Rest in the village of Mirny in Crimea
Crimea is the most attractive tourist destination for its subtropical southern coastline, but it would be unfair to ignore the rest of the peninsula. The sea washes the Crimea from all sides, in summer the heat is about the same both in the subtropics and in temperate climates, and although the infrastructure of the resorts outside the South Coast is comparatively lame, there is also a smaller influx of tourists and prices do not bite so much. If all these arguments seem to you worthy of going to the Crimean peninsula and checking everything personally, turn your attention to the village of Mirny.
Description and history
If you need to find the settlement of Mirny on the map of the Crimean peninsula, pay attention to the protruding western part. On any decent map of the terrain, Evpatoria will be marked, but our facility is located to the west of it, also near the sea coast.
Administratively, urban-type settlement subordinate to Evpatoria, although it is located 28 kilometers from it... There is water here from almost all sides - the Black Sea coast is located in the southwestern quarter, Donuzlav Lake is located in the northwest, and in the southeast - small Oybur lake. The lakes of the western part of Crimea are interesting to visitors due to their healing mud - this is one of the main reasons why this region is developing in terms of tourism.
Today the population of Mirny is more than 4 thousand people, which makes it possible to speak of it as a large settlement with all the necessary infrastructure.
A significant disadvantage for the town is that he has absolutely no history - compared to other resorts in Crimea, this is a big minus. In 1961, these were uninhabited places where the Soviet military began to build a naval garrison, for the sake of which Donuzlav Lake, previously completely separate, was specially connected to the sea. The beginning of the settlement was laid by the apartment buildings under construction for the military and their families, since a military airfield and a port were built (and are still preserved) nearby.
How to get there?
If you, like most tourists, arrived on the peninsula by plane through the Simferopol airport, it will not be difficult for you to get to Mirny. From Simferopol bus station-2 "Kurortnaya" several times a day there are direct flights to the village, which will take you directly to the place in two and a quarter hours and for about 350 rubles. Not all of these flights are convenient for arrivals, since most of them leave in the afternoon.
To adjust to the schedule, you can first go to Evpatoria, where buses leave from both bus stations of the city much more often and at any time of the day.
For those who decided to get from the Krasnodar Territory by their own car, Mirny will not be the most logical choice - it is located on the opposite end of the peninsula from the Crimean bridge. The distance along the roads from Kerch, located next to the exit from the bridge, to Mirny is 299 kilometers, they can be covered by car in about 4.5-5 hours.
The only advantage of the route is that it is problematic to get lost on it - most of it you need to follow the signs to Simferopol, after it - to Saki and Evpatoria, then keep the previous direction of movement and soon you will get to the final destination.
Where to stay?
For inexperienced tourists, this will be a surprise, but Mirny is located quite far from the sea coast - you will have to walk about 2 kilometers to reach it. The settlement is directly adjacent to the neighboring village of Popovka, Saki region, and now it is really located right on the coast, therefore, when choosing housing, be careful.
Despite the fact that the settlement itself is quite small, There are quite a few options for settling in it, especially if you take into account the neighboring Popovka. In Mirny itself, this is somewhat easier - due to the remoteness from the sea, there are fewer guests here, but the private sector is able to offer a wide variety of apartments. This happened because in recent decades, military activity in the village has greatly decreased, many locals have left, so there are many empty houses left in the town, which are rented out as a whole or in separate rooms.
If you arrived by your own car, such an inexpensive option for settlement should interest you, because the problem of remoteness is being solved.
Hotels and hotels are even present directly in Mirny, which is surprising, given its remoteness from the sea. Again, due to their not very favorable location, the typical Crimean price increase can be avoided.
Judging by the comments on profile sites, an example of local chic is hotel "Kolibri", where even meals are provided in their own cafe. Of other similar establishments, but the level is still more modest, it should be noted complex "Mirny" and mini-hotel "Chaika". The latter is located on the very border with Popovka, so it is relatively close to the sea from it.
If housing is located on the seashore and at the same time is listed in Mirny, then this is not necessarily a trick of the wording, it's just that the object is located outside the village as such - most likely on the so-called South Spit. There, the choice of accommodation is already much more diverse, there are boarding houses and sanatoriums, hotels and guest houses - rooms can be found for all tastes and all price categories.
The advantage of the settlement here is that you live on a strip of land 400 meters wide, on one side there will be the sea, and on the other - Donuzlav, but the main infrastructure will be in the distance. For this reason the Neptune and Chernomorets complexes are not very recommended for those looking for impressive amenities - these are the same apartments.
Hotel "Donuz LOVE", probably provides the most extensive opportunities for guests - fishing, windsurfing and diving can be organized here. You can play table tennis, go horse riding, rent a bike or just sing karaoke. Boathouse "Golden Sand" offers other interesting services - for example, here you can rent a car or arrange for the delivery of groceries directly to your room. It is also worth noting hotel "Christie", which has as many as 4 stars, which is very cool for such a small and not the most popular resort.
The best beaches
The main beaches of Mirny are traditionally considered to be those located in its main resort area - on the South Spit, towards the sea. Here they are made of sand, which, unlike Yevpatoria or any other, has a characteristic whitish (not yellow) shade.
Many vacationers associate the amazing purity of coastal waters with this color of sand, for which turbidity is uncharacteristic.
