Gel polish has become an excellent opportunity to diversify the nail design, but it often turns out that after using the product, a woman needs to start her daily activities, which leads to an unpleasant result. Whether it is necessary to avoid contact with water and for how long, we will consider in this article.

Why gel polish?

This type of nail coating has many advantages, which is why women are increasingly choosing it. If the manicure is done according to the rules, and after that the nails did not come into contact with water, then the woman will be pleased with the following results:

  • the ability to not monitor the condition of the hands for a long time, since the gel polish can last for several weeks without losing its attractiveness;
  • the ability to increase the length of the nail quickly and easily;
  • saving time during the procedure for creating a manicure, because the composition dries up in just a few minutes;
  • ease of removal from the nail plate without harming it;
  • the ability to change the color at any time using a simple varnish, which is then removed from the nail without problems and damage for the main design;
  • lack of a smell typical for acrylic nails.

Can I wet it?

Some manicure designers say that it is enough to refrain from contact with water for several hours in order to maintain a manicure. Others recommend that you save your hands much more time if you want the gel polish to last longer. This applies not only to contact with hot, but also cold water.

It is important not to wet your nails and not to do baths before the coating is applied to the nail plate. The grip will only be good if the hands are completely dry.

If the requirement is not met, then as a result, after a week you can observe the exfoliation of the gel polish. For the same purpose, dehydrators are used, which are extremely necessary for women who are prone to constant moisture in their hands.

Already after the topcoat has dried, the minimum time during which contact with water must be avoided is six hours. This applies not only to direct contact, but also to wearing gloves, since hands in them inevitably sweat.

The need to protect hands is associated with a long process of polymerization of the composition applied to the nail plate. Even after drying, there is a subsequent shrinkage of the coating on the nail, its adhesion to the surface, addiction to keratin. If the requirement is violated, microcracks appear, into which moisture then penetrates, peeling areas appear, you have to do a manicure again. There can be no question of any homework, especially with the use of chemical cleaning agents.

It is worth saying that gel polish wins in comparison with the usual one, but it must be applied correctly in order to achieve the desired effect.

What shouldn't be done for several days?

Specialists in the field of nail design remind that it is necessary not only not to wet your hands for six hours after the final stage, but also to abandon some other procedures. Typical mistakes are made by women, to whom the master, for his own benefit, does not speak about prohibitions. Within three days, it is strictly forbidden to wash by hand or wash dishes for a long time. Despite the fact that it is not so easy to deform the coating, prolonged exposure to water of the hands is detrimental to the design.

It is better to postpone cleaning the house for a few days, this is the only way to save on manicure and change the design at the time indicated by the specialist, and not earlier.

It is strictly forbidden to visit a sauna or a bath after building up, since the nails take on the high temperature in the steam room, and the gel polish heats up, the drops harm it, the integrity of the design deteriorates. If you do not follow the advice, the manicure will quickly deteriorate.

It is categorically impossible to cut the nails after the gel polish has been applied, since the master seals the edge so that moisture does not penetrate under the coating. Thanks to this additional work, the nail plate retains its attractiveness better, if the film is broken, the enlarged part suffers, it begins to flake off, you can simply break the nail.

In addition, after a manicure, it is advisable not to contact with water, not to go to the bathhouse, it is worth excluding interaction with hair dye, since it can convey a shade to the gel polish, which will then be impossible to get rid of. Even if staining with gloves, the nails are exposed to sweat and talcum powder inside.

The quality of the finish coat after application is also badly affected by direct sunlight. Bright shades fade, so you should wait until the end of the polymerization process, and only then go to the beach if you don't want to overpay in the end. If you follow these rules, you can enjoy beautiful designs for up to three weeks.

You will see the technology for applying gel polish in the next video.
