platforms located on the mountain specifically so that the surroundings can be clearly seen from above. It offers an excellent overview, and there really is something to see!

Where is?

This popular tourist destination is located within the boundaries of the nature reserve on the sheer cliff of Shaan-Kaya. However, before going on a tourist trip to this wonderful heritage of architecture, it is worth remembering some of the features and rules of visiting it. The gazebo overlooks the distant expanses protected by the reserve, which means - to the nature, untouched by the human hand.

On a clear and sunny day, you can observe landscapes up to 200 kilometers into the distance.

And to look into the bright and colorful nature on the sunny expanses of Crimea is really worth it, because thanks to the warm climate, an incredible amount of various greenery grows there.

Where did the gazebo come from?

This is both a simple and a difficult question. It appeared at the top for years in an understandable way - it was erected, and, by the way, quite recently by the standards of historical architecture. The Gazebo of the Winds was built during the Soviet Union, in the mid-50s of the last century, just in time for the planned visit by the head of state Khrushchev to the Crimea peninsula. However, something did not work out according to the schedule, and Nikita Sergeyevich did not have a chance to come to this place, but the gazebo remained. By the way, neither the names nor the surnames of the architects have been preserved in the archives.

The further history of this gazebo is more rosy. It has become a favorite place to visit for tourists and locals alike. In addition, at the end of the last millennium, at the end of the 90s, the building was restored, and it became even more attractive than before. Immediately after the reconstruction and restoration, a plaque with a name was installed above the entrance of this gazebo, which described it as a "shower of memories". Despite this colorful comparison, it turned out that there is already a place in Koktebel that has a similar name. Precisely because this gazebo was given its original and more familiar name over the years - the gazebo of the seven winds.

What can be seen from the mountain?

Since the weather in Crimea is very often clear, the visibility from the mountain is excellent. From the Gazebo of the Seven Winds, you can see the following.

  • Cape Plaka, it is on the right - on the east side. There you can also see a building called Gagarina's palace.
  • From this place you can see another mountain, which has a name Ayu-Dag - Bear Mountain. It is also very beautiful and is used in tourist routes.
  • There is a children's camp in front of the mountain, which has a well-known name "Artek"... But behind this one you can find the village of Gurzuf.

What's interesting in Gurzuf?

In addition to the fact that this settlement is located near the sea and is a resort, it is located near a natural reserve with unprecedented beauty.

In addition, it is also an "open-air museum", as its architectural heritage keeps a huge history.

For example, we can mention the dacha of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. Of course, the places of residence of such interesting people do not go unnoticed after their death. They set up a museum there, invite tourists to visit Chekhov's dacha and stroll through a beautiful large park.

How to get to the gazebo?

It is not so easy to get to the Gazebo of the Winds, since it is located on a mountain within a nature reserve, that is, it is a controlled and protected area. Entrance and entry to it costs money and is carried out as part of tourist excursions or in person. If you want to be inside, then you will have to purchase a pass for 1400 rubles, for children it is half the price, and for children under 6 years old for free.

The excursion itself will cost an additional fifty rubles, but this is not a mandatory event. It is worth taking it only in case of historical and cultural interest, but if you wanted to enjoy the landscape on your own, do so, without a guide. Reaching on foot is also not easy. Full independence cannot be achieved, because accompaniment is still necessary: it will be a guide or just an employee of the reserve who will control your routes.

You can find yourself in these places from 8 to 17 hours. And it is better to be there not earlier than May and not later than October, because strong winds blow here (it is not for nothing that the gazebo got this name) even in summer, and the snow cover can reach a level higher than human height. There are several routes to travel around the reserve, each of which is remarkable for something special and interesting.

You can visit from monasteries and farms to dachas of famous people or historical buildings. You can try to climb the mountain on foot, but this requires good endurance and knowledge of the terrain, for which it is recommended to study the map and bypass routes.

Lifting problems

The height of this mountain itself is more than 200 meters, but it is not entirely correct to think so. It is located on a hill, and the total height above sea level is already 871 meters, and this, you see, is quite an impressive value. In accordance with such an altitude of the location of this tourist zone and the Gazebo of the winds, the traveler may have the following difficulties.

  • Do not forget that this is a mountain where roads are rarely repaired, and it is good if they were laid there by man, and not by nature itself. Accordingly, it is worth driving carefully, preferably in a private car, but in clear weather. So you will not only find yourself more secure, but also be able to see from above the more distant corners of the Crimea.
  • Also, remember that in the mountains the wind does not stop anything, which means that it will most likely be present there, and by no means the hottest. It is better to take a sweatshirt with a hood or a windbreaker with you just in case, so you may be more comfortable.
  • Despite the fact that this is an excursion zone, there are no places where food can be sold, because take both food and water with you.
  • Well, if you are really interested in culture, history and architecture in more detail, then it is better not to rely on the knowledge of the guide, he is not your assistant. In this case, it would be more correct to hire a guide.

A real reserve

Not far from the Gazebo of the Winds you can find several plants that are listed in the Red Book and are really very rare. Some of these are - Yaylinsky resins... By itself, this plant has been studied very little, and nothing is known about its pharmacological properties, since it is incredibly rare. This shrub belongs to the clove family.

Not far from the massif of these plants there are rocks, looking into the gorges of which, you can find arches.

This is a unique natural phenomenon that occurs due to a change in the integrity of the Crimean mountains, which is affected by karst processes.

It is definitely worth a visit to the Gazebo of the Winds if you come to Crimea... This place is very beautiful, picturesque, interesting and attractive. So much so that you do not want to leave here, but only look into the distance, experiencing peace. If you are an adventure lover, nothing prevents you, having studied the route, climb the mountain on foot on your own, which makes the views presented by Mother Nature seem even more beautiful.

You can appreciate the beauty of such an amazing place without leaving your home. All the details are in the video below.