Lake Donuzlav also attracts holidaymakers, but it should be noted that There are simply no full-fledged beaches in the form in which most of those going on vacation imagine them. The big plus of the lake is that it is shallow - the water here warms up very quickly, besides, children and those who cannot swim can swim without any fear.
Oybur Lake does not have beaches at all in the literal sense of the word, but if you have already come to rest in Mirny, it is simply necessary to visit here. This is one of the main attractions of this entire area - at least for the sake of local brine, healing mud and blue clay, tourists come here in droves.
sights
Despite the modest size of the village and its short history, there are a lot of attractions in it, albeit not historical. Once here, be sure to check out the following objects.
- Republic of Kazantip. For the "club" youth of the entire past and the first half of this decade, the surroundings of Mirny were a dream - it was here that the famous festival of electronic music was held for many years. Formally, it was assigned to neighboring Popovka, but it was not carried out directly in it, therefore it would be fair to say that both settlements are related to it.
At the same time, after the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula to Russia, the legendary event was prohibited by the new authorities, but many visitors are still asking locals to show where the main party of the post-Soviet space was once held.
- Wind power plant. In the last decade, even in our area, more and more attention has begun to be paid to "green" technologies for generating electricity from renewable sources, and yet what you see here will seem like a wonder to most of our fellow citizens. The total number of "mills" is more than one and a half hundred. They are located on the side of the village of Krylovka - where you can take amazingly atmospheric photos.
- Recreation center "Stepnaya Harbor". Such objects can be relatively rarely considered attractions, but in this case everything is justified, since there is an unusual dolphinarium next to it - fighting dolphins live in it. Despite the formidable name, visitors are allowed the closest contact with animals - however, strictly on condition that a trainer is present.
Interestingly, the institution provides an opportunity to organize here your corporate party or any other event, and after all, a birthday with dolphins is really original.
- Lake Donuzlav. Many vacationers leave here without ever knowing that the reservoir in which they plunged is recognized as a tourist attraction.Still - even Greenpeace considers the vicinity of Donuzlav to be the cleanest region in the entire Black Sea region, and its silt is considered one of the most useful in the world. Interestingly, even half a century ago, the water in the lake was fresh, but the military decided that this was an excellent place for the construction of a seaport, and dug a thin embankment. Thanks to this, nowadays the resort South Spit has appeared, and Lake Donuzlav has become moderately salty - sea water here mixes with spring water.
Recreation and entertainment
While the above-mentioned festival of electronic music existed, it was this entertainment on the scale of Mirny that was most famous - it determined the local high season, because a huge number of young people went to Crimea specifically in order to get here. Today Kazantip is no longer held, but the hotels located in the village still offer several interesting options for spending time.
In addition to the banal sunbathing and bathing, tourists are also attracted here by the opportunity to test themselves in the role diver. At several points on the territory of the same South Spit, you can rent everything you need for this, take a short briefing and, together with an instructor, dive into the depths to see what the local underwater world looks like.
For Crimea, such entertainment is not a real wonder, but it will cost crazy money on the South Coast, and here almost every guest of Mirny has the opportunity to diversify his leisure time.
For men, fascinating entertainment can also be fishing, after all, fishing in the sea is not at all the same as in a river or a small pond. You can agree with the locals to go out to sea on a motor boat or a small boat - far from the coast, the prey, not frightened by the shallow water and the abundance of swimmers, will be much more impressive.
After this, when you come to a meeting with friends, you can absolutely honestly spread your arms to the sides, showing what kind of prey you came across in life. For women, such a boat trip can also be interesting, especially if the boat assumes the presence of some minimum amenities for the lady.
Horseback riding is another local attraction worth seeing. On the basis of several local hotels, horse riding is taught, and you can immediately rent a horse and ride around the neighborhood with a sightseeing tour. Despite the fact that it is customary to praise the beauty of the mountainous and subtropical Crimea, the steppe is also beautiful in its own way, especially since these places were recognized as ecologically clean.
If you are nevertheless closer to a bicycle as a means of transport, you can rent it as well.
As befits a Crimean beach, it even offers certain entertainment in itself, which, however, is mainly aimed at children and young people. It has all the typical seaside attractions - various slides and mini-pools... You can ride a banana tree or even try to master the skill of windsurfing - although this is not a top place for this, it will do for a try.
Finally, you need to take advantage of the fact that you are in close proximity to the sea, and be sure to taste the local seafood. There are no particularly distinguished catering establishments here - of the expensive ones, one can only mention Teremok, but the reviews about it are contradictory. As a last resort, groceries can be bought at the local market and prepared by yourself.
Reviews
Mirny is a relatively small village that would never have become a resort if it were located anywhere else. However, the town was lucky, and the warm sea, coupled with salt lakes and their healing mud, attracts tourists here. Here you can read all kinds of vacation reviews.
Those who are not particularly picky about the infrastructure speaks well of the rest here - the relative silence of this place after the noisy Yalta or Alushta is simply mesmerizing. Rest here cannot be called wild, because there are entertainment such as surfing and diving - there are simply no water parks and similar things, but there is a dolphinarium.
Cheap, beautiful and useful - this is how you can briefly describe the rest in Mirny.
This place is usually criticized by young people - very often you can read that after the closure of Kazantip there was absolutely nothing to do here. Having lost its main tourist attraction, the town runs the risk of losing everything else, because the locals have begun to receive less profit and are gradually leaving here.
