Miskhor in Crimea: description, places to stay and attractions

On the southern coast of Crimea, there is a picturesque place Miskhor, unknown to many. Anyone who is passing through it often stays for a longer period. This is not surprising, because around the village there are majestic mountains, beautiful parks and other impressive Crimean sights. Let's take a closer look at this cozy place.

Miskhor is a small coastal area. It is located between Gaspra and Koreiz (small settlements). It is separated from Yalta by a 10-kilometer distance.

The population of this place is slightly more than 2500 people. Despite its modest size, Miskhor has a highly developed infrastructure. There is a transport connection with the nearest settlements. There are shops, restaurants and cafes.

Interesting that there is no Miskhor on the map... The fact is that in the 60s of the twentieth century, it was recognized as part of the village of Koreiz. Nevertheless, the name of the territory has been preserved. In addition, the local sanatorium and the nearby park have similar names. In addition to the necessary tourist conditions, the place is famous for its beauty and favorable climate, which makes the rest here amazing.

Miskhor has a rich history. Even before our era, judging by the chronicles, Greeks lived here. They were replaced by the Byzantines. Then the Khazars settled here, and then the Genoese. All this time the settlement was of great commercial importance. When the territory was occupied by the Turks, trade ceased. This was the period of decline of the whole Crimea.

In 1783 Crimea became part of Russia. The census revealed that the once busy settlement had become virtually deserted.There are only two courtyards left.

Gradually, the zone began to develop. Mansions for Russian aristocrats were built here. Then the plots began to be leased (first for the summer period, then for a period of up to several decades).

In the Soviet period, sanatoriums for a wide range of people began to appear. The well-known "Artek" is located just near this place.

Despite the fact that in 1958 Miskhor was officially recognized as part of Koreiz, the locals did not stop calling the coast from Alupka to Cape Ai-Todor that way. And in places remote from the Crimea, a separate resort with this name has always been allocated. Today you can visit this wonderful place.

The climate in Miskhor is mild and pleasant. Winter is warm here, spring comes early, summer is filled with sunshine, and autumn can be long and beautiful. Mountains protect from cold winds. It is no coincidence that this place is called the warmest Crimean corner.

It is still cool in March, but already quite comfortable. The swimming season lasts from mid-May to late September. There are a hundred more hours of sunshine here than in Sochi.

The average temperature in summer is 25 degrees Celsius. The water temperature is usually around 23 degrees. In winter, the thermometer level does not drop below 5 degrees Celsius. There are no frosts here. Rains are rare.

The combination of mountain and sea air with the aroma of coniferous crops makes the atmosphere of this place truly healthy. Staying here is beneficial for both adults and children. The state of the nervous and cardiovascular systems is normalized, the condition with pulmonary ailments is alleviated, and the immune system is strengthened.

Miskhor is a quiet place. In dense greenery, you can hide from the hustle and bustle, immersed in the harmony of nature. If you want to see something interesting, you can visit the local sights. The convenient location of the village allows you to quickly get to any part of the Crimea.

There are also plenty of entertainments in the nearest settlements. For example, you can go to Yalta. There you can rent a catamaran or jet ski and have plenty of fun on the water. Hot air ballooning is another memorable leisure option. Children will love the zoo or dolphinarium.

However, you don't need to go far from Miskhor. There is also a lot to see in the immediate vicinity. It is from here that a three-kilometer cable car goes to Ai-Petri. For half an hour of travel, you can enjoy the delightful views of the southeastern coast of Crimea. You will also be able to see the impressive Uchan-Su waterfall.

Miskhorsky Park is a popular place in these parts. It has long been recognized as a masterpiece of landscape art. The park was organized on the site of a forest. The natural topography has been preserved. Hundreds of different plant species can be seen here.

Many of them are exotic. It is a great place to walk and reflect on life. The beauty of this park was once admired by Chekhov, Tolstoy, Kuprin. Fragrant trees and shrubs, interesting sculptures, a color-musical fountain - all this will not leave indifferent even the modern tourist.

