Black Sea in Crimea: weather and rest
On the Black Sea coast of Russia there are many resort places designed for both active and relaxing holidays. One of these is the village of Chernomorskoye, located on the Crimean peninsula.
Description
On the western coast of Crimea, the Tarkhankut Peninsula juts out into the sea, where the village is located. Black Sea. So far, this is not the most popular place among tourists, since not everyone has yet become acquainted with its unique nature and beaches. The sea in the village is not very deep and with a gentle relief. It warms up well in spring, and tourists open the swimming season in April. The beach here is sandy-shell, it is pleasant to wander along it barefoot or lie on a beach mat, and there are more sunny days in this place than in Sochi or Yalta. The infrastructure of this small village with a population of about 12,000 is adapted to the influx of tourists. Studying the road map of the Crimean peninsula, it is easy to calculate that the distance from the Simferopol airport, which connects Crimea with mainland Russia, to the Black Sea is 140 kilometers.
It can be overcome by bus, minibus or taxi.
History of origin
In the 4th century BC, the Ionian Greeks arrived on the coast of Taurida in search of uninhabited territory. The beauty of the Tarkhankut Peninsula, its bays and fresh coastal lakes attracted their attention. They founded their settlement in the bay, which they called the Beautiful Harbor. To protect it, they erected a fortress wall, fencing off four hectares of land, and decorated it with many towers.
The towers defended the town from the attacks of the Dorians, Achaeans and Aeolians.
Planning to live here happily ever after, the Greeks paved the streets with slabs, built dwelling houses, granaries, wineries and press-presses in the rocks. A lighthouse was built on the shore. In case of a siege, a warehouse with provisions was set up in the basement. Above was a real command post.
The inhabitants of the settlement were allocated land plots - khora, located parallel to the coastline.
In the III century BC, the regular raids of the Scythians forced the Greeks to strengthen the existing structures and build a new line of defense near the bay itself. In II BC, the city finally came under the rule of the Scythians. Then, replacing each other, the Roxolans and the Huns ruled here. By the 1st century AD, the Sarmatians invading from the northern steppes destroyed this city. The greatness of the bay faded, and centuries later its surroundings were mastered by the Tatars.
Then it was called Ak-Mosque and was under the protectorate of the Crimean Khanate.
After the Crimean Peninsula became part of the Russian Empire, these lands became the property of Count Voinovich. After 1823, Count Vorontsov began to buy up land for the development of vineyards and tobacco plantations. He built a marina, hospitals, and the church of St. Zakhara and Elizabeth. Then, in the 40s of the last century, the deportation of the Crimean Tatars broke out. At the same time, the village was renamed Chernomorskoe.
Weather
Black Sea has a unique climate. Located on Tarkhankut, which juts deep into the sea, the village is bathed in sea breezes that act as a natural air conditioner. They change direction twice a day, so the heat in summer is easier to tolerate. A small number of transport, sparsely populated and the absence of industrial enterprises make the air here clean and spicy. This wellness air cocktail contains ions of bromine, iodine and other trace elements.
The sun shines here 241 days a year, and summer rains are rare and short-lived. The air in June warms up to + 22 ° С, and by the end of summer it reaches + 28 ° С. This is facilitated by the features of the coastline and the relief of the seabed. The beach season starts in May and lasts until October. The climate is influenced by the sea - absorbing the sun in summer, it generously shares it in autumn and winter.
It cools down only by March, so the spring is later here than in the interior.
The weather in winter is quite unpredictable. Suddenly, frost can hit as low as -20 ° C, and if the wind blows from the sea, which often happens, people have a hard time.
True, in recent years this has rarely happened.
Summer is also full of surprises. The heat can reach + 40 ° С, but if the north or north-west wind blows, it carries away the heated layers of water far into the sea, and the cold ones beat down to the shore.
Sometimes the drop in sea water temperature is about 5-7 °.
How to get there?
It is believed that today it is more comfortable to get to Crimea by plane, especially from large cities of Russia. From Moscow or St. Petersburg, a 3-hour flight to Simferopol airport, and from Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and other nearby cities - about an hour.
