When choosing shower systems, you need to pay attention, first of all, to the products of leading companies. Hansgrohe is among them. But still, consumers need to know what is typical for them, and how to choose the right devices, what are their key features and types.

Brand info

The Hansgrohe brand was founded in 1901. It is based in Germany. The brand name comes from the full name of its creator. Then he went on a radical experiment, which was not appreciated by those around him. Moreover, even the family and ancestors of Hans Grohe reacted extremely badly to his departure from the usual tailoring trade. And yet their expectations were not met - in just 5 years the enterprise reached its full design capacity, and orders were received even from Prague.

Even after the death of the founder and even his sons, Hansgrohe continued to develop successfully. She applied more and more advanced developments in her products. Suffice it to say that in the mid-1930s the firm introduced a remote-controlled siphon to the market. To make it clearer, the same level of innovation today would be an increase in battery capacity by 50-100 times. In 1968, another original development was presented - a watering can with an option for adjusting the pressure.

In 1989, a shower and sauna cabin was launched on the market; it was also controlled by the remote control, allowing you to listen to music and use the aromatherapy option. In 2003, a huge "waterfall" watering can appeared, which gives a real pleasure when taking a shower. The system is also very economical.

One could go on listing the various developments for a long time, but that's enough to understand that Hansgrohe products really deserve attention.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of the German brand plumbing are associated with 3 promising technologies:

  • AirPower (enrichment of water with oxygen, which exactly reproduces the optimal natural proportions);
  • EcoSmart (reduction of water consumption by 60% while maintaining a consistently powerful pressure);
  • Select (using a special button directly on the watering can to switch modes).

It is also worth mentioning about:

  • variety of the lineup;
  • external attraction;
  • reliability of the structures being created;
  • the only obvious drawback is the likelihood of leaks after a few years (only with careless handling).

Device and principle of operation

Despite all their innovations, the description of Hansgrohe shower mixers does not differ much from the descriptions of similar devices from other manufacturers. Simply because it is almost impossible to come up with something completely new in this regard. The most modern design is with a photocell. A special sensor recognizes the situation when it is necessary to turn on the water, and if necessary, it will turn it off. Rather, it will give a command to the mechanical components responsible for shutting off the crane.

The valve mixer is arranged differently. Its delivery set includes:

  • outer case;
  • spout (the same hose);
  • a valve or several valves (allowing you to open and close the water manually);
  • crane axle boxes designed to regulate the flow rate.

An increasingly popular option is becoming a lever type mixer. There is such a set of components:

  • frame;
  • spout (aka gander);
  • ball-type cartridge or based on ceramic plates;
  • a handle that controls the pressure of water and its temperature;
  • a nut to help hold the cartridge inside the outer casing;
  • the cover of this body, which fixes all the components at once and helps to improve the appearance of the mixer.

But the variety of Hansgrohe products is not limited to the different types of mixers. This company is actively promoting shower systems, among which are:

  • classic hand showers;
  • apparatus with an upper stationary watering can;
  • complexes with lateral water supply;
  • sets of individual shower components;
  • modern shower panels.

Varieties and functions

Quite often use shower racks. They are placed on a wall, in a corner or in the center, depending on specific requirements. Shower racks are also mounted on the floor, on the wall, inside the wall or in the ceiling. Watering cans are stationary or not. Corner shower used mainly for small bathrooms.

Central type of racks demanded mainly for large premises. They can be placed exactly in the center of the wall, or with a slight shift to the left (right). Shower blocks in this version are placed separately and are not equipped with trays.

The center pillars can be used for the bathtub too, not just for the compact shower stall. But for obvious reasons, they are unsuitable in a typical apartment.

In the vast majority of cases, wall-mounted shower systems are used. They can be applied:

  • in the shower cabin;
  • in the shower box;
  • in an open shower.

Built-in shower systems are very popular. They are suitable even in small rooms where it is not possible to place full-scale plumbing. In some descriptions, another name is mentioned - a flush-mounted system. Such systems have been in demand for about 50 years. A typical built-in shower system contains:

  • hose;
  • mixer;
  • watering can.

The device of the spray nozzles determines whether a large or diffused stream will pour out of it. All components, except for the three named above, are hidden inside. Masking plumbing wiring and other details can significantly improve the appearance of the room. Besides, hidden parts are better protected from damage. And saving space is very important.

The concealed shower system can be used regardless of the specific design. However, they are very difficult:

  • adjustment;
  • repair;
  • even trivial cleaning of disguised parts.

Models of shower systems with a spout are used most often in bathtubs. But in shower cabins, a spout is simply not required. Moreover, it is extremely inconvenient and impractical. Top spout systems are most commonly used. This option is highly appreciated by both city dwellers and owners of elite suburban housing.

The advantages of this choice are:

  • small size;
  • practicality;
  • ease of switching modes;
  • a wide variety of design options;
  • abundance of complete sets.

Almost all decent shower systems equipped with a thermostat. Thanks to him, you can prevent a situation when suddenly very cold or too hot water flows. Thermostats can be built into mixers or located on the surface. In any case, the device is able to react to changes in the pressure of the water jet and compensate for it before people notice something.

You will have to pay more for a shower system with a thermostat. However, there is simply no other option for bathing young children. After all, a temperature drop, which will only irritate adults, can harm the health of babies.

Almost all thermostats, even mechanical ones, allow you to set the required temperature bar. It is worth considering that some models of such devices do not allow using a shower when there is no water in the "cold" or "hot" circuit.
