Electric scooters on two large wheels are gaining immense popularity today. They are often purchased not only for adolescents and children, but also for adults. The two-wheeled electric scooter is a very convenient form of transportation. A wide range of models makes it possible to choose rechargeable, folding scooters. To choose a high-quality device, you need to correctly assess the characteristics and review of reviews about different types of segway scooters.

Main selection criteria

Before you start choosing a model, you need to find out which parameters you should pay special attention to. The most practical devices combine compact size and quite serious speed. There are criteria that experts call the main ones, there are additional nuances.

It is important first of all to make a choice according to the main parameters, and only then move on to the secondary ones.

The model is selected individually, taking into account the personal preferences of each customer.

Scooters with large wheels have a clear advantage over others. Despite the variety of diameters (the interval ranges from 3 to 14 inches), it is worth paying attention to the large diameter. This allows for soft movement, better shock absorption, such a device is easier to control. The only drawback is the more significant weight. Wheels over 8 inches are already considered quite large for a comfortable ride.

In addition to wheel size, the following criteria are important:

  • type of wheels;
  • battery;
  • the weight;
  • speed;
  • motor.

Wheel type

There are two main varieties:

  • inflatable or pneumatic;
  • molded rubber.

The advantage of the first type is that the damping is as comfortable as possible, all road irregularities are overcome without problems for the rider. The main disadvantage is that they can be damaged.The cast ones cannot be punctured, but they vibrate more, the ride on them is not too soft. When choosing, you should evaluate the place where you will ride:

  • if on the asphalt in the park, then you can safely choose the cast version;
  • if on relative off-road, pneumatic is optimal.

Battery

You can find scooters on sale with the following types of batteries:

  • lithium;
  • lead.

Experts advise paying attention to the lithium variety, since they are lighter, better in terms of parameters, have an excellent resource and a large capacity, unlike lead ones.

The optimal capacity for a scooter is 200 watts or more. The characteristic of the battery capacity is one of the most important criteria, it is comparable to the volume of a gas tank: the larger it is, the longer you can ride... If the manufacturer is silent about the size of the battery, it is better to refuse such a purchase. The specified maximum mileage cannot replace the capacity in any way, especially since it is very easy to overestimate it.

The mileage is calculated independently by dividing the capacity by 10... For example, a device with a specified capacity of 250 watts will travel 25 km. Additional factors can affect this: what road you are driving, at what speed, temperature, your weight. That's why the mileage figure is always conditionally approximate.

Motor and speed

Motors are:

  • chainattached by a chain or belt;
  • wheeled - placed inside the wheels.

The second option is preferable: they have a longer service life, more power, quieter operation, minimal maintenance, good tightness. Power ranges from 100 to 1000 watts. You shouldn't buy devices less than 350 watts.

The speed limit can be 10 or 8 km per hour. It is best to drive models at a speed of up to 30 km per hour; it is not recommended to develop a speed of more than 45 km. The optimal switching mode is manual type.

The weight

Another important criterion, especially since the models can weigh both 5 and 50 kg.

The lightest up to 8 kg and the lightest up to 12 kg are the most demanded category. Even a teenager can move them. But they have less charge, so you should pay attention to the capacity. The diameter of the wheels of such models is much smaller, which means that the damping is worse.

Additional criteria

After you have decided what basic parameters your scooter should have, analyze a number of additional:

  • the presence of splash wings will protect you from dirt in rainy weather;
  • spring or air suspension will provide a comfortable, soft ride;
  • the display and the built-in computer will allow you to control the speed, charge level, set the necessary settings;
  • a telescopic steering column helps to adjust the height of the steering wheel, this is especially true for people with small or, conversely, tall;
  • the folding handle makes it possible to place the device anywhere without taking up space - the handles can be unscrewed, rotated vertically or simply folded;
  • Front, rear and side lights make driving in the dark safe.