At the same time, the cost of the flight varies from 6 thousand rubles round trip, depending on the season and time of purchase of tickets.
From cities located farther than Central Russia and the North Caucasus, direct flights are quite expensive. It is more rational to calculate the budget based on the flight to Krasnodar and Anapa, and then by bus to get to the resorts of Crimea.
This is less comfortable, but with significant cost savings it can be justified.
You can get to the cities of southern Russia by train, and from there to the Crimean resorts by bus. In this case, a single ticket is purchased, including railway tickets to the southern cities and a bus ticket to the Crimean health resorts.
The advantage of such a trip is the connection of all flights in time. But there is also a drawback - the crush in the queue on the bus and the possible loss of luggage.Car owners can reach the peninsula via the new Crimean bridge and then drive along the coast, stopping for sightseeing and swimming.
The distance in a straight line from Simferopol to Chernomorskoye is 78 kilometers, and on the road - 144. By bus, this distance can be covered in 2 hours 50 minutes, and by car - in 2 hours 30 minutes. From the city's airport you need to get to the train station. You can take a trolleybus, minibus or taxi. Simferopol bus station is located opposite the station.
Regular buses leave from there to any town and village, including the Black Sea.
If you wait a long time for a direct bus flight, you can first get to Evpatoria, and then change to a direct flight to Black Sea. In order to hire a taxi, it is advisable to call an officially registered driver by phone.
Taxi drivers offering services at the station will charge 3 times more than the usual cost, counting on tourist fatigue.
Where to stay?
The village has a large selection of guest houses, mini-hotels, the private sector, and if you like camping romance, you can stay in a camping tent. The prices here are more democratic in comparison with other resorts, and there are few tourists.
Many people prefer the private sector, where housing prices are the lowest and start at 300 rubles per day.
More comfortable rooms in guest houses. One-room apartments cost up to 2500 rubles per day. For a house of several rooms with conveniences without owners, they ask 5000 rubles. All offered rooms, apartments and houses have the necessary amenities, but no meals.

sights
In 1824, the land near Ak-Mechetskaya harbor, along with several villages, was bought by the Governor-General of Novorossiya, Count Vorontsov. He was a believer, so he decided to build a church here, ordering its project to the architect Toricelli. Then in Europe there was a fashion for Gothic, so the order was made in a pseudo-Gothic style. So the church of Saints Elizabeth and Zechariah with a high bell tower appeared in the village, which served not only for its direct purpose, but also was a navigational sign.
It is still in effect, but needs restoration.
An open-air museum-reserve begins near the beach of the Narrow Bay. These are the ruins of the ancient city of Kalos Limen. The stonework of the citadel, which has survived to this day, shows its power.
It is noteworthy that already at that time a water supply and sewerage system was installed in the fortress.
The memory of the governor Vorontsov is kept not only by the church in the village, but also by the park named after him by Vorontsov. It is located on the eastern outskirts of the modern village on the site of a green zone, which has been partially preserved from ancient times. The count was very fond of his settlement and wanted to bring its status to the county town. He ordered to bring tree seedlings from England, Italy and Greece to the garden. It is decorated in the fashionable style of the English landscape at that time, as close as possible to nature. The trees planted under the graph have survived to this day. Oaks and walnuts planted two centuries ago in two girths are very rare for the steppe Crimea. Today the park does not have the status of a nature conservation area. The former splendor and grooming are a thing of the past.
Locals call it the Bolshevik Garden.
The local local history museum contains all the treasures found during excavations of ancient cities and Scythian burial mounds.
These are graceful vessels, jewelry, weapons and a plate with Scythian inscriptions.
Not far from the village there are interesting places worth visiting.
- The tract in the Bolshoi Kastel gully, where rare plants and a huge colony of wild rabbits have been preserved.
- Cape Tarkhankut itself and the lighthouse on it, which is located two kilometers from the village. The height of the lighthouse is 42 meters. The snow-white limestone for its construction was brought from Inkerman in 1816.
