The unique mild climate of the southern coast of Crimea allows guests of the peninsula to rest and receive treatment practically throughout the year.

Popular cities

Along the southern coast of Crimea, between the sea and the mountain range, resort towns and villages of the peninsula are located in the most beautiful natural conditions. Here you will not find megalopolises with a noisy infrastructure, only small cozy settlements with a thousand-year history, immersed in greenery.

Small resort towns welcome guests all year round; there is always something to see, something to be surprised at and what to admire.

Alupka

The town is located near Yalta in a very picturesque place between the sea and Mount Ai-Petri. Small streets are lined in tiers, each of them descending to the sea. Alupka has a surprisingly beautiful coastline, indented with small bays, they are decorated with many yachts anchored in the roads. You can swim in the sea from May to October.

The city began its history in 960, when the Khazars occupied the Taurian settlement and gave it the name Alubika. Later the Ottomans began to call the town Alupka.

Sanatoriums and hospitals appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century. Today Alupka has 29 well-equipped beaches, 6 of which are public and 23 are sanatoriums.

The guides offer to visit the magnificent Vorontsov Palace, karst caves, take a cable car up to Mount Ai-Petri.

The Diver Center provides an opportunity for extreme sportsmen to go scuba diving.

Alushta

The town is located on the seashore, it is not surrounded by a continuous mountain range, but by single peaks - Demerdzhi, Chatyr-Dag, Kastel, this gives access to the winds, and in summer there is no stifling heat. The winter is mild, the temperature drops not below +5, the summer is comfortable - about +25 degrees Celsius.

The history of the city dates back to the 6th century, when the Genoese built the Aluston fortress. Over time, a trading settlement Lusta was formed around it. Alushta received the official status of the city in 1902.

Today the resort area is located along the sea on an area of 40 km. There are many beautiful places to visit. From the top of the Chatyr-Dag mountain you can see the whole Crimea, its slopes are a nature reserve. There is the famous Savlukh-Su spring, the water in which is rich in silver. On the slope of Demerdzhi is the Valley of Ghosts with fantastic figured rocks and boulders, which are about a billion years old. In the area of Alushta, magnificent cascading waterfalls are especially noteworthy.

Yalta

Yalta is the most wonderful resort town in Crimea. Big Yalta stretches for 72 km. Only half of this territory is occupied by buildings, and the rest is parks and squares with tropical plants.

The area was actively populated in the 8th century BC. NS. Before the conquest of Crimea by the Russian Empire, Yalta had a difficult history; it was either a tiny village or expanded to the scale of a city. It was captured by the Golden Horde, Venetians, Genoese, Ottomans. When Russian soldiers entered Yalta, it was a small settlement of 13 houses.

Today, tourists are attracted by the sea, the unique comfortable climate and many attractions that can be seen here.

These include the palaces Dulber, Livadia, Massandrovsky, the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, the Roffe baths, the House-Museum of A.P. Chekhov, the unique Nikitsky Botanical Garden.

Resort villages

Those who are tired of the noise of cities and want to spend their holidays in relative silence, it is better to choose small villages for living. In them, as in cities, you can find ways of rest for every taste, and on excursions you can see any part of Crimea.

Gaspra

The village is located at Cape Ai-Todor, administratively attached to Yalta, but lives its own measured, quiet life. It is here that the business card of the Crimea - "Swallow's Nest" is located.

Gurzuf

Heading from Simferopol to Yalta, without thinking twice, get off in the village of Gurzuf. Guests will be greeted by the same gentle sun and sea, as in Yalta, only without its fuss. Not far from the village is Mount Ai-Petri, the palaces of Livadia, Massandrovsky, house-museums, Nikitsky Botanical Garden.

Katsiveli

The village is located near Mount Koshka, has a beautiful natural landscape and ancient history. There is an observatory, a water park and the only oyster farm in Russia.

Options for families with children

The cities and towns of the southern coast of Crimea are the best places for families with children. Everything is suitable for kids and older children - climate, unique flora and fauna. Tours and museums will broaden their horizons, and a rich entertainment industry will make their vacation bright and memorable.

The mountain range closes the coast from the northerly winds, and the southerly ones bring coolness on hot days. Therefore, it is not too cold or exhaustingly hot here, the climate is close to the subtropical Mediterranean, it rains a little, mainly in winter and autumn. Arriving with children in the autumn or spring, pay their attention to the sharp change in climatic conditions: it was just a cold autumn, and entering the territory of the South Coast, you find yourself in a summer environment with green parks flooded with sunlight and warmth.

