Jeans are sewn according to established standards, so they look less attractive on girls with an imperfect figure. Although there are separate collections for girls with a non-standard figure, this cannot completely solve the problem.

If the figure only slightly deviates from the generally accepted parameters, then you can buy your favorite jeans model and sew it a little. This process is simple enough that you can do it yourself at home.

Is it realistic to make one size or two smaller?

Over time, your favorite jeans lose their shape, stretch. But do not say goodbye to them, because at home you can reduce them by a size or even two.

To sew jeans on your own at home, you need to prepare a sewing machine, a centimeter, threads, needles, scissors and pins. Stock up on free time.

We sew locally

If the jeans look great on you, but are a little big at the waist, then the situation can be corrected by suturing them along the line of the back seam and along the waist.

If your favorite model has become a little loose, then it is worth stitching only along the side seams. To make a tapered bottom, it is worth stitching jeans along the inner seams.

At the waist

Many girls have wide hips and a thin waist, so any pair of jeans will be loose at the waist. To solve this problem, jeans should be sewn in one of two ways.

The first way is the simplest:

  • First you need to make several darts along the belt line.
  • Next, you need to carefully rip off a few centimeters of the belt.
  • Sew all darts carefully.
  • Cut off the extra centimeters at the belt, and then sew it back.
  • It is necessary to be extremely careful when creating a dart in the area of the buttocks, as the very long seams will tighten them.

The second method is more complicated, but of high quality:

  • First you need to unscrew the belt loop, which is located at the back in the center. In some models, it is necessary to eliminate three loops at once. If the branded label is located nearby, it should also be removed.
  • Carefully open the belt, but only ten centimeters to the left and right of the middle seam of the garment.
  • Then you need to pay attention to the step seam, and make its spacer eight or nine centimeters.
  • The remnants of the thread should be removed, and all seams should be well ironed.
  • The middle seam must be secured with pins on the front side to avoid possible misalignment. Next, transfer the fastening with pins to the wrong side and steam it with an iron.
  • Fold the legs together and draw a line at a slight angle about two centimeters apart.
  • The drawn line must be sewn and the edges of the fabric must be overcast.
  • Next, turn the jeans to the right side and make two lines in the center.
  • Go back to the wrong side to sew the crotch seam, and on the right side finish the double stitching.
  • The belt must be attached to the new waist size and cut off the extra centimeters, but remember about the allowances.
  • Next, the product must be folded in half, with the front sides inward, stitched and unfold before ironing.
  • Fasten the belt and the main part of the product with pins and sew the belt loop back.

In the hips

To reduce the size of the jeans at the hips, they should be sutured along the side seams.

To calculate the distance to be removed, you can use one of the following methods:

  • Turn the jeans over to the wrong side and put on. Use pins to mark the new seam.
  • Take pants that fit your figure, attach the ones you want to sew on to them and draw a line.

The process of reducing the volume of pants in the thighs occurs in several stages:

  • First you need to rip off the belt.
  • Next, rip the sides of the legs and sew them along the new seams.
  • Cut off excess material sentiment, and sweep the sides.
  • Sew on the belt.

If the jeans are loose in the hips and at the waist, then the belt should not be steamed. The trousers must be completely ripped open and carefully stitched to the new size.

For jeans made of thin denim, you can make darts on the sides, then the model will sit better on the figure.

Sewing a flare into a narrow model

Very often, some models of jeans are a thing of the past, and new styles come to replace them. More recently, every fashionista had flared jeans in her wardrobe, but now they are replaced by skinny models. Do not part with your favorite jeans, because they can be altered.

To sew jeans in your legs, you need to do the following:

  • Turn jeans inside out, and try on.
  • Use pins to mark the line for the new seam, but you need to take into account one centimeter, which will go to the shrinkage of the product after washing.
  • Jeans must be removed, laid out on a horizontal surface and ripped from the knee downwards.
  • Carefully make throwing seams along the line marked with pins, and put it on again for trying on.
  • Cut off extra centimeters of fabric.
  • On a sewing machine, make strong seams along the metal.
  • You can use a zigzag or overlock to process the edges.

Advice

  • Inexperienced needlewomen should not completely steam out the legs, since the crotch area is very difficult to sew correctly.
  • When choosing threads, you should give preference to threads for sewing jeans, although they can be replaced with ordinary ones.
  • All seams must be double stitched to ensure durability.
  • Do not rush to cut the threads. The securing seam must have stitches.
