American jeans: branded jeans from America
The first jeans appeared in the middle of the 19th century. Their creator is considered to be the emigrant Levi Strauss, who sewed the first pair of comfortable work trousers from thick fabric.
A few years later, these pants were already massively popular, the style changed a little, and dense twill began to be used as a fabric.
The Levi’s brand remained a monopoly until the 1960s, when the Lee and Wrangler brands appeared. Since then, these three brands have enjoyed immense popularity not only in the United States, but all over the world.
American jeans differ from many of their counterparts in excellent quality, simple, laconic design, high wear resistance and fairly affordable cost, unlike some European brands

Made in U.S.A. or not?
Connoisseurs of true American quality would never trade branded jeans from the USA for jeans from other countries. But, if earlier the inscription "Made in U.S.A." was the guarantee of real American jeans, today this inscription can be found on clothes of the lowest quality. How to choose the original and not fall for a fake?
The fact is that if there is an inscription “Made in China” or some other country on jeans, this does not mean at all that jeans cannot be branded. They are simply produced in different countries, wherever it is convenient.
Representative offices of American companies are located in many countries of the world. Therefore, it’s not surprising that branded jeans have another country of origin in the “manufacturer” column - no. This does not mean that it is a fake. But the next chapter of our article will tell you how to distinguish a branded item from a cheaper analogue.
How to distinguish an original from a fake?
Levi's
All models of this brand are sewn from diagonal twill. The pattern characteristic of this material is clearly visible on models of any color and style.
The 501st jeans are the hardest to fake. It has a number of characteristic features:

- leather label;
- this model is not fastened with a zipper, but only with buttons;
- information label sewn to the inside seam of the left leg. The label contains the necessary information about the released batch, product care, etc.
All Levi’s jeans produced prior to 2013 feature the company's logo on the zipper pull. Models manufactured since 2013 do not have this logo. Double arch flag detailing the zipper.
Wrangler
Contrary to popular belief, Wrangler jeans are made not only from “broken twill”, but also from other fabrics with a diagonal pattern. All materials are dense and quite tough to the touch.
- A distinctive feature of these jeans is the stitching made from threads to match the main fabric.
- After the first wash, the color of the threads begins to slowly appear.
- Until recently, a special booklet was put into the pocket of some models.
- The jeans are finished with double stitching. One has the color of the material, the second is red.

- The rivets go through the material. This is done not so much for beauty as to give strength to the models.
- The zipper on branded jeans does not open on its own, even in a partially closed state.

- Men's jeans have 7 belt loops, women's - 5. Another number indicates a fake.
Selection Tips
Sometimes, choosing the model you like, it is difficult to understand the size indicated on the label. After all, the American size grid is different from the Russian one. In order not to get confused in the choice, you need to remember simple rules.
US size consists of two sizes - waist circumference and product length
All measurements are in inches. To determine the first size, divide your waist by 2.54 and round to the nearest table value. Sometimes a number of the following symbols are used on the label to determine a more accurate size:
- "Waist" - waist circumference;
- "Inseam" - length along the inner seam of the product;
- "Outseam" - the length of the entire product;
- "Hip" - the girth of the hips.
The range of American jeans is quite wide and varied.
Designations of some jeans models:
High-waist - high-waisted model;
Low-waist - model with a low waist;
Slim-fit - skin-tight model;
Loose-fit - straight, wide model;
Relaxed-fit - loose fit model.