Local palaces are architectural masterpieces that should not be ignored. For example, in the center of Miskhorsky Park there is Dulber Palace... The snow-white building, created in the Moorish style, is one of the most beautiful buildings in this area. It was once the home of the Romanov family. Vorontsov Palace is located in Alupka. A beautiful gray-green building with openwork balconies combines features of English Gothic, elements of European medieval architecture, as well as Indian and Oriental motives. The residence used to belong to Governor-General Mikhail Vorontsov, and then to his children. Under Soviet rule, it was used as a dacha for the NKVD, and then as a sanatorium.

Today many people come to Alupka to admire the Vorontsov Palace and the park complex. Lush greenery, fragrant flowers, marble sculptures, artificial lakes and waterfalls - all this leaves a lasting impression. The interiors of the building are also interesting.

It is impossible not to mention two famous sculptures of Miskhor. Both of them are based on an ancient Crimean legend. The first is called "Abduction of Arza"... It is located on the embankment. He portrays sad mermaid with a child in her arms.

The essence of the legend is known to all local residents. Once upon a time, a beautiful girl Arzy lived on the site of the modern embankment. Many admired her beauty and dreamed of marrying her, but they were all rejected. The girl dreamed of a guy whom she saw only once at the fountain. She hoped that the meeting would be repeated, and each time she came here in the hope of that. And now a miracle happened, the young decided to get married. Azra once again came to the fountain before the wedding, but one of the insidious admirers (old man Ali Baba) saw her and kidnapped her. He decided to take revenge on the beauty for the refusal by selling her to the Turkish sultan.

In captivity, the girl yearned for a long time. Even the birth of a child could not give her back the joy of life. Once she stepped with a baby into the depths of the sea and turned into a mermaid. Since then, people have seen more than once on the day of the abduction of the beautiful mermaid, who was sitting on a stone and sadly looking at her native places.

The descent to the water in this area is gentle. The sea heats up quickly and remains warm for a long time. Through the clear clear water, you can easily see the bottom, strewn with various pebbles. The beaches are also covered with pebbles. Sometimes there are rather large stones, therefore it is recommended to bring comfortable rubber slates with you.

The coast is well maintained. This is especially true for recreation areas on the territory of local sanatoriums and hotels. Vacationers get all the amenities. In addition, there are entertainment events for every taste. These are diving, sea fishing, various water attractions.

The central beach "Rusalka" is the most popular in Miskhor. It is here that the famous sculptures are located. Access to the beach is free, but sun loungers are available for money. The Alligator restaurant is considered the best in this resort area. It is located in the Miskhor park. There is a small dining room not far from it. This is a great choice for those looking for a hearty snack without overpaying for a meal. The choice of dishes here is not very large, but the prices are affordable (from 400 rubles for a set lunch). Café Caramel is also highly praised. In it, a person can eat deliciously, paying from 700 rubles (for one).

If you happen to be in Gaspra, you can visit the restaurant with the soulful name "At the mother-in-law". The most fashionable here is the "Barashki" establishment. But the restaurant "Knyazha Kitchen" is especially praised. It is located on the territory sanatorium "Dnepr"... A decent selection of first and second courses, salads, sushi allows everyone to choose what they like.

As already mentioned, from Yalta to Miskhor 10 km. You can get to the village from Yalta by shuttle bus departing from the bus station. He walks quite often. The journey takes only about 15 minutes. Also, a boat departs daily from the Yalta embankment towards Miskhor. The ticket price is about 200 rubles. Such a trip will allow you to enjoy the sea air and magnificent views.

If you are in Simferopol, you can get to the specified resort area in two ways. First of all, there is a direct flight to Miskhor. This is bus number 32. The ticket price is 60 rubles. Also, buses No. 26 and 27 pass through the village. Then they go to Alupka and Simeiz. You should take the bus at one of the bus stations (Kurortnaya or Zapadnaya).

Rest in Miskhor leaves no one indifferent. Usually, the reviews of tourists are enthusiastic, although sometimes disadvantages are noted.

• interior decoration and furnishings of some sanatoriums and boarding houses requiring renovation;
• not very good lighting (in the dark it is better to take a flashlight with you).
