Description of the city

Sevastopol is a subject of the Russian Federation. To find it on the map, you need to look at the Black Sea, in its northern part. The town is located near Simferopol, on the Crimean peninsula, from where it is easy to get to it through Bakhchisarai. Due to the unusualness and remoteness of the city, talks about the belonging of Sevastopol to one country or another are still ongoing.

Everything that is on the territory of Sevastopol is in one way or another connected with military history. The city is a little over 250 years old, but during this time it was completely destroyed twice. The first wave of destruction swept in 1855, then only a dozen buildings remained from Sevastopol. The second happened in 1941.

The date of the foundation stone of the city is considered to be 1784, with the issuance of the decree of Empress Catherine. The city rests on the banks of the Heraclean (Crimean) Peninsula, cut by a large number of bays, which are former river valleys. The longest region is Severnaya Bay, over 9 km long. The city's railway station is located on the South Bay. On the way of the train to the terminal station, you can admire the coast of the Sevastopol Bay.

At the beginning of its existence, the city was divided into 3 zones: Central, Ship, North sides. In the last parts, the settlement of the common people took place. This location is currently called Central Hill. Today Sevastopol is nicknamed the open-type museum. The most popular attractions are: Panorama, Chersonesos, Sapun Gora and others.