- The estate of the official Popov, who served with Potemkin, the governor of Tavria. The building, erected in the 19th century by the grandson of an official, includes a park with spruces and plants brought from different countries, and an orchard. At present it has been transferred to the Solnechnaya Dolina sanatorium.
- There is a small healing mud deposit near the village port. It is similar to the Saki mud - silt, sulphide. Here you can use it for free for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, skin, genitourinary, musculoskeletal diseases, diseases of the nervous system, central and peripheral. The mud is kept on the body for no more than 15 minutes and is not applied to the heart area. It is recommended to wash it off by rinsing in the sea, not in the shower. With proper application, the therapeutic effect lasts a day. Before using it, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
Entertainment and recreation
The village itself is located in the Uzkaya Bay on the shore of the Karkinitsky Bay, the coastline of which stretches for 30 kilometers. Families with children vacationing in the Black Sea prefer the Central Beach with white sand and an admixture of shell rock. It is pleasant to walk on it barefoot.
The beach is spacious and wide, although in some places it is limited by parapets, it is also equipped with awnings, sun loungers, showers, a sanitary area and a rescue station.
There is a pier for boats and water attractions, a playground for sports games. The entry into the water is gentle, the depth increases gradually. A small bay protects from winds and storm waves.
The sea here is clear, but sometimes it brings out algae, which turns the water green. In addition to algae, jellyfish appear in the water area in summer.
The embankment of the village flows into the city beach. It houses an amusement park, an aquarium, a Ferris wheel and a children's play complex "Kinder Club".
Lovers of communication with dolphins can go to the dolphinarium in Bolshoy Atlesha, and fans of speed will find a kart track in the village of Mezhvodnoye.
Romantics, lovers of meditation and extreme sports have chosen unequipped beaches in nearby coves. Rocky and steep coastline alternates with sandy and gently sloping areas, which enlivens the surrounding landscape. The resort offers recreation and entertainment, as well as cultural and educational. Incendiary night dances in clubs or on the beach, sailing on the sea, tasting local cuisine alternate with visits to local attractions, as well as in nearby towns and villages.
Those who wish can take a horse or walking tour of Dzhangul or independently explore the nearby bays. Boat trips along Cape Tarkhankut are popular. It can be flown by helicopter.
Kitesurfing is popular in Yarylgachskaya Bay or Olenevka.
The local diving center is considered the best on the Crimean peninsula. A dive into the Leaders' Alley Museum, located 100 meters from the shore of the Bolshoi Atlesh tract at a depth of 12 meters, will be remembered by the contemplation of the monument to Lenin and the busts of his associates, as well as one of the creators of the Communist Manifesto and the main critic of the capitalist economic system Karl Marx. There are also busts of cultural figures in the museum: Vysotsky, Blok, Tchaikovsky.
In total, the underwater halls contain about 50 exhibits.
Divers are also happy to examine the ship Tsarevich Alexei, which sank in 1916. The hull and all the interior of the ship are well preserved.
The dive site is 5 kilometers away from the village.
The village is surrounded by various bays with wild beaches, which are in demand by tourists in cars. You can go to the Bakalskaya Spit, a kind of nature reserve, considered a landscape park with a beach 6 kilometers long. Its zest lies in the flow that washes it. Here it is possible to experience two elements at the same time - a very cold and calm sea or a stormy and warm one.
To do this, you just need to cross the bay, moving from one edge to the other.
There is a charge to get to this volatile beach, but free of charge during off-peak seasons. The sea shrinks the shore by washing away the sand. The braid is "losing weight" and may disappear in the near future. For just 200 rubles, you can put up your own tent here in the campsite. The danger here is represented only by hordes of mosquitoes that besiege vacationers at dusk.
There are no trees or sun canopies on this beach, so tourists themselves take care of the shade.
