On the territory of Crimea, there are many secluded corners where tourism is still poorly developed, but that's the beauty, since there is no large influx of people, and the beaches remain clean. One of these places is Olenevka, located in the west.

Description

Cape Tarkhankut is considered the most western point of Crimea; not far from it, at a distance of 5 kilometers, there is a small village of Olenevka. The local landscape is notable for white rocks and crystal clear water and air. On this side of the peninsula, nature has remained pristine, since it is least touched by man.

The outskirts of the village are not only a place with amazing nature, but also an excellent solution for recreation for people who want to spend it in silence and solitude. The area is ecologically clean due to the absence of nearby major highways and industrial enterprises.

Most often, this corner is chosen for recreation by divers, surfers, those who like to enjoy camping and spending the night in tents. Local authorities also could not fail to note the advantages of the local climate and peculiarities of nature, so Olenevka was chosen in 2016 as the venue for the festival, which was named "Crimea-extreme".

Indeed, this is a unique place for diving, as the water is crystal clear and the underwater world of the peninsula is clearly visible.

The sandy beaches here do not differ in beauty from the Maldivian ones; amazing white sand lies on the coast. From the village to the coast, the road takes no more than 10 minutes, which is very convenient. The rocky coastline stretches for 10 kilometers to the southeast. These places are known as the Big and Small Atlesh.

History of appearance

After the archaeological excavations, a little more is known about Olenevka and its surroundings. Scientists believe that the first settlement appeared here in ancient times. It was the Greek town of the Chersonesus Chora.

The total area of the settlement, dated to the 6th century, was 3.2 hectares. According to the evidence found, the town was well fortified, and its population in the 1st century AD was replaced by the Scythian.

The first mention of the village can be found in the Cameral description of the Crimea. The document is dated 1784. The village, after the Crimea joined Russia, became part of the Yevpatoria district, but this happened later.

The Pavlovsk reforms took place from 1796 to 1802, the settlement during this period passed to the Akmechet district and became part of the Novorossiysk province. After that there were several more shifts in the administrative division.

According to the available historical data, all local residents were forced to leave for Turkey, where they settled afterwards. This was the first wave of emigration provoked by General Popov. After buying him a decent share of the local land, he brought the Nogai here. By 1806, there were 43 courtyards, 268 inhabitants lived in them.

In 1800, another village was formed in the neighborhood - Stepanovka, slightly larger in size. 382 people lived on its territory, but this is the only document where there is a mention of the settlement, since in the subsequent period on all maps the area was marked as empty. Only in 1820 Popov began to relocate his peasants to a ready-made place.

The village was also affected by the reforms of Alexander II. During this period, a detailed census of local residents was carried out. By that time, two fish factories were built here and one orchard was planted. On the map, Karadzha (the former name of Olenevka) was marked by a Russian settlement, on the territory of which a rescue station was organized in 1876. After 3 years, a school began to work here, and in 1886 the first telegraph appeared. In 1887, the number of local residents increased to 536.

The next reform took place in 1890, then the settlement was assigned to the Kunan volost, the number of residents in the existing 110 households was 826 people. In 1921, the volost was decided to abolish, as evidenced by the surviving resolution of the Crimean Revolutionary Committee. Since that time, the Evpatoria district began to exist. The settlement of Karadzha was part of the Evpatoria region.

Olenevka received its modern name only in August 1945.

Where is it located and how to get there?

The distance from Simferopol to Olenevka is 160 kilometers. On the map, you can easily find the village if you look at the western region of the peninsula.

You can get to Olenevka by various types of transport.

If you choose a plane, you will first have to fly to Simferopol, where a new terminal was opened not so long ago. The flight from Moscow to the destination takes an average of 3 hours. There are enough flights, so there are no problems with buying a ticket.

From the airport, you can get from Simferopol to Olenevka either by public transport, or by taxi or even a rented car. If you choose a regular bus, you will have to change trains in Evpatoria, since there is no direct flight from the airport to Olenevka.

The bus to Evpatoria does not run often, you can just get to the bus station, where there are more opportunities. For this, a trolleybus number 8, 9, 11 is suitable. If, nevertheless, it is decided to wait for transport, then you need a bus number 49.

Without traffic jams, the railway station offers to get to Evpatoria. Here electric trains from Simferopol run with a higher frequency.

