More and more tourists instead of abroad are exploring their native spaces. And this is not surprising: safety, native language, reasonable prices (especially after the growth of the dollar exchange rate), familiar food and culture - all this speaks in favor of rest in the south of their country. We introduce you to one of the popular tourist places of Crimea - the Maly Mayak resort, not yet so famous and filled with vacationers, but with its own special charm.

Description of the village

Maliy Mayak is an increasingly popular resort located in the south of Crimea. This piece of paradise is located at the foot of Mount Ay-Todor. The nearest popular settlements are Alushta (10 km), Utyos, Bondarenkovo, Chaika, Kiparisnoe. Now about 2500 people live in the village.

During the season, the population of the town increases several times, thanks to lovers of the local sea and the southern Crimean generous sun.

Maly Mayak has a rich history that many of us do not even know about. In ancient times, there was a large settlement here, founded by the Greeks. In ancient sources it was known as Skimna or Lanbat bala. Here were the churches of St. Theodore and St. Michael, and even a feudal castle. The settlement became a major port city of Biyuk-Lambat when the Turks captured it.

An interesting thing is that "big lighthouse" is translated from the Tatar language Biyuk-Lambat.

Mainly Tatars lived here, whose main occupations were fishing and agriculture. The famous Russian scientist, founder of the Russian Geographical Society P. I. Köppen founded the "Karabakh" estate in 1829.

Maly Mayak began to develop as a resort in the 19th century.Russian aristocrats began to build villas and estates here for summer holidays, and also rented small houses by the sea. For example, now you can see the well-preserved Raevsky estate, which is an architectural monument. Thanks to active development, new roads have appeared, parks with exotic plants, gardens, alleys and even vineyards have been laid out. The infrastructure of the southern resort grew.

In 1945, after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, Biyuk-Lambat was renamed Maly Mayak.

Weather

Stability and softness - this is what characterizes the weather in Maly Mayak. This pleases those who are going to have a rest in the village. Due to the ideal weather conditions, the tourist season starts in May and ends in October. Summer brings sunny and dry days.

An important feature is the almost complete absence of dust.

The chance of rain is minimal (therefore the umbrella can be left at home). But even if this happens, then everything dries up very quickly. Such ideal conditions attract thousands of tourists here every year. The peak of the heat comes at the end of July (the temperature rises to +33 degrees), but it is easy to endure due to the peculiarities of the climate.

Ai-Todor mountain protects the village from strong winds. Winter is like late autumn, there is no snow and frost here. It is windy and rainy in autumn, but warm. Clean and fresh air, low humidity, sea salt strengthen the immune system and promote early recovery from illness.

At this resort, everything contributes to the cure of diseases such as:

  • allergy;
  • problems with the nervous system;
  • respiratory system diseases;
  • diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

A peculiarity of the cape is that on the one hand it is emerald green, and on the other, there is no greenery at all.

  • Park Karabakh, created by the founder of the Russian Geographical Society, ardently in love with the Crimea, Peter Ivanovich Köppen. Here you can spend the whole day admiring exotic plants.
  • Stone chaos Kuchuk-Lambat - huge stones randomly scattered. Bed, Monk, Gel-Kai, Soldier's Bread - the names of some stones. This beauty was created by a landslide in 1786.
  • Bird rocks. You will be able to see these small groups of islands in reality, and not only in Gaidai's film "The Diamond Arm".
  • Legendary mountain Ayu-Dag (or Bear Mountain).
  • Palace Karasan of Count Raevsky, built in the Moorish style. There is a beautiful park near the palace, where you can see about 200 species of different exotic plants. Famous Russian writers and poets often came to the estate.
  • Beautiful estate of Countess Gagarina - a real monument to the countess's love for her deceased husband. A magnificent palace, similar to a French castle, surrounded by a magnificent park with romantic alleys.

Now it houses the Utyos sanatorium.

  • Fountain Ak-Chokrak, which does not dry out in summer.

You can choose excursions on the embankment. They are conducted by private guides or travel agencies. You can independently go to the nearest resort towns - Alushta, Yalta, Massandra, Gurzuf, and also see the entire South Coast.
