In recent years, the flow of tourists to the Crimean Peninsula has increased significantly. However, despite this, many still think that the level of recreation there is inferior to foreign resorts. Of course, there are many wild, unequipped beaches and old restaurants in Crimea. But along with this, there are also chic places to stay with high-class service. For example, Massandra beach in sunny and hospitable Yalta.

History of origin

Massandra beach acquired its appearance quite recently. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was completely wild in its place. Landslides were frequent throughout the entire Yalta bay, the coast and the bottom were so rocky that people could swim only in shoes and were extremely cautious.

In the middle of the last century, the first work began on the study and improvement of the beach, because after the war with Germany, there was an urgent need to create sanatoriums and resorts to improve and maintain the health of the population. Experts carefully studied the seabed, topography and coastline features.

They drew up a plan so that the beaches were located in the most favorable places for this. As a result, a few concrete breakwaters were erected just below the Massandra Park, metal fortifications for the coast were created, groins were placed on the bottom, and the territory was filled with rubble. And although the beach is located in Yalta, they began to call it Massandra.

Description

Massandra beach is 18 meters wide and 420 meters long. The coastline is strewn with pebbles. There are large stones on it, but they do not pose a danger or obstacle to tourists. The main part of the beach is occupied by infrastructure: bungalows, terraces, cafes, etc.But tourists have enough space to sunbathe and swim in the gentle Black Sea.

By the way, the water here always remains clean, despite the fact that during the season there are just a huge number of people on Massandra beach.... The explanation of this phenomenon is quite simple. From year to year, after the beach was arranged, the water washed away the rubble, which led to a reduction in the coastal strip. To stop this experts lowered the sea and created an artificial reef of anti-carious concrete thirty meters from the coastline. He also extinguished the wave washing out the beach.

Over time, a large number of mussels settled near the reef, which purify the water. That is why there is such an amazingly clean sea in Yalta.

Tourists are also attracted by the climate of this place. On average, the air temperature in Yalta is from 23 to 28 degrees, and in the middle of summer the mark on the thermometer can rise to 35 degrees. In such heat it is very pleasant to swim in the sea, and then enjoy refreshing drinks on the cozy terrace of the summer cafe. The water temperature in August averages 21-28 degrees. It rarely rains. A real spa paradise!

Massandra beach is rightfully considered the best on the entire peninsula. This is confirmed not only by numerous reviews of tourists, but also by professionals. The beach received a victory in the "Five Shells" nomination for the level of service and quality of equipment. Also, the Blue Flag is constantly flying over the beach. This is not just a decoration, but a generally recognized international symbol, which distinguishes beaches of the European level of cleanliness and service.

How to get there?

From anywhere in the Crimea, it is easy to get to Yalta, where the famous beach is located. It is not entirely logical, but you need to go to Yalta, and not to the village of Massandra, since it is located a 20-minute walk from the beach. You need to get to Drazhinsky Street, which is located very close to the embankment and the sea terminal. If you want to get to the beach from Yalta itself by public transport, then you need to get off at the Veschevoy Rynok stop, where buses and minibuses go from any part of the city. From the stop you need to walk quite a bit towards the sea.

The beach is open from 8 am to 5 pm, and the cafes are open until 2 am.

Reviews

Most vacationers who have visited this place say that this is the best beach on the entire peninsula. Indeed, in Crimea there are no longer such equipped modern beaches, the degree of comfort and service of which could be compared with Massandrovsky. Visitors note the cleanliness and neatness of the territory, a large selection of paid services and entertainment. Of course, the purity of the sea is often noted.

The disadvantages include a large number of tourists during the season. However, this only proves the popularity of the beach, and does not detract from its dignity.

In the next video you will find a virtual walk along Massandra beach.