In the future, it is planned to open a railway bridge to Crimea, but while it is being completed, now it will take a long time to get by rail if you move from the central part of Russia. The end point is Adler or Krasnodar, from there by bus to Crimea, then by local transport to Olenevka.

You can take a taxi from the airport in Simferopol to the settlement, but it should be borne in mind that the cost of the trip is 25 rubles per kilometer.

In this case, you can think about going on vacation in your own car (or taking a rented car). Having reached Kerch by car, you will first need to cross the Crimean bridge, then go to the E97 highway, which leads to Feodosia, then turn onto P22 to Simferopol, and then follow P25 to Evpatoria. After that, you still need to drive a large section of the road along T0108, which will lead to Chernomorskoye, and only there you will need to get to Revolution Street, which will lead to the settlement.

Where to stay?

There are no large hotel complexes or sanatoriums on the territory of Olenevka, but small hotels in the private sector can offer cozy and comfortable apartments near the sea. Almost all of them are close to the sea. Here they offer not only to spend a comfortable vacation, but also promise to feed delicious food in the morning. The cost depends on what time the room is booked, the most expensive rooms are in the summer, when there are a lot of vacationers.

The private sector has been and remains an excellent option for living. The locals are distinguished by their hospitality and are ready to create all the necessary conditions for tourists. Housing is offered in different ways, so the cost can vary greatly. There are small rooms for those who prefer to have everything they need close at hand and stay in privacy. They can offer separate houses or villas.

Quite good conditions have been created in a 2-storey mansion on the street. Lenin, 108A. The house is also suitable for a large company, as it can accommodate up to 10 people. There are air conditioners, a picnic area is organized in the yard, there is a barbecue and a terrace.

If you want romance, then the apartments on Morskaya Street, 2, are best suited. The building has a special architecture and from the outside resembles a medieval castle. On the existing site, the owners have landscaped an amazing park with a small fountain and sculptures.

There are good accommodations for tourists with modest demands. There are several guest houses on Lenin Street. Cozy rooms await in small hotels on Morskaya, 19. Here they will offer standard, luxury, economy and comfort rooms. Inside there are all the necessary household appliances and comfortable new furniture. The kitchen is shared if someone wants to cook their own food on vacation. The bathroom has a shower.

Recreation at the "Breeze" base, which is located along Lenin Street, 42A, is inexpensive. According to experienced tourists, renting a room is the cheapest in the private sector from the local population. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are small bungalows not far from the sea, but to save money, you will have to negotiate with the owners directly, and not through intermediaries.

The cost for a room or apartment will depend on:

  • on the level of comfort;
  • distance from the coastline;
  • season.

Rooms are the most expensive in summer, when there are a lot of tourists. Some owners are willing to drop the cost a little if they plan to stay at the resort for several weeks. A cottage costs from 3.5 thousand rubles per day in the high season. In the private sector, an economy class room can be found for 500 rubles, a place in a room - from 200 rubles.

The hotel in Olenevka "Solnechnaya Dolina" is very popular. In its yard there is a swimming pool for guests, and there is a private beach adjacent to the territory, which is very convenient. Here you can stroll through the beautiful garden in the evening. All rooms are equipped with refrigerators, TVs and air conditioners.

There are attractive restaurants nearby, if you don't feel like leaving the hotel, you can use the bar here. There is a possibility to rent a bike, which makes it easier to explore the area.

Vacationers are offered to enjoy active rest; nearby there are centers where diving and snorkeling are organized. There is also everything you need to play billiards or table tennis.

Families with children will feel comfortable in the guest house "Elva", in the courtyard of which there is a safe playground. All rooms are comfortable and delicious breakfast is served. In the evening you can relax on the terrace.

There are also several boarding houses on the territory of Olenevka, the most popular is "Monsoon". Inside there is a restaurant and bar serving traditional European cuisine. If you feel like freshening up during the day, you can use the outdoor pool. For those who are used to staying at work, they offer free round-the-clock Internet.

Olenevka can offer comfortable camping or just camping with tents. Every year the number of people who want to spend their vacation this way only increases. A good place can be found at Cape Tarkhankut, which is located in the Karadzha Bay. There are several attractions nearby, in addition, it will not be difficult to get to Evpatoria.

To understand what camping in Olenevka is, it is worth diving into the topic in more detail. You can live in your own tent or in a trailer or trailer. Such stationary houses allow you to provide maximum comfort on vacation. The administration did its best and equipped special areas for them, where a shower and a toilet are provided.