There is also a Dolphin camping site with a convenient beach and a place for cooking. If you don't want to stock up on food, you can eat at a local cafe. Accommodation offers wooden houses with shower and toilet. On the rocky shore is the Ozhinnaya or Ezhevichnaya bay. This berry once grew in abundance in these places. The water here is clean and warm, and the beach is designed for camping.
This impromptu picnic is far from settlements, where no one will disturb and there is not even a mobile connection.
Interesting is the uncrowded Karamysh Bay with a clean beach, not far from which there is a nudist beach behind the hills. There are only rocks around. They protect from cold winds, and swim here even in a storm. Tourists themselves take care of the cleanliness of the shore.
Cellular communication is also missing.
The Bolshoi Kastel nature reserve keeps relict plants. A large colony of wild rabbits lives here. Vacationers live here in a town erected from tents. Conveniences are lacking, as well as firewood, which must be taken with you. There is water in the well, but you cannot drink it raw. Parts of the historic estate have been preserved on the territory.
To call on a mobile, you need to climb to a height.
The transfer point for migratory birds of the whole planet is the Swan Islands, which consists of 6 campsites equipped with birds. There are flamingos and pelicans, gulls and cormorants, a total of 265 bird species.
More than 25 species of birds live here permanently.
On the shore of the Bay Beautiful harbor, or Kipchak, vacationers, motorists, camp tents. There is drinking water and grocery stores, but there are no umbrellas, awnings or shade, firewood must also be stored by ourselves. Tourists carry out garbage collection. Nearby there is a mullet factory, where you can buy fish, and a cafe.
Rapans and mussels are caught near the rocks.
The Belyaus spit stretches 20 kilometers from the village, 10 km long, which is the historical and cultural heritage of the entire peninsula. Here, the inhabitants of Chersonesos once founded a settlement and cultivated grain and vegetables. Everything grown was sold in their hometown. Today, only architectural islets of masonry have survived from the former fortress.
Historians suggest that she showed the way to sailors.
The beach line is divided into well-maintained and non-improved parts. The big advantage of a well-equipped beach is the ability to charge electronics on poles with sockets that are scattered along the road. There are toilets, washbasins, drinking water sources and wooden houses for living. Snow-white clean sand and warm water, smooth entry into the sea, in places with shallows, attracts people here.
Trees and sheds provide protection from the heat.
The wild part of the beach cannot offer conveniences. There are no sheds here, there are only rare trees. Shops are located 2 kilometers away. Hordes of mosquitoes at dusk on both beaches bother vacationers. In the afternoon, in addition to swimming, you can go fishing or go spearfishing.
If these activities do not appeal to you, you can go snorkelling.
Here, right on the shore is the Viking hotel. It looks like a medieval castle and is striking in its beauty. The building fits well into the local landscape and makes you want to arrange a photo session.
Vacationers reviews
Tourists are advised to stay in the Black Sea for people who love a beach holiday away from the bustle of the city. The village is located more than 3 hours from the airport, which should be taken into account when traveling with children.
Adherents of long sea walks along the coast, lovers of contemplation of natural landscapes and picturesque rocks will also like such a vacation.
Vacationers thirsty for entertainment and nightclubs complain about the mediocrity and monotony of rest in the Black Sea. Some are unhappy with the crowded city beach and the occasional cold wind raising a small sandstorm. The beach itself in the steppe zone is also not admirable, although it is clean and well-groomed.
Often the sea brings algae, and behind them corner jellyfish appear, which burn.
There is a shortage of pharmacy points, so medicines must be taken from home. Complaints are caused by the high cost of products and essential goods in local shops and the lack of retail chains with more competitive prices.
In large stores, prices are twice as high as in Moscow, in small stores - three times.
Pleasing asphalt roads with wide comfortable sidewalks, a lot of greenery and cleanliness, but the presence of destroyed and empty buildings causes sadness.
Outdoor enthusiasts are advised to explore the surroundings both in a group and on their own in order to experience the local flavor. It is highly recommended to visit Tarhankut,
Big and Small Atlesh, Cup of love and enjoy these wild and pristine landscapes.
