Bakhchisarai in Crimea is a unique vacation spot that allows every tourist to find their own piece of paradise with beautiful views and sights. Among its obvious advantages are the unique mild climate, clean coastline, and comfortable temperature conditions. It is quite easy to find out where the city is on the map of the peninsula - it is located in the Churuk-Su river valley, surrounded by majestic mountain ranges.

The sea is quite far from here, but after studying the description of the beaches and making the right choice of hotel, you can easily find a great place to stay.

Description

The city of Bakhchisarai on the map of the Crimea peninsula remains one of the largest regional centers, but there were much more glorious times in its history. It was here that the capital of the Crimean Khanate was once located, and the name itself means "garden-palace".

The geographical position of the city - on the inner part of the mountain range, in the river valley made it possible to protect it from the steppe winds and floods. The formation of the architectural appearance of the city, where the traditions of different cultures and eras are combined, is also unique. Bakhchisarai was formed in 1532, and since then its borders have remained practically unchanged.

Today there are 4 main districts in the city.

  • Old city. Located directly in the river valley, it has a special architecture and layout characteristic of the Middle Ages. Its streets are narrow, curved, adorn the objects of low-rise buildings, typical for the Crimean Tatar people.
  • New town. Here are the residential blocks of the Soviet era.Multi-storey buildings were built mainly according to the "Khrushchev" projects, and do not differ in variety, but there are also interesting architectural solutions.
  • Kizyakova dacha - formerly Eski-Yurt or Podgorodnee settlement, refers to the territories that became part of Bakhchisarai after 1945. The territory of the district is dominated by private buildings; there is a popular highway and railway infrastructure nearby.
  • New quarters. These include the development that arose after 1990, during the period of the mass return of the Crimean Tatars. The buildings here are distinguished by a regular layout and consist mainly of individual housing stock objects. Microdistricts are located locally, in different parts of the city.

    You can get to the sea from Bakhchisarai by regular route transport. The nearest beaches are located in its vicinity - in Lyubimovka, Vilino, Beregovoye, Peschaniy. The communication has also been established on internal roads.

    You can go to the Khan's Palace or Chufut-Kale, visit the Holy Dormition Monastery, or quickly get to the station in a short time at no extra cost.

    Climate

    Unlike the traditional climate of the Crimean resorts, Bakhchisaray pleases vacationers with pleasant coolness. Even in the hottest July, the air temperature does not rise too high, the average July figures rarely exceed + 21-22 degrees. The nights are very cool - for romantic walks it is better to stock up on warm clothes. In the winter months, the weather becomes quite cold at all - the beginning of the tourist season here is considered to be mid-April.

    Due to the surrounding of mountain ranges, the space of Bakhchisarai is protected from sharp gusts of wind. Here you can relax and watch the spring awakening of nature or enjoy excursions without risking sunstroke. The swimming season in the Bakhchisarai region opens in May and ends in October.

    Where to stay?

    As in any tourist city, in Bakhchisarai, the problem of tourists' accommodation is always quite acute. The simplest solution seems to be the choice of housing in the private sector - here you can find attractive priced offers starting from 800 rubles and more for renting a room per person. If possible, you should pay attention to pre-booking - here you can study the reviews of previous tenants.

    In addition, there are several hotels of different classes on the territory of Bakhchisarai. In the center of the city there is "Bakhitgul" with its own restaurant, cafe, hookah, swimming pool.

    A more budget solution is hotels outside the tourist center or guest houses. Another important point is that outdoor enthusiasts can choose to stay at a camp site according to their interests, where the whole range of necessary services is already provided. But living conditions at such facilities are often quite spartan.

    The best beaches

    There are no direct access to the sea on the territory of Bakhchisarai, but local residents do not suffer from the lack of beaches. You can swim and sunbathe here without leaving the city, just choose the right place. Some of the most popular beach holiday destinations include:

    • Egizoba gully on the Bakhchisarai reservoir - the reservoir created for irrigation is quite clean, surrounded by a picturesque coastal zone;
    • Artificial Mars Lake - white sand and a well-maintained coastline with cafes and attractions make it a place of pilgrimage for tourists;
    • mountain lake with Solnechnoselye - near Bakhchisarai you can swim and sunbathe, admiring the mountain landscapes.

      In the corner village there are beaches, popular among locals and tourists, with a gently sloping sandy bottom. There are plenty of wild coastal areas for recreation - near Cape Kremenchik, Tyubek, Lukull. But the central sand and pebble beach with sun loungers, attractions, cafes and parking is valued higher.

      Sandy is another local tourist Mecca for sunbathers. One of the best beaches here belongs to the Chernomorets sanatorium, in addition, there are communal - public recreation areas. For young people it will be interesting to visit "Buddha Beach", with a paid entrance and clean coast, as well as fun parties.

      In Peschaniy there is also "Rainbow" - a generally recognized resting place for nudists. There are no more such places on the coast of the Bakhchisarai region.

      sights

      Among the sights of Bakhchisarai, the heritage of the past and the achievements of the present are surprisingly intertwined. Here, ancient ramparts and tombs of the rulers of the Crimean Khanate, amazing palaces and memorials of outstanding writers of the recent past are harmoniously combined with each other. When drawing up a tourist route on your own, you should try to cover at least part of this splendor.

      Mausoleum of Haji Giray and Zinjirli Madrasah

      The burial place of the first of the Girey dynasty, Khadzhi-Girey, is located on the territory of Staroselya. The memorial structure built in 1501 is a family tomb, where the son of the great ruler later rested. Not far from the mausoleum is one of the most famous local religious schools - Zinjirli Madrasah. It was erected during the life of Hadji Girey in 1500 and was distinguished by the fact that a chain was suspended above its entrance, forcing everyone entering to bow their head when visiting the institution.

      Not being distinguished by the splendor and pomp of design, the building, erected in the traditions of the Middle Ages, does not even have window openings. Its status is indicated only by a stone slab on the eastern façade.

      Grave and house-museum of I. Gasprinsky

      On the territory of Zinjirli Madrasah there is a burial place of one of the most prominent inhabitants of Bakhchisarai - Ismail Gasprinsky. Khan's Palace and the Fountain of Tears

      The luxurious Bakhchisarai Palace is an architectural monument that recreates the appearance of the original building of the 16th century, destroyed by a fire in 1736. Thanks to the preserved drawings, the object was completely restored, and today it is part of the protected area. The most ancient architectural monuments preserved here are considered to be the Demir-Kapu gate or the Aleviz portal, created by the hands of the best Italian masters. It is interesting that they were transferred to Bakhchisarai from another palace - Ashlama-Saray.

The entrance to it is preceded by the Magzub fountain, intended for ritual ablutions. The harem complex of the Khan's palace is also unique in its own way. There is a magnificent arched portal with unique oriental ornaments. The interior decoration is complemented by authentic pieces of furniture, carpets, dishes. On the territory of 2.5 hectares, there are 53 miniatures on a scale of 1 to 25. In addition, the park has well thought out other entertainments that are not related to the main exposition.

The Holy Dormition Monastery is located inside the rock, and the Hodegetria icon is considered the main shrine of the monastery.The countdown of the modern history of this place began in 1993. Within its walls there is also a cemetery for soldiers who died in the Crimean War.

      Here, on the palace grounds, there is the famous Bakhchisarai fountain praised by Pushkin. True, the local population prefers to call it differently. The Fountain of Tears was built in memory of the death of the beloved wife of Khan Gerai. The inconsolable spouse erected a magnificent white-stone structure, which still looks very impressive today.