Most of all in such a vacation is the freedom and proximity of the sea. There is no need to go to the beach as the parking is located directly on it. A family with children was able to appreciate the beauty of such a vacation, since the descent to the sea is gentle, there is sand everywhere, and a shallow depth remains for a very long time.

There are also many fans of diving and windsurfing. There is a grocery store nearby where you can easily stock up on food.

The only disadvantage of such a holiday is that there is no vegetation on the shore, so there is nowhere to hide without an umbrella. Around the tent camp there is a steppe, from small hills a stunning view opens up.

    The best beaches

The coast on the outskirts of Olenevka is almost completely covered with sand, which is why this area is so popular. The beaches are clean, but the season does not last too long, as it gets cool in the west of Crimea already in September.

In summer there are always a lot of tourists, but not all areas are available for swimming. For example, the area around the Tarkhankut lighthouse is a restricted area where swimming is prohibited. There is no beach as such, but there are small areas where you can sit quite comfortably among the large boulders. This is not the best place for families with children, but divers will definitely like it, since the water remains crystal clear all the time.

It is in the vicinity of Olenevka that the so-called White Beach or Crimean Maldives is located. Getting on it from land is not so easy, you will need to apply the simplest climbing skills. The easiest way to sail is by kayak or rubber inflatable boat. There is always the opportunity to rent a boat not far from the lighthouse, then the owner will return to the beach for you when needed.

White cliffs surround this colorful and secluded place. At the bottom of the sea and along the coast lies coarse white sand, which is similar to that of the Maldives. However, not all of the coastline here is ideal for soaking up the sun, but since there are never too many people, a place can always be found.

You can often see blue jellyfish in the water; some tourists even arrange a hunt for them. Crabs are also caught here.

There is another attractive place in the vicinity of the settlement - Ocheretay bay with a gentle coast. It is easy to find it on the outskirts of Tarkankutsky Park. Local residents say that once there was a camp where a detachment of fur seals was raised. Today the place is very popular with tourists looking for seclusion. There is a well with drinking water on the territory.

The sea in the bay is always calm, the entrance to the sea is gradual. But not everything is as perfect as we would like, since a gas pipeline runs here, so the area is closed to the public. But this is only in theory, in practice there is an entrance from the side of a dirt road, although it is not very convenient.

Rumor has it that shells from the Great Patriotic War are still at the bottom, but this is an unconfirmed fact, so they often come here with tents, since there is access to drinking water.

For those who value pristine nature and silence, rather than convenience, we can offer the Lazy Beach, which can be found closer to Atlesh. There are sheer cliffs for climbers and clear sea for everyone who just wants to enjoy the sea and sand.

The terrain is distinguished by the presence of large boulders, but the descent to the sea is gradual, comfortable, there are areas where an air mattress can easily be located. There is a parking lot not far from the slope, you can drive up by car along the road and leave it here until the evening.

You need to understand that the wilderness here is also characterized by the impressive depth of the sea. To relax on such a beach, you should be confident in your capabilities. The depth increases rapidly, so it is not suitable for children.

Of all the beaches that Olenevka can offer, the main one remains one of the most demanded. The locals called him the Crimean Florida, because in fact this place fits the definition of paradise on earth. The embankment goes right here, there are comfortable hotels and hotels nearby.

This place is more than others touched by man, therefore, it is as much cultivated as possible. There are umbrellas and sun loungers, however, you have to pay for them. For convenience, changing cabins and showers have been installed throughout the beach. Here you can have a snack without leaving the beach, enjoy wine and other drinks, taste smoked fish.

The length of the coastline is 3 kilometers, the width of the beach is 100 meters. The entrance to the sea is ideal for families with children. Precisely because there is a lot of space, there are equipped beach volleyball courts.

Those who are used to actively spending their holidays will also like it on vacation. Tourists are offered various water attractions; kiting is popular with young people - water skiing with a parachute.

    sights

Located in the west of Crimea, the Tarkhankut Peninsula is a fabulously beautiful place, the main treasure of which is pristine virgin nature. This is the least populated part of the peninsula, so mainly those who appreciate solitude come here.

This romantic and mysterious place is a steppe that gradually turns into the Black Sea.where fresh springs erupt from the bottom of the salt water. On this side of the peninsula, summers are hot and dry, days are warm and windy, and nights are cool and quiet. The sea is crystal clear and therefore attracts tourists from all over the world.

