Description

This tract is a landslide coast located at Cape Tarkhankut (western part of Crimea). This place has not yet lost its beauty, as it is located far from the main tourist attractions of the peninsula. Since 2009, Dzhangul has been annexed to the Beautiful Harbor National Park.

Dzhangul is located just a few kilometers from Olenevka. The trail leading to this place passes right behind the village. Any transport can easily pass through it.

Dzhangul is similar to the coastal mountainous areas of Crimea. Landslide processes in this place are actively continuing at the present time. This nature reserve is full of large gullies, on the surface of which amazing vegetation has been preserved, since these places are protected from strong winds and other adverse effects of nature.

On the territory of this reserve, each tourist will be able to see a large number of landslides, massifs and talus of bizarre shapes and different sizes. All stone formations will be able to amaze vacationers with their intricacy. The attention of tourists is often drawn to a huge forty-meter column, which has retained its balance.

The largest on the territory of the tract is considered to be a landslide massif located near Ternovaya Balka. Its length is almost 500 meters, and its width can reach about 200 meters.

Wormwood, fescue, and thyme grow on massive terraces formed in the course of constant landslide processes. In addition, in these places you can see rose hips, blackberries, jasmine growing in groups. There is also a wild pear and openwork fern growing here.

Not only flora, but also animals are distinguished by a great variety in this natural park, the world of birds is rich in a special abundance. So, on the territory of the tract, you can see a huge number of different birds (flycatchers, partridges, starlings, cormorants). Also here you can find many insects, including scarab beetles. Foxes often live near the coast.

The length of this attraction is almost five kilometers. Dzhangul consists of two parts.

  • Top part. It is represented by numerous steppe zones with gullies, which become much deeper closer to the sea. The steppe territories are followed by steep and rocky outcrops to the coast.
  • Bottom part. This section looks like a landslide massif and many rocks of various sizes and shapes. Here you can see the chaos of the rocks.

History of appearance

The landscape of the tract was formed in the prehistoric period due to strong winds, frequent underwater earthquakes and violent storms. Researchers claim that several thousand years ago, a large formation of limestone formed on the territory of the natural park, which can be observed today.

This formation reaches a height of almost forty meters. It rests on a thin rocky base and at the same time is as stable as possible in all weather conditions.

An interesting legend of its origin is connected with the tract, according to which the children of giants used to play on the site of the reserve. They made a sandbox out of the park and threw large stones that interfered with them into the water, and this space appeared.

Interesting places

On the territory of the tract, you can find a considerable number of interesting places for vacationers.

  • Here any tourist can find beautiful picturesque beach areas with clean sand and water. At the same time, there are practically no tourists having a rest here. It is rather difficult to get down to the water due to the abundance of steep rocky slopes and massifs. Coastal stripes are usually narrow.
  • There are also excellent diving and surfing spots. It is also possible to organize walks along the coast of the park. It is next to this tract that you can find a large number of grottoes and cave zones under water, among which Gromykhalo, Burun-Koba, Yuzhnaya are separately distinguished (Gromykhalo and Yuzhnaya are located in the Peshchernaya Bay). The height of each of these places reaches more than ten meters. Their width is 2.5-5.5 meters. A visit by tourists to these grottoes and caves in a storm and bad weather is unsafe for human life.
  • You can also come here to simply admire the beautiful panoramas of sliding layers of rocks from a great height. An interesting natural monument is a long strip of massive boulders, which are considered a good place for geological research.
  • In addition, tourists can take an excursion along the numerous natural ravines of the tract. On the steep rocky slopes of the ravines, vacationers can see many different inscriptions left by people.
  • When visiting the tract, many tourists are attracted by the sunken dry cargo ship "Sirius", which is perfectly visible by a person from the reserve. Most of the ship is submerged, but its upper section can still be seen. This bulk carrier is often also called a ghost ship.

The best time to visit this natural park is late spring or summer. After all, it is during this period that the steppes begin to bloom profusely, and the sea warms up enough. The slopes are completely covered with flowers.

But already in early autumn and winter, the weather in the reserve is quickly deteriorating. Strong winds start here. Cold currents appear on the sea and high waves rise.

On the territory of the reserve There are no hotels and other accommodation intended for touristsTherefore, in this place, vacationers often pitch tents. Most often they are built between the rocks.
