How to make cuts in a T-shirt?
You have a favorite T-shirt. Or not, not so - you WAS a favorite T-shirt. You are tired of it, dirty, out of shape. It's a pity, you have to throw it away or put it on rags. Or maybe try to give her a new life? A little imagination and perseverance - and you HAVE your favorite T-shirt again.
You will need:
The template you will use to make cuts or cuts (or a clear idea of what you are going to do).
Sharp scissors with pointed ends or a utility knife.
A piece of fiberboard or plastic the size of your T-shirt.
Hook or knitting needles if you want braided cuts;
Decor optional.
You can first practice "on cats", that is, on something completely unnecessary, or you can take the risk and immediately cut the T-shirt itself.
The options for the cuts can be roughly divided:
Local:
- in the collar area (semicircular cuts are suitable), while the elastic can be cut off;
- on the sleeves (vertical slits look stylish);
- on the back and front (at different heights);
- side (you can pick up a great option with a sewn-on fabric with horizontal cuts, made from the same T-shirt or with sewn lace).
Towards:
- vertical;
- horizontal;
- diagonal;
- semicircular;
- you can even cut out patterns if you are sure that they will look good on this particular T-shirt
By form:
- flat stripes;
- "laces";
- intertwined, for example, in the form of braids.
Sequencing:
Decide on the location and shape of your incision.
"Put" the T-shirt on a flat surface (chipboard, board, plastic, plexiglass) so that the cuts are made only on one side of the T-shirt without damaging the other.
Draw the cut lines with a small or bar of soap.
Now the worst thing - we cut! Make two cuts one under the other. Try to avoid chipping.
Using your thumb and forefinger, grasp the opposite base of the incision and pull the fabric slightly to the sides. As a result, when you release the fabric, the edges of the cut will curl up and you will not get flat stripes, but like “laces”.
Do this with each cut strip, stretching it in the direction in which you cut the fabric - if you cut it horizontally, then pull in the horizontal direction, in the case of a vertical cut - in the vertical direction.
Further, at your request, you can already put on your new T-shirt and wear it, or you can also intertwine the stripes with a crochet hook.
If you want, decorate with feathers, rhinestones, beads. The main thing is not to overdo it.
Note: do not make too many cuts, the naked body effect in this version is not very beautiful, not to mention that it is not always appropriate.
Interesting ideas for cuts on a T-shirt:
Vertical slits at the bottom of the T-shirt or at the bottom of the sleeves. The result is a fringe, which will look especially good if you tie the tip of each strip with the most ordinary knot and decorate with a bead.
Dissected ornament. Stencil a pattern onto the fabric, then cut the pattern into small notches. The result looks especially impressive on light-colored items.
Ribs. Can be placed on your back or on your stomach, depending on your figure and your courage. Make them wide at the top and tapering at the bottom - this will add originality to the image.
Make several horizontal cuts from bottom to top every 4-5 cm in the side of the T-shirt, thread a bright ribbon through them and tie it on the shoulder with a beautiful bow - your new quite glamorous thing is not even quite a T-shirt.
A very interesting option is obtained if several vertical cuts are made to the left and right of the neckline, and the resulting strips are fastened to each other with staggered bartacks.
If your T-shirt is already quite stretched downwards, then by making and intertwining vertical cuts at the bottom of it, you can not only narrow the bottom of the stretched T-shirt, but also imitate the hippie style.
The option of cutouts on a T-shirt, under which or on which lace or other fabric is sewn, looks very impressive.
