They are attracted by picturesque nature, warm sea, ideal climate, sandy beaches, mountains, forests, and also the sights of the peninsula. In Crimea, they are presented for every taste: architectural, cultural, historical. It is about them that will be discussed in this article.
Historical monuments of Crimea
The rulers of various states have always tried to take possession of Crimea, which is why there were so many wars on the Crimean territory. Another military campaign began in the middle of the 19th century. The events of those distant years are devoted to Monument to the sunken ships.
It was opened in 1905 in Sevastopol, it is dedicated to those ships that heroically defended the city from enemy ships. In 1855, the forced sinking of Russian ships in the Crimean War was carried out.
Monument representing a seven-meter column, at the top of which is located eagle with bowed head and spread wings, conveys an atmosphere of tragedy and despair. The author of this monument is the Estonian sculptor Amandus Adamson.
The famous sculptor owns another work located in the Crimea - this is a monument "Mermaid on a Stone". The creator came up with the idea of creating a composition on water after he heard the legend about a beautiful Tatar girl who was forcibly married to a Turkish ruler.
Even the birth of a child could not drown out the homesickness. It is noteworthy that Adamson not only developed the mermaid project, not only did the work on his own, but also paid the costs from his own money.
A sculpture in the shape of a girl with a child in her arms was installed in Miskhor in 1907.
In honor of the 150th anniversary of the end of the Crimean War, a monument was erected, which received the name "Stone of Reconciliation". In appearance, this roughly hewn stone, placed on a small pedestal, symbolizes the unification of peoples. The desire of people to live in peace and harmony is confirmed by the inscription on it: "In memory of those who died in the Crimean War, for lasting peace between their descendants."
Among the historical monuments of Crimea in terms of the number of visits, the leader is Vorontsov Palace, located in Alupka and representing a majestic building made in a knightly style.
A Livadia White Palace, which is located in the village of the same name, belonging to the Yalta region, attracts not only by the fact that at one time it was the summer residence of many Russian emperors, but also by the holding of the Crimean conference with the participation of heads of states such as the USA, USSR and Great Britain, in 1945 ...
This object was built in the style of the Renaissance.
The meeting of Churchill, Roosevelt, Stalin in Yalta in February 1945 is dedicated to bronze composition by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. The composition was created in 2005, but it was transferred to Crimea only in November 2014.
Many historical figures, whose fates are to some extent connected with Crimea, have memorial signs and monuments installed on the peninsula. So, in Evpatoria they opened monument to the last emperor Nicholas II, coinciding this event with the centenary of the last visit of the Russian tsar to the resort place.
Fountain-monument dedicated to M.I.Kutuzov, created on the Simferopol - Alushta highway, before turning to the village of Luchistoye.
Dedicated to the Great Patriotic War
In the area of the Simferopol - Alushta highway, partisans fought during the German occupation, in two and a half years they destroyed the enemy, disabled his equipment, but during the battles thousands of partisans and underground fighters were killed. In their memory, in memory of the heroic deed of ordinary people, a sculpture was installed in 1963 "Partisan cap".
The monument is presented in the form of a stone block with an inset of red marble, located obliquely. Partisans wore such a headdress; next to the monument there are two memorial plaques listing the names of the victims.
In Simferopol, both tourists and citizens know a monument to the T-34 tank - the liberator of the city. In the memorable unforgettable days of April 1944, the tankers who stormed the city came up with the idea to immortalize the liberator tank. In the first days after the liberation of the city, the car was put on a pedestal, and since then it has been in perpetual post.
Now the T-34 tank is located in the very center of the Victory Square, bouquets and flowers are laid on it on the days of celebrations.
Deserves special words monument to Sultan Amet Khan.
In the small town of Alupka in the Yalta district, a bust of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a military pilot, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, an outstanding son of the Tatar people Amet Khan Sultan was installed. During his service, he made 603 sorties, mastered about 100 aircraft, shot down 49 fascist aircraft.
After the end of the war, he was awarded several orders and awards and continued his flight service. In 1971, the Crimean died during test flights. And now in the homeland of the hero, in Alupka, a monument to the honorary citizen - Amet Khan Sultan has been erected.
Fancy
There are also unusual monuments on the Crimean peninsula. One of them is monument to the veteran trolleybus. It was installed in 2012 on the Simferopol - Alushta - Yalta highway. It is believed that this particular intercity transport has transported more than 20 million tourists and vacationers over the long years of its service.
There is also an interesting monument in the village of Morskoye. It was opened on September 23, 2011. This monument is dedicated to Viktor Tsoi and the Kino group. It was opened at the place where three young musicians came up with the legendary group a few decades ago. In the village, they still remember where Viktor Tsoi's tent stood: by the river, in the shade of luxurious poplars, where young musicians enjoyed music and the sounds of a guitar.
The youngest in age, but already popular monument - "Green men", or "Polite people". It was staged in Simferopol in 2015 and is dedicated to GRU units, paratroopers and marines who, during the days of the Crimean Spring, ensured peace and order in the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.
Both children and adults are actively attending "Glade of fairy tales" dedicated to literary characters. Not far from Yalta, right under the open sky, there are sculptures of heroes of fairy tales. The figures are made of different materials, the nature of the Crimea itself often creates them from snags and growths.
Some of the sculptures are located in a forest gorge. Outlandish plants complement the composition, and one gets the impression that he actually got into a fairy tale.
Speaking of literary heroes, one cannot fail to mention the touching monument "The lady with the dog and the gentleman with the beard." This cultural site affects the moral aspects of the past and present generations. Looking at the sculpture, you imagine the educated generation of the 90s of the 19th century, resting in Yalta. Or maybe it is Chekhov himself resting on the embankment in Yalta?
Christian shrines
The Crimean peninsula keeps unique Christian shrines from different eras. It is impossible to provide a description of all the holy places in a short article, but I would like to talk about monastery, which is called "Crimean miracle" a monument of spiritual culture - the Holy Dormition cave monastery in Bakhchisarai. It is surrounded by eleven medieval cave monasteries and temples located in pristine nature, on rocky cliffs, in the river tract. Ruins of ancient castles and fortress walls surround them.
Those wishing to visit this miracle come to these places every day.
Each city of Crimea is a place with a historical past, archaeological sites are very common. Chersonesus Tauric is one of the ancient sites. This is a real monument of antiquity. It is an archaeological reserve that has existed for thousands of years. It was once a city-state.
Visiting this ancient place, looking at ancient finds, wall arches, household items, you come into contact with the past, you imagine Prince Vladimir, who baptized Russia in 988 exactly here.
Geological
The Crimean Peninsula is a unique place. You will come across geological monuments at every step here. It will take more than one article to describe them in detail, but such wonderful places, known to everyone, cannot be silent.
The first one is Mount Bakatash, or, as they call it, frog mountain... Long-term weathering of limestone has drawn a bizarre pattern: a large frog crawls along the edge of the cliff.
An amazing attraction of Crimea is Ayu-Dag - Bear Mountain. The unique nature reserve on an area of 530 hectares rises high above the sea, its length is 2.5 kilometers.
To see all the beauties of Crimea, to learn its sights, architecture, to get acquainted with the monuments, you must definitely come to the peninsula.
