Crimea should not be perceived solely as a beach destination (although the beaches there are excellent). Not every southern region can boast of such a number of attractions as in Crimea. Indeed, the Russian nobles rested here, and lived not in the private sector, but in palaces with the appropriate furnishings. It is about the Crimean palaces, recommended for visiting in the first place, that will be discussed today.

Popular palaces

The most famous, perhaps, is Bakhchisarai (Khansky). He is as beautiful as he is original. Its oriental flavor captivates everyone who sees it. Perhaps it would be fair to call the Bakhchisarai Palace the pearl of the Crimea. Its construction began in the middle of the 16th century.

Now there is a functioning museum on its territory. The famous Bakhchisarai fountain - the fountain of tears is presented to the attention of visitors, it was he who was sung in the poem of the same name by A.S. Pushkin. You can also admire the Great Khan Mosque, the Divan Hall, the chambers of both the Khan himself and the harem, the Golden Cabinet.

To visit the Bakhchisarai Palace, you need to go, in fact, to Bakhchisarai, to Rechnaya Street, 133. The museum has its own website, which has both a schedule and a price for excursions for tourists.

The palace of the Emir of Bukhara is one of the most beautiful sights of Yalta. It was built at the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries, at the same time it was surrounded by a park. The emir himself called the palace "Dilkiso", which means "captivating" in Turkic. The architecture of the building is designed in the Moorish style, it was erected by the Yalta architect N.G. Tarasov. For the construction of the walls, the Kerch stone was used. The building has an asymmetrical composition, it is decorated with fine carvings, porticoes, loggias and terraces. Now there is a sanatorium inside the palace, so it is accessible for inspection exclusively from the outside.

To admire "Dilkiso", you need to go to Yalta, the desired place is located near the Embankment and Primorsky Park, on Sevastopolskaya Street.

The Livadia Palace was built for Nicholas II at the beginning of the 20th century architect N.P. Krasnov. The architecture of the palace belongs to the Italian style, the amount spent on its construction was fabulous at that time - about two million rubles. For the construction of the palace, Inkerman limestone was used, therefore it is white. Communications in the Livadia Palace at that time were the most modern. The palace is surrounded by a beautiful park with evergreens from all over the world, flower beds of stunning beauty and gazebos with benches. The Tsarskaya trail - the most famous path in the park, passing over the seashore - is still accessible for walks.

Livadia Palace is a functioning museum that conducts excursions for tourists. The rest rooms of the royal family, the halls in which the receptions were held, as well as the hall for the Yalta conference (February 4-11, 1945) are available for viewing. To get here, you need to go to Livadia, Baturina street, 44A. You can get there both by bus and by scheduled boat.

Princess Gagarina's castle stands on Cape Plaka, it is built in the Gothic style. The entrance in front of it is crowned with the inscription: "In ancient times - strength." By building the castle, the princess wanted to leave in the centuries the memory of her deceased husband and love for him.

During the construction of the castle, no money was spared either for materials or for finishing. It was built by the same architect N.P. Krasnov, who built the Livadia Palace. The construction was carried out with Italian marble, Venetian glass and German tiles. At the end of the construction, the princess died. And two decades later, in 1927, there was a strong earthquake. Half of the castle was destroyed. It had to be restored according to the existing description of the castle. Today, this building houses the Utyos sanatorium, surrounded by an old landscape park, and through it you can get to the Karasan botanical garden to the palace of the Raevsky princes.

To get there, you need to go to Big Alushta, to the Utyos village. From the village of Pushkino, you can walk to the palace, you can get there from the train station in Simferopol.

Karasan Palace is named after the name of the Persian province. It was built by the architect from Crimea K. Eshliman thanks to investments from the owner of the estate, M.M.Borodin, who was an army general. Construction took place in the 1830s, later the Raevskys became the owners of the estate. Today, a place has been found in the building for the Karasan sanatorium. The park located around the palace is considered the oldest in Crimea. Its area reaches 18 hectares, and more than 200 species of trees and shrubs grow on the territory. To get to the sanatorium, you need to get from Yalta to the village of Pushkino, and then walk.