Children with diseases of the lungs and upper respiratory tract are brought to Crimea.

Some parents of babies with asthma change their place of residence on the Crimean peninsula, here the disease is much easier.

An unusual warm and mild climate made it possible to grow exotic plants on the southern coast, which were brought here from hot countries of all continents. You should definitely visit with children Nikitsky Botanical Garden. They will remember this trip for a lifetime. There you can see incredibly beautiful magnolia flowers, like large saucers opened in the trees. Bamboo groves grow only in southern countries, but in the Crimea they are.

Children are impressed by the 3-6-meter thin trunks with foliage, which the guide calls grass. In the south of the peninsula, cypresses, sequoias, strawberry and breadfruit grow, and lotuses float in the ponds. The famous pistachio tree 8 meters in girth is surprising, it is more than a thousand years old. You can see mini cactus gardens as well as millions of roses and chrysanthemums.

The subtropical climate is conducive to the habitation of exotic insects, large scorpions, tarantulas, solpugs, scolopendra. There are few of them, and they try to hide from people, but it is worth explaining to children if they encounter a large insect, you can't touch it with your hands, it's better to watch it... On the peninsula, you can see beautiful yellow snakes, in fact, these are harmless legless lizards, yellow-bellied lizards, they do not need to be afraid or offended.

It is definitely worth visiting excursions with children, they are happy to walk through ancient palaces, the ruins of fortresses and castles, visit museums, get acquainted with the rich multinational history of the peninsula.

The entertainment program for children is also impressive, you can visit dolphinarium, zoo, crocodilarium, theater of sea animals. Have fun in the water park, see the Yalta glade of fairy tales, the pirate museum, the miniature park in Alushta. Children love to visit caves, waterfalls and a cable car ride.

How to choose?

The southern coast of Crimea is a coastal area that stretches for 150 km along the sea. Like pearls, small cozy resort towns and villages are scattered over it. In any of them, your vacation will be unforgettable, because these places have an ancient history, good climate, unique landscapes, magnificent vegetation and an attractive sea.

To understand where to go to rest, you should decide on your desires. This can be extreme hobbies, a vacation with children, a passing study of history, or a pleasant pastime for lazy people. There are suitable resting places for every task.

Extreme

The very nature in Crimea is conducive to active rest - mountains, sea, forest, caves. It is easy to choose a hobby for every taste.

  • Rope jumping. In Yalta, on Mount Ai-Petri, you can "drown" in the clouds. There, at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, there is an excellent jumping platform.
  • Cycling tourism. The fascinating route starts from the village of Massandra (Nikitsky pass). It passes through a nature reserve with wonderful vegetation on an asphalt winding road.
  • Mountaineering. Climbers love the Foros edge most of all, the starting point for which is the village of Foros. The summit is rich in beautiful, comfortable trails for beginners, but it also has serious, challenging trails for professionals.
  • Speleotourism. Crimea is rich in various caves. We recommend visiting the Marble Cave, where it will be difficult even to get dirty. You can explore the Miskhor grottoes in Ai-Petri, Chatyr-Dag cave, Red.
  • Jeep tours are offered in cities and towns and walks on ATVs, which are perfectly combined with visiting amazing places that are difficult for a hiker to reach.

With kids

We described visiting interesting places with children above. Now we will focus only on places of residence.

  • Comfortable with children organized rest in sanatoriums, boarding houses, hotels, where "all inclusive", no need to waste time on self-catering and looking for excursions. You should select sanatoriums with their own beaches and large areas.
  • Private sector. With young children, it is better to settle closer to the sea, in places without steep ascents, since the South Coast is a mountainous area, there will be enough descents and ascents here.
  • Fans of wild recreation should choose Alushta, the village of Solnechnogorskoye or Katsiveli. Every year, whole tent cities grow up there, in which there are no problems with water, purchasing food and entertainment.

With excursions

As for excursions, they are organized everywhere, even in the smallest villages. They can show interesting places far outside the selected area. Excursions with entertainment programs are offered, for example, a full day trip to the water park or dolphinarium with boat rides.

For lazy people

Such a vacation involves housing near the sea and many food establishments - restaurants, cafes, bars, cheburek, barbecue and others.

While vacationing in Crimea, you should remember: the larger the city, the more expensive the food, service, and the more money you will have to leave.

An unforgettable vacation can be obtained in small villages - they are cozier and quieter, suitable for those who are tired of the noise of industrial areas.
