The Viking Cinema Park is a place that is difficult to compare with anything. A unique object, which today has become another attractive travel destination in Crimea. This is not just an attraction, theater or amusement park, but a cultural and historical complex that has no analogues. Tourists go to the peninsula not only to see legendary historical sites. They are witnessing the popularization of new, modern and unique ones. This is also the Viking village.

Description and history of creation

The name itself attracts - the cinema park. This is one of the largest European cinema parks. What does cinema have to do with it? The object is associated with the acclaimed historical film "Viking", starring Danila Kozlovsky.

Even skeptics, who, even before watching, condemned the very idea of making a film about Prince Vladimir and the baptism of Rus, still watched the movie - it was interesting to know how realistically the creators of really old times would show.

The work on the blockbuster by Andrey Kravchuk was long: the shooting went on for 7 years (along with the preparation for the process). Some of the scenes were filmed in Crimea.

About a third of all sets were built on what is today called a cinema park, or a Viking village.

All buildings required historical accuracy: their creation was overseen by a group of historians. This was done not just for realism - the authors wanted to show how and where people lived at that time. To make the world of the painting come to life, the creators of the project studied not only dozens, but hundreds of scientific works, studied the museum collections of Pskov, Novgorod, Kiev, as well as the national museums of Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark.

The film was shot in several places: at the Glavkino studio (Moscow region), in the steppes near Simferopol, at the Belogorsk reservoir (also in the Crimea). The director himself, regarding the choice of filming in the Crimea, said that the film crew needed large natural sites with beautiful views, and the nature of the Crimea turned out to be ideal for this.

The authors donated the scenery, the drakkar and some of the props of the famous film to the Viking cinema park, which will celebrate its third anniversary in the summer of 2019. And today, every tourist can open the gates of the Crimean park, in which there will be a feeling that a time machine has been invented.

Where is it located and how to get there?

In Crimea, 30 kilometers from Simferopol, a city of the past was built. Literally in an open field in the Kizil-Koba valley, on six hectares, there is an art object interesting for adults and children. By the way, if you are going to the famous Crimean waterfall Su-Uchkhan, then it costs nothing to go to the Viking village, all this is close by.

From Simferopol, buses or trolleybuses go here from any station: choose the direction "Simferopol-Alushta", stop "Red Caves" (another name is "Stadium"). Cross the road, and there are signs waiting for you. From Alushta the way will be the opposite.

The official address of the cinema park: Simferopol district, Perevalnoye village, Stadionnaya street, 15.

Entertainment and activities

The object is quite rightly called a cultural and historical center: it more than illustratively tells about the history of Russia, and the basis of these stories is the oldest surviving chronicle collection "The Tale of Bygone Years".

The Viking village recreates the events of 862 and subsequent years: the vocation of the Varangians, the arrival of the Rurikids, the Baptism of Rus. The habits, customs, crafts, games of the people who inhabited the territory of Russia in the 9th-11th centuries are presented here. In this place, historical recreation merges with adventure. Everyone here will find something according to their interests.

A varied program awaits visitors:

  • historical tour of the medieval city;
  • theatrical battles;
  • visit to the water mill;
  • more than five dozen structures and objects that are made in the style of architecture of the early Middle Ages;
  • contact zoo, where many pets can even be stroked;
  • participation in quests;
  • visit to "Prince Vladimir's Honey House".

Evening programs may differ from daytime programs by organizing a fire show, a big bonfire, storming the gates and capturing the city (theatrical, of course).

Many excursions are organized as an immersive history lesson with full immersion in the era. The fortress gates and palisade hide the king's house, an authentic market, dwellings of artisans, a smithy, an armory, and a shooting range. Those interested can try on Viking armor, they can even throw a spear. Particularly brave ones fight with battle axes, shoot from a bow. Finally, you can visit a medieval restaurant and feed the whole family.

The day in the park begins in an unusual way and continues according to a fascinating scenario. As you approach the park, you already notice the rooftops and tops of the watchtowers, cross the authentic wooden bridge, and the staff will meet you outside the gates. Previously, visitors who bought a ticket received a bag of pebbles (local currency), now this notion has been replaced by the traditional ruble payment.

You will have a map with which you can explore the borg. The map is located on the back of the ticket: it is detailed and understandable. But if an independent excursion does not appeal to you, you can walk with a guide and listen to an interesting story from a professional. If you feel that you are not so strong in history to understand what kind of objects are in front of you, it is better to consult a guide.

And there is something to find out: how did the Vikings live, what was their life like? How were the houses built? What did the wives and children of the Vikings do? And after the excursion, you can walk around the territory yourself, take photos and videos as a keepsake.You will surely enjoy the fisherman's house and courtyard, the woodcarving house, and the leatherworking house.

All these objects are wonderful as keepers of ancient crafts, many of which are actively reviving today, acquiring new life. The stadium, church and stands are also interesting places to visit. And the bakery? And the pottery? Here is a truly gorgeous reconstruction of an ancient village.

Information for visitors

Some potential guests would love to see the recreated Viking village, but it is even more interesting for them to feel themselves in the role of ancient warriors. And in the cinema park it is real - what is the cost of one dressing in the armor of the Vikings, you already want to dignify and show your prowess. And the ways to demonstrate it are right in front of you: archery competitions are exciting and will really help you show your strength. Or maybe you have long dreamed of trying a device resembling a catapult in action?

Visitors can also try themselves in knife throwing, slingshot shooting, and power games. For the less determined, but still not content with a theoretical excursion, a master class in combat will be held. Girls, on the other hand, can join the manufacture of ancient reeled dolls.

Those who are prone to mysticism should also go to the house of the fortuneteller. But even if such prejudices are unusual for you, it is still interesting to listen to the ancient sage.

The cuisine is also interesting for guests. Serves dishes that fit the concept of a Viking village.

Let's take a look at the menu using examples.

  • Chowders of the Varangian cuisine. The ancient warriors loved to warm themselves with a hot soup of three types of fish, the dish was cooked over an open fire. The restaurant offers to taste yushka on pike perch, perch, ruff with carrots and fresh herbs. Or, for example, gevion, this is a festive soup that the Tivertsy treated to the nobility. Light quail broth with lentils and tomatoes will appeal to those who do not like very hearty first courses. But utgarde is a mushroom soup cooked on the meat of homemade chicken.
  • Byzantine cuisine. This section contains dishes that have gone down in the history of cooking. For example, lycos is a famous Greek soup where meat, noodles and herbs are combined in the best possible way. Or egirova ear - the most fragrant, aromatic soup that you want to eat to the last drop.
  • Salads. "Greek", "Byzantine", "Odyssey", "Poseidon", "Kronos", "Siren" - some names are worth something!

    But food is not the only gastronomic experience after visiting the cinema park. In the shop you can buy Crimean herbs and teas that will warm you at home as the best fragrant reminder of the peninsula. Numerous souvenirs are sold in the shops, and a talisman can be made in the pottery workshop.

    Today, various celebrations, festivals, corporate parties, photo sessions are held on the territory of the cinema park. Festivities are held here, Maslenitsa takes place on a grand scale on this territory.

    An adult ticket costs 650 rubles, a child ticket costs 450 rubles, children under five years old are admitted free.

    It will definitely be an interesting experience and an unforgettable experience. I am glad that huge movie parks, like “branches of a time machine”, appear and teach people to love, appreciate, and study history.