Kichkine is a small palace located on the slope of the Ai-Todor cape on a rock. It is located at some distance from the villages of Gaspra and Kurpaty, or rather, between them. There are no excursions for tourists around the territory, but you can make them yourself, and since there are quite a few beaches there, and they are excellent, you can spend the whole day there. Now in Kichkine there is a hotel with the appropriate name, and in the other half of it there is a functioning museum, which is open to the public.

Translated from Tatar, Kichkine means "baby". The building received this name precisely because of its rather modest size. However, this does not negate its inherent luxury. The construction was completed in 1913, the construction was carried out by the order of D.K. Romanov by the architect N.G. Tarasov, who, due to the tight deadlines set by the customer, had to involve the Yalta architect L.N.Shapovalov in the work. So the deadlines were met.

To get to Kichkine, you need to drive a little more than a kilometer along the Alupkinskoye highway in the direction of Yalta.

Palace "Murad-Avur", which means "fulfillment of desires", was designed by the same N.P. Krasnov by order of N.N.Komstadius - a Russianized representative of the ancient Swedish family of nobles. The "Murad-Avur" was built in several stages - first, the construction of a three-storey stone wing was completed, and later - the palace itself. The construction was carried out in full accordance with the relief of the place, on the south side it is three-story, and on the north - two-story. In accordance with the wishes of the owner, there are no decorations on the facades, however, the furnishings inside were rich. Unfortunately, the Comstadius family did not have to enjoy the atmosphere for a long time, in 1921 the estate was nationalized. The head of the family died in 1917, and gradually all members of the Comstadius family passed away. Today there is a hotel in "Murad-Avur".

Little known places

Yusupov Palace in Koreiz created as a result of the restructuring of the "Pink House", which was owned by Princess Golitsyna. It happened in 1909. The building is very impressive and monumental, solid. We should talk not so much about restructuring as about the demolition and erection in its place of a completely different structure. One of the most memorable features of the palace is its stone lions guarding the staircase, park and grounds.

The Dulber castle can rightfully be called the eastern pearl of the Crimea. It belonged to the list of estates of Russian tsars, since the owner was the great-uncle of Nicholas II, Grand Duke Pyotr Nikolaevich. The construction was supervised by N.P. Krasnov, but the project was developed by the customer himself. It was quite difficult for the architect, because the relief on the site is complex, and the place is earthquake-prone, nevertheless he coped with the task, Dulber is still in place. The style of the palace is Moorish, but at the same time austere and simple. One of the most interesting features of Dyulber is the ornaments that adorn its walls.

Ancient buildings

The house of the architect Wegener is a very beautiful building, but abandoned, located next to the Mordvinovsky park. It is decorated with marble statues that would do honor to any castle. The balcony is decorated with the Masonic coat of arms. Unfortunately, today the state of the mansion is very neglected; some of the windows have modern plastic windows that spoil its appearance. However, the old window frames, parquet floors, fireplaces, tiles and carved wood panels are still in good condition in the mansion.

The same beautiful buildings include the mansion of Princess Baryatinskaya "Uch-Cham", which means "Three pines". Until 1918, the princess owned a mansion built by an unknown architect. Perhaps it was Wegener. After 1920, the mansion was nationalized, during the war it was used as a sanatorium for wounded soldiers. In 1951 it was reconstructed. Now there is a hotel in the building of the mansion.

The palace of Count Mordvinov was built not far from the Three Pines. Its architecture is similar to a Mediterranean villa. The construction was carried out under the leadership of the same Wegener. In 1927, Mordvinov's house came under the jurisdiction of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. Now it is put up for sale, but since its cost is extremely high - about 220 million rubles - no buyers have yet been found.

Another interesting building is the center for children and youth creativity, the former hospital of S.N. Vasiliev. This is a beautiful old building, although it has not been renovated for a long time. On the roof are two stone griffins, symbols of the peninsula - they are strong as lions and free as eagles. In the center of Yalta, you can see many more beautiful abandoned buildings, historical and cultural monuments.