The entire coastline here is a natural monument. Bizarre cliffs and promontories protruding into the sea, picturesque bays cut through through tunnels, and fantastic islands, mysterious ravines and caves, wild vegetation and warm sandy beaches - all this nature has collected on the territory of a small peninsula, turning it into a real magnet for travelers.

In addition to the incomprehensible amount of natural treasures, there are numerous interesting archaeological sites preserved here. Here you can see burial mounds of different centuries, ruins of ancient settlements and fragments of small medieval fortress cities. The most notable among them are the remains of the ancient Greek polis Kalos Limen, which existed from the 4th century BC. NS. to the 1st century A.D. NS.

Today on its territory there is a historical and archaeological reserve of the same name. It consists of a local history museum and an ancient settlement. Most of the museum's exhibits were found during excavations. The unique collection of amphorae, tableware, and women's jewelry is of particular value. There are also the remains of an ancient Greek fortress and the central city gate.

One of the most picturesque places of the Tarkhankut peninsula is the Dzhangul landslide coast, located near the village of Olenevka. Ladders created by landslides stretch along high steep cliffs, under which the azure sea splashes. Ivy-covered landslide remains hover over this staircase like fantastic figures.

The pearl of western Crimea is Cape Tarkhankut, which is located not far from here. It is considered an ideal place for diving: crystal clear water, which becomes very warm in summer, variegated aquatic plants and a very rich fauna. The main attraction of the cape is the old lighthouse, built in 1816.

Cape Tarkhankut is the westernmost point of the peninsula; this attraction is very popular for many reasons.

Around the village, you should definitely explore the small bays, explore the grottoes and shoals. Local rocks either descend to the water or go forty meters in height.

You should definitely visit the Big and Small Atlesh, which are located in the west of Crimea. This place owes its fabulous landscape to the sea and the wind; over the centuries, they have turned this area into one of the most colorful corners. The coves, which today delight with crystal clear waters, were once used by pirates and smugglers, as there are many hidden niches where you can hide something of value.

In translation from the Crimean Tatar Atlesh means "fire". If we turn to history, it will become clear why the local cliffs are called that way. The fact is that before the construction of lighthouses, large bonfires were kindled here, which were necessary for sailors as a landmark at night.

The territory is protected and consists of two natural monuments located a kilometer from each other. At Bolshoi Atlesh, the main attraction is the 40-meter-high arch that adorns the entrance to a small bay. The arch is a through grotto, which was formed over time due to sea waves and weathering of rock. During the season, many excursion boats moor here, which bring diving enthusiasts.

Small Atlesh also has something to see. Under the influence of waves, a hundred-meter tunnel was formed here, and there is also the Crimean Cave, the entrance to which is only from the sea, since it is 10 meters below the surface of the water. Its length is 150 meters.

The so-called Chalice of Love is also located on the Small Atlesh - a reservoir with amazingly clear, sky-colored water. The diameter of the reservoir is only 20 meters, its uniqueness is that it has a 6-meter long tunnel that connects the reservoir with the sea.

In this place, you can enjoy not only unique landscapes, but also visit an amazing underwater museum. The famous Alley of the Leaders is located here, to explore which you need to dive 13 meters. This underwater gallery is popular.

Organized over 15 years ago, the underwater museum boasts a collection of busts of communist and socialist leaders that have survived in the history of the USSR. All of them are lined up on stone shelves and shelves and buried under the water column.

The underwater museum at Cape Tarkhankut is considered to be the sight of the Crimea, which is definitely worth a visit. Organizers are always ready to add new shapes to the collection. Today it has over 50 different busts. The so-called Alley of Leaders is something amazing.

The visibility is so good that the alley of the busts can be seen even from the surface of the water surface.

You should definitely visit the former estate of General Popov, which is located on the territory of the Solnechnaya Dolina boarding house. After restoration, they tried to keep it in the same form as during its construction; for a day or evening walk, you can use the surrounding park. This is the part of the village where the most elite houses and mansions with sculptures and swimming pools are located.

Those who come here for medical treatment should come to lakes Kapchak and Liman. The latter is known for its curative mud.

    Recreation and entertainment

The Olenevka administration tried to develop the infrastructure of this resort village as much as possible, thanks to which it became comfortable to relax here with children. Attention is paid to every area that tourists are interested in.

On the local beach you can rent a boat for fishing in the sea. Excursion ships regularly visit the pier here. There are a lot of water activities, including riding a "banana", "tablet", water skiing, boats, motorcycles and much more.
