Crimea has always been famous for its sights, but the nature of this peninsula deserves special attention. Here you can find picturesque mountains, colorful sea bays, and unique waterfalls, one of which is the Silver Stream. Before visiting this beautiful Crimean waterfall and its surroundings, we recommend that you familiarize yourself in more detail with its location, as well as consider options for how to get to it in the best way.

A bit of history

Many years ago, the Crimean Gorge was littered with trees, branches and other vegetation that had never been ennobled, the place was quite abandoned. Over time, nature has created here a real dam of all the "improvised means", namely stones and all the greenery. The whole mass seemed to have cemented after decades, many branches began to be covered with calcite, and a very small stream - with moss.

And now, after many years, a so-called calcite cornice was formed from a small stream and abundantly growing moss, that is, the original view of the Silver Streams waterfall. According to the estimates of professionals, in 2014-15, its thickness reached 2 meters. Along the edges of the waterfall, small but full-fledged caves have formed, which can be visited today.

One can only endlessly wonder what miracles nature creates through time. Despite the fact that this waterfall is not the most popular in the world, locals love it very much, and visitors never refuse to visit it. It is also known from history that in the 19th century princely hunting grounds were located at the location of the waterfall.

Not far from the waterfall, you can also find a lake that was specially formed for raising fish in it.

Description

Silver Stream Falls is in the gorge of the river called the Small Canyon, located 3 km east of the Grand Canyon. The height above sea level is about 550 meters. The waterfall looks truly unique and majestic. From a huge stone covered with vegetation and moss, a waterfall flows in thin streams, the water of which pours into the sun.

There is also a grotto in which it is quite cold even in hot weather. Around there is a luxurious deciduous forest, where a huge number of trees sprout, including oaks, lindens, hazel, dogwood, beech and many others.

Here you can enjoy the cleanest air.

It is pleasant to look at the waterfall at any time of the year. It got the name "silver" because in the rays of the summer sun it shimmers and sparkles with silver. Springtime is also good here, as the abundant melting of snow increases the flow of water from the waterfall, which makes it even more impressive. In winter, you can admire the frozen waterfall, which looks like the purest crystal.

An interesting fact is that the famous poet Afanasy Fet wrote a poem about this place, inspired by the beauty of the waterfall, and therefore every tourist vacationing in Crimea is recommended to visit this local landmark.

The miracle of nature today

It is worth noting that the waterfall was especially picturesque only until 2016, it was in this year that changes took place due to severe frosts with the silver waterfall, it lost its original appearance due to the collapse of a tuff block. According to some experts, such destruction is not uncommon, and over time, nature still restores the original appearance of its unique structures. But now it may take several thousand years to restore its former appearance.

The fallen part obscures the magnificent view of the waterfall when approaching it, but the main view, of course, remains impressive. Despite such not the most pleasant events and changes, after the collapse, tourists did not visit this place less often. Such landslides in Crimea are not rare, this is due to regularly changing weather conditions, namely with constant mountain winds and rains, floods and severe winters.

How to get there?

The waterfall is not located in the most accessible area, and therefore, in order to get to it the fastest, it is best to choose comfortable shoes and clothes. Clothing should be suitable for hiking in the mountains. Getting to the waterfall will not be a big problem, because buses from many nearby towns and villages run to it. The main thing is to get to the village of Sokolinoe, from which it is only 4 km to the nearby forestry, where you can find guides to the desired place.

It is quite convenient to walk on foot, there is a trail.

The village of Sokolinoe is usually reached by the highway from Bakhchisarai - Yalta. You can also get to the waterfall by a rented or your own car, however, in order not to get lost, it is best to go by bus or with a guided tour.
